Basically the show started out with anjali getting married to kavya to get revenge on him. Anjali had a twin sister (Anjum) who was engaged to kavya since childhood (kavya didnt know her and rejected her without meeting her), anjum got into an freak car accident, and Anjali blamed kavya for her sister's death (this is why she wants revenge). Nitya who wanted to kill Kavya for his money made a plan with Anjali to destsroy Kavya. Anjali got married to Kavya and fed him medicines that made him and others in the family think that kavya is goign crazy. While Anjali was doing this she actually fell in love with kavya and told Nitya that she will not let her destroy kavya. From then onwards the rivalry between nitya and anjali started. Then came yug, he was suppose to get married to kavya's sista (forgot her name) but instead became close friends with anjali. Nitya took advantage of this and made kavya think that the baby that anjali is carrying is yug's instead of his. After this pammi came into the picture who instigated the situation of trust between kavyanjali. Nitya and Pammi got together, manipulated situations so that kavya started to hate anjali and eventually there relationship resulted into a divorce.

Oh and slok is nitya's real son, kavya is not her, he is kavya's dad's and the other woman's child. ALso during all this, it is reavealed that nitya killed her husband so she can get the money, but kavya thinks she killed her husband cause he cheated on her and thinks that her reason's for killing him were justifiable. Everytime anjali, slok or yug tried to bring Nitya's true face out to Kavya she turned it around so it looked like she was the victom. This is why Kavya gives her a so much importancce into his life.
