Date Night
Prem and Heer had been married for five years now, and with their two kids, they thought they had everything in life. And life had settled into a comfortable routine, the same mundaneness every single day. Heer would wake up, get ready for her day, and wake Prem up to get him ready for work. She would then leave to go downstairs, wanting to make breakfast for everyone, and then off to wake up her kids. Prem, on the other hand, would get ready by himself in the morning, grab whatever was on the table, and leave for work, sometimes without even seeing Heer. In the evening, the story would be the same, each busy with their own work, and spending time with the kids and the family. They never seemed to get any time for each other, and the most affection they would show was a small hug or a peck on the lips before going off to sleep.
This had been going on for a year, and although both of them noticed the change, neither of them said anything, too tired and occupied.
Until One Day.
That day, Prem had taken his kids to play in the park, and there he had noticed a very young, and romantic couple sitting on the bench, holding hands, smiling at each other, flirting, and whispering to one another. Prem smiled looking at them, wondering how him and Heer would look like doing that. And that's when he decided. He needed to rekindle that romance that was lying low. He needed to do something.
So he began planning, planning for a night out with his wife that Friday night.

Heer woke up that Friday morning, the same, the usual. She woke Prem up and continued her daily routine. However, she was in for a surprise when she returned to her room in the afternoon. On their bed, a small note was their, written in Prem's handwriting.
Dear Heer,
Get ready tonight by 7 pm, wearing that sari that I left in your cupboard. We're going out tonight. And don't worry about the kids, Meher and Maya promised to take care of them. But remember, 7 pm. I'll pick you up.
Lots of Love,
Prem
Heer read and reread the note, shocked. Prem was taking her out tonight! Oh how long had it been since the two of them had been anywhere. She was so excited, and butterflies appeared in her stomach. Smiling, she rushed to the cupboard to see the sari that her husband had left behind for her. It was beautiful. A red sari, with golden beads and embroidery, Prem had chosen the perfect sari for his wife. Looking around, she spotted jewelry too, that matched this new sari.
Heer blushed, as she thought of how Prem might react, seeing her in this sari. Needless to say, she was a very happy woman that day, as she got ready, waiting for her husband to come home. As the clock neared 7, Heer went to Meher and Maya, who were sitting in the living room with all the kids, and she told them that she was leaving, and to take care of the kids.
"Kya Heer didi? Aap tho bohut khoobsurat lagrahi hain!" smiled Meher. "Han Heer bhabhi, this looks like a new sari, right?" added Maya, a small smirk playing on her face.
Heer blushed a deep red, hearing the two women tease her. "Han. Prem gave me this sari, and he wanted me to wear it" she said shyly, bfore running outside to wait for her husband. Behind her, Maya and Meher laughed at seeing the oldest daughter-in-law, Mrs. Heer Prem Juneja, so shy and embarrassed.

Prem was floored by the way his wife was looking as she glided down the steps. He quickly stepped out of the car and made his way to the passenger seat, opening the door for Heer, who just smiled shyly as she began to sit down. However, he quickly grabbed her wrist, and bent down to whisper in her ear "You look so beautiful Heer" and placed a soft kiss on her ear, before letting go and returning to the driver's seat.
As the couple drove along, the soft silence seemed to engulf them. Prem stole glances at his wife from time to time, before he finally grabbed a hold of her fidgeting hand and held it tight. Heer looked surprised, and began "Premm. What are you doing?"
"I'm just holding my wife's hand. Any problem Heer?" he questioned, a small smile on his face. Heer only blushed in response, surprised at how romantic her husband was behaving after such a long time.
When they finally stopped in front of the restaurant, Heer was once again surprised as Prem grabbed her hand, and the two walked in together, holding each others hand. "Mr. and Mrs. Prem Juneja" said Prem, as he talked to the waiter about their reservation.
"Right this way, sir" said the waiter, as he led the couple upstairs, to a private dining room, which Prem had specifically booked.
The waiter left them at the door, and turned to leave.
When the Juneja couple slowly entered the room, Heer was shocked at what she saw. The entire room was lined with candles, and the walls were covered with pictures of the couple since they had first met. Them when they were just friends, during their engagement, their wedding, random events, their kids births, a pregnant Heer. Tears welled up in her eyes as the two fondly looked over each picture, walking around the room.
"Prem… this much?" she questioned, looking up to her husband finally.
