Actor Tarun Khanna has struck a double whammy with 'Kituu Sabb Jaanti Hai' and 'Mahi Ve' writes Sudipto Chattopdhyay
What took so long to get a break?
I think I was a bit immature when I stepped into this industry. In the five years of my television career, I did get a few good roles. But I was waiting for something big to come my way. Somehow I couldn't go to producers asking for roles.
Tell us about your projects.
I am excited about 'Kituu, Sabb Jaanti Hai'. I am playing the role of the programming head of the news channel where Kituu is the journalist. The character of Yuvraj is very strong. But at heart he is very soft and there develops a love angle between Kituu and him. I am also playing the lead, Kuljeet, in 'Mahi Ve'. He is a family man. I think I can fit into any character and want to explore various genres.
Do you regret leaving your family business?
I can go back to my father any time and join his business. That option is always open for me. But I want to be a self-made man. I know I can speak well, act well and look good. So there is nothing to get depressed. I will definitely make it to the top.
Are films on the agenda?
I will do films if there are offers. But to me both the mediums, television and films, are fine. I want to keep my cool and not accept whatever comes in my way.
I am a film buff. I watch films from all over the world. I can watch 'Pather Panchali' with equal passion as 'Chachi 420'. I am a great fan of filmmaker Akira Kurosawa. I also like to play chess and exercise. I am a black belt in karate.
