Agree with you. I definitely don't want that. Because of three things.
1. He challenged Sonakshi that she can't be successful. If he truly loves her, the way to support her is to encourage her to be a success on her own, not supplying money so that her success also somehow become because of him. I don't know why this doesn't seem so egotistic?
Think of this way. Say you have a child and you know that he has the drive to be successful and you want him to be success. Would you challenge him to do better and then bribe his teacher to falsity his results or let him be successful on his own?
2. If he invested in her company, then how can he not know about Soha? And if he does, then how could he keep away? How can a father know about his daughter and keep away?
3. Having debt in a company is called leverage. In economic boom, the company performs better than other companies without debt, but in bad times, the same debt drags the company down farther.
If Dev invested in Sonakshi's company, knowing his attitude, there could be two reasons.
A. He is still in love with her and wanted to help. However, the person you secretly want to help, do you publicly humiliate them and make sure their attention comes back to you so that they start adding two and two and come up with you?
B. He wants revenge and wants to take away investment at a crucial moment which her company can't recover from or threatens to do the same to make her dance to his tunes. Ah, now that seems more of Dev Dixit's style. He is vindictive. Which is again a very ugly and jerk move to make. However, then no one can claim that sadism is love. Now can they?
