A/N: This post was initially written for the Weekly Analysis Thread... But, after the insistence of some of my friends in the aforementioned Thread, I am slowly venturing out to the main forums..
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who have read and appreciated my earlier post 'The Phantom Diaries'... I will definitely try to answer the questions or doubts that I am sure are waiting for me...
=============
YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! FINALLY!!!These were the words that was coming to my mind when I watched the last 5-10 minutes of today's episode...
And, after yesterday's fantabulous episode and watching today's episode, I can definitely say that the makers of this show are finally back in their groove and their comfort zone...
Anyways, I am completely at a loss of words to express my absolute pleasure after watching the last 3 episodes... And, I guess, our old KRPKAB is finally embracing its true self...
Like I said, I don't know how to express myself today.. So, all of you can consider this post, more or less, just a rambling of a young man experiencing a sugar rush...
I will try to be as eloquent as possible, but, still, if you spot some errors or mistakes, feel free to correct me or even reprimand me...
So, here it goes...
1. The bond between Ishwari & Sona growing stronger with each passing day
I can't believe I am saying this... But, I have really started to enjoy Ishwari's scenes... It has been such a long time since I have seen this positive and good side of her that sometimes, I can't believe that she was the same woman whose very presence in the scene ruined my day...
There were days where I really used to hope that there will not be any Ishwari's scenes on that particular day's episode...
But, since the end of Khatri track, the changes in her, first made me doubtful, then surprised and now, just stuns me...
Watching her cook the Avocado salad, just for Sonakshi, in yesterday's episode, literally made me go 'Awww!!'
It was such a sweet and endearing gesture... And, then, to top it all, the conversation that she had with Radha Rani in the kitchen, was the scene that just sent delightful scenes down my spine.. Her words, where she used the 'Dabba' to explain her mistakes and the lessons that she has learnt from her mistakes were, personally for me, the highlight of yesterday's episode...
While I definitely enjoyed all the Devakshi's scene, especially the one in the car, but for me, the aforementioned scene stole the thunder, since it showed the transformation and the journey that Ishwari has also gone throughout the last 7 years...
Hats off to the writers and Supriya Ji, for presenting such a complex character on the television screen... Now, we know why the makers have chosen her for playing this role...
Anybody could have played the role of a conventional vamp mother-in-law, but you need to cast someone really good, who had the innate ability to present such a diverse and contradicting range of emotions, so effectively and consistently...
(I am pretty sure XGKB will soon only call herself Radha or GKBOA.. Didn't understand the meaning - Garib Ki Beti Once Again.)
But, coming back to the point...
If her scenes in yesterday's episode was good, then today, they were great... Her conversation with Sona just reminded me of the good, old days when she had shared such a warm friendship with her 'saheli', her nutritionist...
I was touched by seeing the joy in her eyes, when Sona called her 'Ma' and their spontaneous and big bear hugs just tingled me with pleasure...
But, the part which, in my humble opinion was the best was the honesty with which Ishwari accepted and acknowledged the fact both her and Sona are different people and hence, have different perspectives, and hence, their might be days in the future where they might face certain upheavals in their relationship...
But, what was more surprising was her promise that despite them sharing different perspectives, their relationship will be of utmost priority and despite the friction, her love for Sonakshi or their relationship, will not wane or wither...
And, in some ways, she gave Sona the independence to choose her own path and make her own decisions, knowing that Ishwari will always support and love her, despite her choices... In other words, she has granted Sona the freedom to be her own self and not try to change herself, just to suit her own whims and desires...
Supriya Ji's words always come back to my mind, that this show 'is a journey of a mother-in-law to become a mother' is finally coming true and I can't wait to see how this bond develops and strengthens in the coming days...
2. Bijoy and the cautious beginning of a friendship between him and Dev
I am sure that everyone who has read my posts in the past, has understood the fact that I don't exactly share a good relationship with the character of Bijoy.
Since the beginning of the series, we had seen how Bijoy, despite his belief in absolute morality and principles, was a jovial man, who was pretty a good father... He was nowhere near the perfect father that some might believe him to be (including me)...
