Acting w a s - n ' t planned. It just happened to her. "But the whole idea was to be different from the rest of the world," says Aashka Goradia. "At the age of 15, I told my dad I didn't want to be like other girls my age. That's when I made up my mind. S o m e t i m e later I came to Mumbai to be part of the entert a i n m e n t world."
And she has fulfilled her dream of being different. "At 19, I'm driving my own car," says the actress, who plays Kumud in
Kkusum.
A firm believer in destiny she doesn't believe in planning her life. "What you plan doesn't happen and what happens you can never plan," she says. "I don't know what will happen five years down the line. Yes, there are certain things I'd like to do, for instance, act in movies, but I don't believe in planning. Of course, you have to put in a lot of hard work in whatever you do, but you can never be sure about anything in life. It's all destiny."
Love is in the air and even though she isn't willing to divulge the lucky man's name she admits to being "very much in love."
Her boyfriend's a builder she reveals, and admits that she is glad that he's not from the television industry. Explaining the reason she says, "When two people in a relationship are from the same field there could be trouble. Some kind of competitiveness can creep in, posing problems. My boyfriend and I have so much to discuss. I keep him updated with what happens on my sets and he on the other hand shares what happens on his site! It's fun exchanging talk on different topics."
Loyalty is the most important thing in any relationship, feels the actress. "My man has to be loyal to me because I am."
Are wedding bells aroundthe-corner? "Not for another eight to nine years," she says. "Marriage is very important to me. I am looking forward to having a great married life someday. But right now I'm concentrating on my career."
Bollywood is on her mind, but there are certain limits she has set for herself and the actress is very clear on exposing on-screen. "I wouldn't just want to wear a bikini and take a walk on the beach. But if my character demands it then it's fine. But that should be presented well. However, just to market myself or market my film I won't expose," she insists.
