EEEKKK!!! Is it my turn already?
Okay...I come ready and armed with monkeys...
First of all, let me begin by saying that Priya, these memoirs were a brilliant idea. You are truly the innovative Captain Cool of the forum.
I've really enjoyed reading everyone's memoirs so far. Some of you may already know my story but anyway here goes...

Unlike many of you, I didn't discover Kis Desh until after it went off the air. I'm also in the minority here in the sense that my favorite telly jodi of all time is not the lead of the serial...but rather...the supporting jodi of Preet and Meher.

From Anjaani to Kish Desh ki Dewani
Actually, I was oblivious to the world of Indian Telly dramas, the shipping of couples, the longing stares, flying dupattas, sewing buttons scenes, the camera freezing on each character's face to capture their reaction to an event as thunder and lightening struck the screen...and of course...the classic Heroine slips and Hero catches her...in bullet time...so the camera can pan around and show them from every possible angle.
Yes, I never knew this world existed until I came across the drama Prithvi Raj Chauhan on YT.
Now, I love period dramas. My favorite book is Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice. So of course, I had to investigate. Despite being a child actor...Rajat Tokas's performance was so endearing I was hooked. I searched the net and found his other dramas and watched them...until I learned he was going have a role in Ekta Kapoor's latest Tere Liye.
Ekta Kapoor...who was that?
I didn't know...and I didn't care. If Rajat was going to be in it...I was going to watch.
Although the drama was going well (again kudos to the child actors) I was waiting for Rajat's entry. Sad to say...it wasn't a role worth his while...but Hello! I discovered someone else...that's right...it was Harshad the main man Chopda. I was floored. Good looks, good looks, more good looks, and acting chops to boost...wah!
Then Ekta started her sop routine. And if you know me at all...then you know that...
"Pushba...I hate tears."
I started skipping out on episodes...deciding to watch some Left Right Left instead...I mean, Harshad was in that too right.
Anyways...it was a boring, rainy Saturday and it was one of those rare occasions that I had too much time on my hands, so I decided to catch up on some episode of Tere Liye on YT. I happen to glance upon the comments and someone had pointed out that the drama had copied Meet's Dhadkan scene from Kis Desh. My antennae went up. Who were Meet? What was their Dhadkan scene like? Did Ekta copy someone?
I quickly learned that Kis Desh was Harshad's previous drama and that Ekta loves to recycle... clothes, jewelry, dialogues...and scenes. But like I said...I had time on my hands and I was intrigued. This was back in 2010 and all of Desh was on YT.
I started watching. Frankly, the first episode didn't impress me.
You have to remember that I was relatively new to Indian telly-soaps. I laughed at the idea of Lalit Juneja walking among pigeons reminiscing about his homeland and Heer running through a field of mustard greens...I wasn't interested in a DDLJ knockoff. Then something funny happened. Heer ran into someone's arms. It turned out to be Meher with a moustache...and I laughed. Okay let's give it some more time to grow on me I thought.
Several episodes later the boys made their entry and although I was happy to see Harshad...I mean Prem...the Juneja brother whose entry really caught my eye...was Preet. There he was lying on the bonnet of his car, listening to the soccer match he had no real intention of joining. Hai Allah! Can anyone really fall in love with a man's eyelashes? I sure did...right then and there!
What? I'm a girl okay...I primarily watch stuff for the heroes...don't judge me.
As the drama progressed, and without even realizing that they were the Meet I had come looking for...I couldn't help but love both Preet and Meher individually. They were so cute, and bubbly, yet incredibly supportive of their siblings. Any glimpse of them was a complete joy.
