This is my first post on this forum. I've been reading so many of the posts and it got me to thinking abt a lot of things. I also kept wondering why are they keeping it a secret considering they didn't actively decide to hide their relationship like other tv couples that I've seen. The only thing that makes sense is that since it is their first love and relationship, they just want to keep it to themselves as long as they can. They want to be selfish coz this is the only relationship where both of them can afford to be themselves and be selfish for themselves. I think both of them are providers for their families obviously more for Dev but even Sona to an extent.

Going along with that, I wanted to ask whether Dev really does share everything he feels with Ishwari. I know he share important decisions and he def needs to share this one but from what I've seen, it seems he hid his inner most worries, feelings etc. from everyone. That's why he had the sleepless nights right? So it's clear that while they do have a stronger relationship than normal mother-son relationships, I still don't think he shares his real true feelings with Ishwari until he's ready or has to. Even the thing with Natasha, he talked to Natasha first and then just informed Ishwari. He didn't really take her advice or include her in such an important decision. Both when he agreed to the engagement or when he broke the engagement. Also, didn't Sona say to Elena that when she has a problem or something to share, she has Elena, Dada and even her mom but Dev has no one. I think it's true. I think before Sona, he would keep every feeling to himself coz it was mostly problems or troubles. I think he didn't have a lot of really happy moments relating to him as an individual before Sona. Like he said, he's never loved/wanted anything for himself but her. So I think he's following what he's used to doing. He's not used to sharing his feelings so easily even or rather esp his mom. I think right now, he's not even thinking abt telling her coz then he'd have to face the question on whether she likes her and what he would do if she didn't etc.
I think she's the most important woman in his life but she's on a pedestal so for him, their relationship for him is more about taking care of her and keeping her happy. On the other hand, I think for Ishwari, she considers them more than that. She's dependent on him for everything and also feels that they're best friends to boot. She expects him to share everything with her (esp personal). I feel her expectations and needs out of their relationship are much higher than his.

Sorry for the ramble. I've had soo many thoughts going on in my head since I started watching the show that I couldn't help but share at least some part of it.

Their relationship is the definition of an unhealthy relationship. No communication, no trust. If their relation was healthy, then Dev would be able go talk to Ishwari, and Ishwari would try to understand Dev. Take what's happening right now, Ishwari is thinking about Dev and Sona and saying "my son will forget me?" not "oh my son found someone amazing for himself". And yes, I know she deserves to feel a little insecure but seriously? Dev loves her so much, how could he possibly forget about her, come on Ishwari.

Dev knows his mom in and out and understands even the unspoken language. But not vice versa..The ronak on his face after breaking the engagement, should have definitely triggered that something is making him happy...For that instance, any expression, she should know what it means..but here, its not the case..
Dev, you are right, its not hiding, but he feels that Sona is a good friend, guide and his life..Will take sometime to let his mom know and get her approval..

Dev always feel his mother that no one can importance in his life accepting her ...

And Ishwari fault is Dev sirf aur sirf ussika hoke rahe kisi aur ka nahi

Hey!! Loved your post...truly...!
Iwas going insane what is the reason that he is not telling it to anyone, then your post came and it might be possible. This relationship is only related to his and he never shares anything related to him to anyone. His sorrows, worries, happiness- nothing were shared to anyone. That's why it is not important to him to share it. Just one thing why Sonakshi is hiding it?

Actually Iswari don't want to give a chance to herself to think in the direction that her son can have someone whom he loves by himself without taking his mother permission and she don't want to come out of the illusion that she is the one and only one important woman in her son's life. She don't want him to go away from her emotional control. One way she is emotionally influencing him and controlling and hypnotizing him that he cannot do anything without her approval.Somehow i feel still there is a lot of gap in their communication.I feel as dev told in one of the conversation with sona he does not love his mother but worship her as a god.Anyhow she should understand that her position in her son's life is entirely different and she cannot compare herself with sona who is dev friend, lover and a soulmate with whom he can share everything.Dev won't hide anything from sona and no need for him to hide.He can share everything with her as she won't keep any burden on him for any kind of situation whereas it is not the case with iswari.Iswari will over excite for any of the incidents or news in dev life which will affect her grip.He don't want to share some feelings with iswari whether it is his personal or professional due to his fear of her health or mental imbalance

I agree. I just started to watch Jaana Na Dil Se Door on Star Plus. There also, we have a single mother - son relationship. There it's just the 2 of them and again his mother is his world but still they have the relationship where he openly tells her his problems, dreams and hopes. She, from her end, doesn't stop him and allows him to make his decisions, mistakes and basically live life on his terms. I couldn't help but compare the two relationship which are so remarkably different. I'm also surprised that just coz he's not asking her before going to Neha's house, she started to feel that he's going away from her. That's such a wrong thought for a mother to have according to me.

Actually, I don't completely agree here. I think both of them don't completely understand each other. Coz if they did, then Dev would've understood the importance of the b'day thing to her. I'm not saying that he was wrong or anything but I'm saying from their relationship point of view, I think both of them don't completely understand each other's innermost feelings as much as they think they do.

Yea man. Way too much possession for a mother to have for her son. It's just not healthy.
