A petite star from the television industry hit the big screen last week. The film was Kucch To Hai, the Tusshar Kapoor starrer in which she has not done badly at all for a starter. KTH is unlikely to set the box office on fire, or so it seems, but young actress Natassha is justifiably optimistic after her debut that has extended her reach, both among the masses and within the industry.
How is she feeling now that her first film has been released? "It's feels very nice," says she. "I am quite excited. After reading all the reviews, I have realised that the response to my performance has been good. While I might not have been called great, I have not been criticised either. I am basically enjoying the moment." Understandably so, since this is the first one. She has every reason to be thrilled.
Natassha's forthcoming film is titled Yeh Dil which is directed by the South Indian director Teja and stars Tusshar once again. The film is a "violent love story," says Natassha, echoing the statement made by her co-star in a television interview not long ago. The phrase is not too clear, so she clarifies. "The characters of Tusshar and myself fall in love. I am a milkman's daughter, while he is a millionaire's son. Both of us are very young and innocent, and we end up being beaten up by our parents before we finally come together," says she.
Yeh Dil is being talked about as a realistic film in which, whether or not one believes it, the two leading stars have acted without any make up. Even more interesting is the fact that the two characters have not switched to wearing fancy outfits when the songs are being picturised which is the norm in Bollywood. "It is a very deglamourised sort of thing," concurs Natassha. "There are no trips to Switzerland for doing the songs. It is a plain and simple love story of two innocent people."
Natassha's third film is also being produced by Ekta Kapoor. Co-starring Sohail Khan, this one is a horror movie. "In this film which is being directed by Santram Verma," says she, "my character is completely different. My name is Shanti, but all I do is talk, talk, and talk, which is the opposite of what my name suggests." She giggles, and it is tough not to join her when she does.
She is the latest among television stars to have hit the big screen. "I am not doing any television projects right now," says she. Films is her topmost priority as she waits for the world to say that there is something about her. That is, Kucch To Hai.