There was a time that I felt that the hero of my life, my father, was in some ways, inferior to Sonakshi's father... Simply because my father never expresses his feelings in words... He believes in showing his love for me, through his actions...
In fact, one of my biggest and deepest of desire is to hear my father say, that he is proud of me. Probably, one day, I will have my wish but I know that I need still travel a long way before I could become worthy of the aforementioned words...
In some ways, I can definitely understand the pain that both Saurabh and Neha felt, when they saw how their siblings received more recognition and compliments from their respective parents (Bijoy and Ishwari)..
But, thankfully, I have realised my folly and understood that despite all of the very minor flaws in my Papa, he is still the best father that I could have ever hoped for...
(In some ways, I am more my Papa's son than my mother's... So, I will not mind if someone calls me Papa's boy.. And, slowly but gradually, I have accepted the fact that it will be my sister who will remains the apple of my father's eye...)
But, like I mentioned earlier, that considering the fact that, at one point of time, I considered Bijoy's portrayal as a father to be near perfect also explains the reason why I became so annoyed with even his slightest and smallest of mistakes...
In life, we always become angry at those, with whom we feel so attached... He definitely had his share of mistakes but in no way, he was even near the level of Ishwari's mistakes...
(The same goes with respect to the mistakes committed by Sona and Dev respectively)
But, then the second season started, and then, instead of seeing the same, old Bijoy Bose.. I saw a man who considered himself to be 'perfect' or superior to others...
His ego and his pride became the most important thing in his eyes and a father whose world once revolved around his daughter's happiness, became oblivious to the inner turmoil and agony experienced by his daughter...
Everyone, including his wife and son, suddenly became his enemies who was supporting the 'wrong side'...
This is why, I was so angry and furious with his actions in the past couple of months but I am taken aback in a pleasant sort of way, seeing the change in his behaviour in past few days...
Unlike some of the people, I did find his cautiousness or his guarded nature towards Dev to be indeed quite relatable and realistic... No father, especially an over-protective father like Bijoy will ever rest easy knowing the decision made by his daughter to give another chance to the same man, who not once, but twice, made her heart break...
And, while I agree with certain viewpoints that he is standing on a similar spot where once Ishwari stood 8 years back, as well as that he has yet to learn some crucial lessons in life, but I also disagree with them, that while Bijoy might be standing on the similar spot, yet there are subtle but significant factors that differentiate their situations...
While Ishwari acceptance of Sona was not wholeheartedly given, it was the presence of people like Mamiji and Vicky, who never allowed her to see things from an unbiased eyes and manipulated her deep-rooted insecurities for their own benefit... And, Mamaji, despite seeing everything, was never able to resolve the fears in his sister's mind... His failure to be the much-needed advisor or guide for his sister, also didn't benefit anyone...
On the other hand, Bijoy is surrounded by a family who is not scared to tell him his follies and a wife, who has the courage to stand on the side, which she believes to be right and call out his mistakes and his flaws openly... He still has a mother who might allow her son to choose his own path in life, but also guides him with a firm hand, when the need arises...
Wow, I was not expecting this to go for so long... But, I guess, my feelings with respect to Bijoy was suppressed for so long, that at the first given opportunity, it came out like rushing water out of a faucet...
Anyways, going back to the point i.e, the start of a tentative friendship or relationship between Dev and Bijoy...
I really liked their slightly awkward or guarded conversation with each other.. It exactly portrayed the state of their current relationship... With Sona accepting Dev back in her life, both Bijoy and Dev have yet again forced to share a relationship...
Both of them understand the awkward silence present between them and also, the expectations that they had with respect to each other...
In one of my previous posts, I spoke about how personal equations matter in relationships and especially, the role that they play in the longevity and the strength of these relationships...
Even going through more turbulence than the relationship between Dev and Bijoy, Sona and Ishwari's relationship has suddenly started go at full throttle and their bond is strengthening and developing at a breakneck speed...
