Just saw KWK - Lara and Katrina where Karan johar and Ms.Dutta unabashedly mock south films..what with the accent and the songs. Am surprised that a film maker can fall down to such regional bias. There have been lots of good movies down south..and most of them more profound and meaningful than most bollywood mainstream movies. I dont want to degrade any movies here...but why such obvious contempt when am sure he knows none about some amazing movies down south. Why...Even Manirathnam, kamalhassan, Rajinikanth, Rehman all of them are from south? I dont know whether to laugh at Karan Johar's dismal knowledge of Indian films or get annoyed by such treatment pelted out to regional films. HUH....

I think that you are taking this too far.

The topic subject started with the fact that Hindi was almost an alien language for Katrina but now, she is dubbing her own films in Hindi. Then, the focus shifted to South films and Katrina said that she learned her lines per shot. Karan just asked Lara if she had done a South Indian film. She replied affirmatively and when asked to say a dialogue, she did so just to show that she did learn her lines. I don't see any mocking of any sort taking place in the Aug 5 episode. Karan may not be the perfect knowledgeable person around, but he has been in the industry long enough and he is quite a diplomat and would never let KWK get surrounded by regional bias.

I don't think they were being rude. Lara was merely displaying how she got around without actually saying the words. And that was the funny part, how well she did it that a someone wouldn't be able to tell the difference otherwise. But I don't think that they were trying to make fun of South Indian movies. If they didn't respect those movies, they wouldn't have worked in those to begin with. It was all light-hearted, that's how you should take it too. Please dont' be offended by it.

I really felt very bad abt Karan's behaviour. Why he has to cheekily giggle when there was a mention abt South Indian Films. Just becas he making movies with shahrukh (only wid shahrukh) he shd not behave like this. Mohanlal n Mammooty n Kaamlhaasan & Rajnikanth are such gr8 stalwarts in the industry and how many good meaningful movies are being made in South Indian Film industry. I feel that he shd see a movie called 'Mozhi' in Tamil. Then, he will know abt what is real acting

Some of the guests [or even the host] on the show really think too highly of themselves. I mean, there should be self-respect but you shouldn't go so far with it as to offend other's culture or language.

I kinda felt the same as Lavy. While agreeing they were making lite of their moments down south, the way they projected the dances and the language was in bad taste. Well if they dont understand the language how can they relate to the said body movements. I am a south indian too and have been married to a north indian for quite some time now, and I sure appreciate both cultures equally. Also as far as my knowledge goes many south indian movies have been copied to bollywood and vice versa so let them be so.

We are getting mixed responses here and for the sake of our many friends here who dont feel so..maybe benefit of doubt can be given to KJo.

Still...If he could refrain from his language taunts that will be awesome. Susmithamanav...join the gang. My sis is married to a north indian too. :)
