If mothers/teachers are that egoistic then they can never be good teachers .
Sona did mistake unknowingly..but what issue aunty did it was pure knowingly..and that's where difference lies.
It's like a teachers teaches something to student..and student does it wrong and does not solve problem as told by teacher in first time..and when student ask about how he had done...teacher says..let exam result tell how did you do
In no way this makes anyone good teacher.. it was sadistic pleasure and feel of superiority in dev's life on issue ' s part..
If sona had been stubborn about her alternation and not allowing issue to do any interference in her prepared halwa..I would have supported issue..but that girl was literally dependent on issue for her first time cooking..she confirmed with her..but what issue did was pure cheating in mean way..yes as mother, would be MIL,teacher.its was nothing that can be counted as her genuine efforts...
We all make mistakes..we all go through failures..but there are always people at different point of our life..who supports us,helps us in rectify our mistakes and encourage us.l Ike teachers,parents.. friends etc.because world is full of people who will put you down at every step of our life..and issue comes under later category..
Whatever..let mommy cook for her son..and son cook for his wife..perfect life😊😆
Sona you better enjoy it..it's kinda blessing in disguise 😆

Ishwari did try teach her well how to make the halwa. But Sonakshi being nutritionist, changed the recipe even though she does not know the abcd of cooking. What was the need to do that. Either you eat the halwa or no. Why modify something which is already set. What's with calories and all. This reminds me of a friend who wanted to make Samosa, but she didn't wanted to use oil for frying. So she ended up baking samosa in the oven and trust me worst idea.
I don't blame Ishwari completely here. Sona should have tasted the halwa herself. Wonder why didn't she do so.

Finally Ishwari though she tried to support Sona in front of GKB and Dev but bottom line was she was upset as Sona has changed recipe without consulting her. If Sona wanted to learn from Ishwari, why didn't she follow the steps she was told. Ishwari's reaction was not wrong completely here.

I can absolutely answer this... Though not many may agree with me... I can give a benefit of doubt to Sona that she tasted it...

I come from a family where health and nutrition is talked and practiced like from about one and a half decades... Low in oil and calories are taken care of... And our food is cooked that way only that has really low amount of oil... And I can guarantee that it doesn't tastes anywhere near what full of oil and calorie food does... But we have got habitual to it...

This was precisely the reason, I myself spoilt the halwa coz there was very less oil(yes I did not touch ghee) as well less sugar... And I didn't feel it that bad coz I was already habitual to the Taste of low oil food...

It took me some time to understand and believe the fact that some dishes are meant to be full of calories and you just can't modify it... Better cook and eat it seldom...

But this thing my mother explained it to me... Bas itni si baat if Ishwari had explained it to Sonakshi when she was cooking or cooked, things could have been better...

1. Sona made her own modifications in the proportions without consulting Eshwari . infact eshwari even asked her if she can cook on her own and told her that it is a difficult recipe to make, or in case of any doubt to consult her. sona was over confident here.
2. she defended sona in front of GKB
3. She was skeptical about Sona receiving her feedback. If sona really wanted to make the halwa to bond with Eshwari, then by right , she should have served it first to her and asked her for the opinion.
4. last but not least, letting Dev taste it and give his feedback - both Sona and Eshwari very well know that Dev talks at face value . he does not hide anything or sugar coat the things. Sona made halwa for Dev and according to Eshwari only his opinion mattered.
when she realised that Dev was being hurtful, she defended Sona and also signalled him to apologize.
5. in my view, the closing sentence "Dev ko pata hai uski maa Aisa halwa bana hi nahi sakti"clearly shows that she was trying to hint at sona that something is not right subtly . remember the scene when Eshwari cooks the halwa, entire house would smell of it and Dev instantly asks Bhola if maa had cooked halwa that day. the first reaction from Eshwari on seeing sona's halwa was " sona already made the halwa then kushboo kyu nahi aa rahi hai?"

It is totally unjust to compare an amateur girl's cooking skills to an experienced woman's skill of cooking the same things for the past 3 decades... Koi Dev ki maa jaisa halwa bana hi nahi sakta... Not in her first time... Wo mooh-phat maamiji se bhi bologe toh wo bhi nahi bana sakti Ishwari jaisa... Ishwari told it right that cooking is a bit of an art and rest of it is science... Sonakshi knows science, but art comes from only practice... Even if Sona had made in the amount of ghee and sugar Ishwari asked, then too it's my guarantee that it still would be distinguishable for Dev...
My mother and my maasi/khaala, even they when cook the same thing, with the same recipe; both learnt from the same mother ; We still can distinguish who made what... That's what the art is and is always intellectual... It still wouldn't be a big deal for Dev to tell it wasn't cooked by his mother...

