maria if u have VLC media player there is a sccreen shot option . u can easily get the snaps and make caps as per u like on PHOTOSHOP

and for Avi's .. download PHOTOSHOP CS5 and JASC ANIMATION SHOP if possible .. then we will go to the next steps .. and athi is very good with avi's she can help u