"Nothing is enough for me to tell you how much I love you Heer" whispered Prem, as he softly placed a kiss on her forehead. "I love you so much Heer, and the two of us just need to be together, be the old Prem and Heer, that spent so much time together, that were so romantic" he added, winking at his wife.
"Prem. You know I love you too. And Hmm. I agree. We should spend more time together" she said, as she softly placed her hand on his cheek. "without the kids" she added, placing a kiss on his lips quickly before turning away. However, Prem caught her by the wrist and pulled her back. "I would love that Heer. And how about we start that tonight? After dinner, you and me are going up to Shimla (which is only an hour away from wherever they are…sorry I'm really bad with places and distances) and the two of us get away for the weekend?"
Heer looked at him shocked. "The entire weekend? What will everyone say? And how about the kids? You know Chahat and Kush can't stay without us" she said.
"Hmm My dear darling wife. It was everyone else that suggested I take you away for the whole weekend. I thought of only Friday night, but they suggested we go away. So we will be and our kids can stay with their maasi and chachi for one weekend."
Heer was surprised at how much her husband had planned, and in all honesty, she did want to spend time with him, so she nodded, and smiled a reassuring smile, telling him that she was happy with all the arrangements.
The two of them rediscovered their relationship during dinner, as they reminisced about the many romantic moments they had spent in the past and the sweet memories that they had shared together. After so long, the two were completely absorbed in each other and each other alone, without any intereferences or additions in the background. And they thoroughly enjoyed it.
So after dinner, the couple set off to Shimla, on their little romantic getaway. After they checked in to their hotel room, Prem dragged their luggage, which Meher had so graciously packed, and set it in their room, only to find his wife standing by the window, staring out into the dark night sky.
Prem went behind his wife, and hugged her from the back, pulling her into him as he held her wait. Softly placing a kiss on her shoulder, he whispered, "The kids aren't here, and we're alone" the naughtiness evident in his wife. However, she played along, pretending she didn't know what he was talking about. "So?" she questioned, as she walked away from him and towards the bathroom.
Prem smirked before he grabbed her hand and pulled her down onto the bed, falling right on top of her. "So you really didn't know what I was talking about?" he questioned, as he held her hands down, and placed a kiss on each of her eyes. She shook her head no.
"Really?" he said, placing another kiss on her cheeks. She whispered "No". "Not even now?" he finally said, before plunging down to meet her lips with his own, and releasing the passion that he had withheld for so long. She moaned in response, forgetting all about her pretending not to know what he was talking about, as she kissed him back with just as much passion.
Out of breath, te two finally separated, and Prem began to trail his way down, removing her clothes, while Heer worked furiously on removing his before the two completely surrendered to their passion, their love and became each other's once more. The entire night continued similarly, and even in the morning, Prem wouldn't let Heer out of her bed. His only response to her pleadings would be "I've been missing this for a whole year now, so it's time to make up for it."
Late Saturday evening, the phone ringing woke up Prem, who opened his eyes only to find Heer sprawled across his chest, hugging him tightly. "Hello?" he mumbled sleepily into the phone, after placing a small kiss on his wife's forehead.
"Papa!" screamed his two kids, Chahat and Kush. "Papa. When are you coming home?"
"Chahat. Kush. Mama and Papa are busy right now, so we'll come home tomorrow, ok?" responded Prem, hoping and praying his wife didn't wake up to hear her kids. However, luck was not in his favor, as she had woken up to hear her kids screaming.
Heer quickly grabbed the phone from Prem and started talking "Chahat. Kush. Is everything ok?"
"Mama. Mama we want you to come home. We miss you" they both sobbed. Heer's motherly instincts took over as she responded "Aww. We'll come home as soon as possible, ok? I'll tell your Papa and we'll start right away." She then ended the call only to find a grumpy husband, facing the other way.
"Premmm. The kids are crying. We can't leave them unhappy, can we?" she questioned, placing feathery light kisses along his cheeks, as she turned him around.
"But you can leave your husband unhappy?" he questioned, still grumpy, but easily getting hypnotized by his wife's romantic gestures.
"Hmmm. How about this? What if we have a date night every week? Just you and me?" she asked, her voice low and husky, stirring her husband's passion all over again. And Prem's face sure did brighten up instantly. "Just you and me. Are you sure you know what you're getting yourself into?" he smirked, a naughty smile playing on his face.
"I love you Prem" she mumbled, before she herself placed a kiss on his lips, and got up to get ready to leave.
Prem watched his wife walk away. Yes. Things would now never be the same. They were once more the romantic Prem and Heer. Premeer.