And the bottom line is Ishwari had chances to help Sonakshi even before serving to Dev... If she wanted she could have saved Sonakshi before making her fall... You don't do that even to a baby... A baby too cries after falling, you don't tell the baby that nobody can walk the way mommy dearest walks... 😆

I think it's a difference in opinions... I usually defend Ishwari... But aaj shayad nahi kar paaungi...

I totally agree with you... I am a teacher myself , and though we want our students to learn at once, but we don't expect them to learn at once... It is instead we end up explaining the same thing to them in four different ways... We don't put them to test just instructing them...
It's like, I have told you the way, now go on... And though we are knowing there's a pit in the way, we still sit back and let them fall and then tell that it's ok...
I feel it was more an issue of ego for Ishwari... Look at her face when she realizes that Sona has not followed her instructions... She was like- Achha hai chakhne do Dev ko, sab samajh aa jaayega...

But that blessing in disguise you are talking about, I don't think mothers in law can ever digest the fact that she and her son are preparing food and bahu is enjoying... They will then do what we say in hindi - "Maar Maar ke musalmaan banana.." Not that it's literal beating but will force Sona to learn better cooking and the regular kitchen politics begins... 😆

I am a registered Dietitian with doctorate in Nutrition & Dietetics so Sonakshi not knowing abcd of cooking is something beyond me🤢 Its a very hands on subjects Cooking is part of practicals right from under graduation days where students cook in labs from normal to therapeutic cooking...they might not compete with master chefs but deffo know basics of cooking

P.S. I cling whenever people address her as Doc (Nutritionist is not a Doc unless she got a Ph.D) now adds to one more blunder😡

@Aazeen02 and mena_k : I liked the post and this response. Tasting the cooking before serving is an age-old philosophy. The fact is that Sonakshi didn't do it, either before or after she finished making halwa. Big goof up. I liked Dev for his honesty. Ishwari was upset that despite having told Sona how to make the halwa, Sona tried to use her nutritionist intelligence to make it worse. Sona should hav at least discussed with Ishwari about making the halwa more healthy!! Ishwari would have probably helped her there too. All in all, if Sona complains to Dev and then Dev questions his mother, well the promo for suicide is bang on...

Sona would also learn some things- her mother would teach her, about what went wrong. :)

Agree with you. But I am putting myself in Sona's shoes. I do the same all the time. It doesnt taste bad, but not the best either as the original recipe..Its the personality of Sona..not overconfidence.

dude, she was totally being a meethi churri.

If i taste something bad, i won't let anyone serve it to other people before correcting it. OR at least i will warn the other people, don't say anything bad just eat quietly. Sona specifically asked her - is everything ok?

She is a mom. Would she have done this to her own daughter?

btw, she always defends sona in front of gkb AFTER gkb has insulted sona completely. Its almost in the manner - 'oh now, I'm asking you to stop because i'm a nice person you see but really in truth keep talking rubbish' ... That way my hands are clean.

She was totally re-emphasizing with dev -> you don't like it na. sure. pakka. lock kar diya jaaye ? And then she acts all nice in front of dev - oh! apologise you hurt her.

She is the kind of MIL who won't hurt you with outright harsh words but will emotionally manipulate you into having a breakdown. I dislike people like her. I would prefer someone to abuse me on my face, at least then i will know that they are not secretly trying to sabotage me

Hi ,
Aren't you expecting too much from ishwari?
The person who has not completely accepted sona as the girl who has taken a place in her son's heart and is slowly according to her is trying to snatch Dev away (we all lnow she is wrong)
I believe here in this case,it was completely sona's fault.why,i will tell you.
1)she has herself confessed she doesn't know how to cook, when a person doesn't know something, you are supposed to follow the instructions, not go messing around.
2)she knew Dev liked the halwa the way his Mom made, dont know what made her think changing the amount of ingredients knowing very well this would effect the original recipe.
3)she is not a Kid any more, she wasmaking it for the first time and trust me when you do anything(not only cooking) you ate supposes to follow the rules(basic common sense).Once you become pro,you can go ahead and do whatever changes you want.
4)wasn't halwa preparation her way of bridging the gap between her and ishwari. This is how she was planning by going against her rules, again what was she thinking??
5)lastly,did she taste? I have doubts on that. She cud has asked any one else inthe house to taste it,why didn't she do that.

It is like she herself called up on to Dev's outburst .

This by no means is defending ishwari, she definitely is an fault but sona spoon feeded her the chance to create rift between her and dev.

Sona made few modifications despite having zero knowledge about cooking was her blunder, not manipulation. She tried to act smart but totally failed.

But when she asked Ishwari whether everything is fine? Ishwari knew everything was wrong, still asked to go ahead and give to dev. In this case either she should inform sona that taste is not good or inform dev that not to be harsh as she made it first time.

Sona didnt hide remaining integrates where no one can see, Ishwari was hiding that she has already tasted and it's not good.

It's about Blunder vs plotting.