This is not only due to Sona's assistance in the Khatri matter or Ishwari finally seeing the goodness in Sona but also due to the good personal equation that they once both shared when they were just a nutritionist and a patient... Since, they had once shared a good repo with each other, it was easy for them to quickly fall back on those experiences and learning from their mistakes to make their bond stronger...
The same could be said with regards to the relationship shared between Dev and Asha or for that matter, even Dev and Sonakshi themselves..
But, on the other hand, Dev and Bijoy never had a good personal equation between them.. Yes, they did have some good and hilarious conversations between them (referring to the 'Mussoorie ki kasam' or even the one they had, when Asha locked them in the room).
And, while both of them were fun and emotional, these were still conversations that happened when they both were not in their complete senses (either drunk or partially drunk)..
And, here's the thing with drunken conversations, they might be full of emotional intensity and brutal honesty, they never really become good founding stones for any kind of solid or stable relationship which could withstand the onslaught of time...
So now, both of them are once again stand on the same place where they were 7 years back and at least, this time, both of them understand and acknowledge the significance of their relationship, when it comes to the happiness of their respective families and especially, Sonakshi and Suhana...
So, while their conversation today was awkward and slightly tentative, but this conversation could prove to become a very crucial and strong founding stone for their relationship to grow and develop...
And, before I end, I have to admit that I absolutely loved that Dev was included in the Bose family hug...
It is a pity that Bijoy didn't join the hug, but considering the circumstances, it was understandable... But, this scene has raised a hope in me that one day, we will see the complete family (every member of Dixit as well as Bose family) sharing one big group hug...
But, till then, I have to satisfy myself with watching this hug...
I know that some people are already speculating about how Mrs. Mondal will fit into this picture.. But, I would like to stay from this bandwagon until the creatives show something more concrete...
3. Revelation of the secrets of the 7 year separation
This was the point which made me yell the words that I mentioned in the very first statement of this post...
Since, the start of the leap, we wished to know more about the feelings of both the protagonists in the 7 year gap...
While we did witness or caught glimpses of the pain experienced by Sona either through flashbacks or statements made by others, Dev's journey is more or less, is surrounded by complete mystery and we can only speculate on what has actually happened in his life, based on some accounts of Elena or what we have been able to piece together from his actions...
So, I was completely taken by surprise when I saw the last 5-7 minutes of today's episode...
I never expected that Sonakshi would have ever expressed her feelings, even in written form, especially accounts of the initial days of her pregnancy...
But, first of all, I could definitely relate with her actions of writing emails containing all of her agony and desperation, to Dev, yet never having the courage to send it to him...
In fact, I also do some similar stuff, where I write long emails only to save them as drafts, filling pages and pages of my journal or recording my own monologues...
I always say that this show always shows what we expect, except the way they show it is so unique and out of the blue, that it always leaves a bit breathless..
Watching Dev's expression as he read the first email where Sona expressed her agony of not being able to share the joy of her pregnancy with Dev and her pain that Dev never stopped her from walking out even when she told him that she is leaving...
I never expected to read a first hand account of those moments and how the email was started in Dev's inquisitive voice, but ended it in Sona's broken voice, just left a big, gaping hole in my heart..
And, not only this, but Dev's hesitance to reveal anything about his past, just makes me more and more curious about his life in the past 7 years... And, I guess, another sucker punch is waiting for us...
In some ways, I felt like today's segment was a continuation of yesterday's conversation in the car where they both spoke about the 'haq' that they both had on each other...
And, now, they will now come to know how they have unintentionally used their 'haq' to cause immeasurable pain to the life of the one person that they never meant to hurt... It will definitely make them realise the extent and the depth of their control in each other's lives..
I have always lamented the fact that the rush that both Dev and Sona had, to join themselves in matrimony, without working out or understanding the pain that both of them went through during their brief separation...
So, I am really glad and happy that both of them are finally taking time to understand each other and their lives in the past 7 years, before they proceed to once again, agree for their remarriage...
Finally, we are seeing the maturity, that we found was missing the first time around.. Both of them have surely changed and this time, for the better...
I am really excited on how this relationship is shaping up and the secrets that will be uncovered...
