Passion week going on for us Christians. And what caught my attention w.r.to KRPKAB, was a quote stressed by our guest speaker during the good friday sermon. The quote was made none other than the famous South African spiritual leader, Desmond Tutu and he has published a book with this quote as the title, 'No Future Without Forgiveness'
Inspired from this, I just did an online search on what more Mr.Tutu had to say on this topic of forgiveness and I came across this link, http://www.independent.ie/lifestyle/forgiveness-the-best-form-of-selfinterest-30198938.html, where he describes how his real life experience, of having a father who was very abusive to his mother, has taught him about the need to forgive and to forgive yourself.

Forgiveness is the power to choose how events affect you. You benefit immensely when you choose to forgive and so does everyone around you. Whether you need to forgive others, or need to forgive yourself, doing so sets you free from the past and enables you to fulfil your true potential. Forgiveness allows you to break free from limiting beliefs and attitudes. It frees up your mental and emotional energies so that you can apply them to creating a better life.

Thank you...As you said, the amount of relaxation or peace of mind you get once all the bitterness inside you is out, is unfathomable. Have experienced it personally and when I got an apt post in sharing how it benefits us, just did it. Hope it will help many here.

Grace I will quote a great saying here but won't name the source- forgive not because that person deserves forgiveness but because you deserve mental peace.

Very nice post Grace. Indeed forgiveness heals and helps the person who forgives just as much as the person who is forgiven.Gandhiji rightly pointed out that Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. It takes courage to forgive and let go.

But I would like to add that though forgiving is good, one should never let go of the learning from the concerned experience

Right...we are not saints or mahapurushs to forget those experiences...but, as a wise human being what we can do is, not let the resentments & bitterness that arise from recalling those incidents eat us up. Instead we need to channelize those energy in a positive way.
