Part 39

Prem jumped out of the car before it catches fire. He landed on the ground hitting his head hard. The people passing by noticed Prem lying on the gound unconscious. They quickly move away from the car and rushed with him to the hospital.

Aditi felt a hard pain in her heart. She looked up from her work and whispered 'Prem.' She become restless. She decided to call Prem. her heart felt a fear. She picked the receiver to call Prem. She stopped when she heard phone ringing in the downstairs. She waited for a while thinking someone may pick up the call. But it was ringing continuously. Soon she heard some one answering the call.

A servant shouted 'Maji sahib come fast.' His voice had fear. Aditi already thinking about Prem quickly grabbed Chahat in her hand and ran downstairs.

Lalit and Gaya3 hurried to living room Lalit with a panic 'what is the matter? why are you shouting like this?' servant 'Sahab. Prem beta.' Gaya3 with fear 'Prem'. what happened to Prem?' Lalit picked up the receiver from his hand. He dropped the receiver and fell down to the ground.

Gaya3 and Aditi rushed to him. Gay3 shouted 'Lalit, what happened to Prem?' she looked at the servant who is in total shock and blabbering 'Prem beta accident.' Another servant sprinkled water on Lalit face.

Aditi didn't understand but sensed something is wrong. He took the receiver and shouted 'halo halo please tell me what happened to Prem?' voice 'madam we are calling from city hospital. Mr. Prem Juneja is admitted here. He met with an accident and his condition is critical.'

Aditi screamed 'Preemmmmmmmmm.'

Hearing Aditi shouting Prem name in panic Gaya3 rushed to her. Gaya3 shook Aditi 'Aditi, what happened to Prem?' Aditi with tears 'Ma. Ma.' Gaya3 shouted 'what happened to Prem?'

Aditi 'Prem is in hospital.' With that she started running towards the door. Lalit also came to sense by that time with the help of servant and Gaya3 sat inside the car along with Aditi. Aditi was uncontrollably crying. Gaya3 got irritated by Aditi. But now she don't have strength to scold Aditi. Her thoughts are about Prem. Lalit is blabbering continuously and hurried the driver.

Daljeet came out of the room hearing commotion downstairs saw Gaya3 and Lalit moving out of the house in hurry. Daljeet enquired a servant and came to know about the Prem. she quickly ran to Ash who is happily sleeping on the bed 'Ash, get up.'

Ash sat on the bed 'Ma, why are shouting as if tsunami.' Daljeet cut in' get ready we have to go to the hospital.' Ash 'Hospital. why?'

Daljeet told about Prem accident. 'now we have to be with them to create more sympathy.' Ash and Daljeet got ready quickly. When Ash is about to apply makeup Daljeet stopped her 'we are going to show our sad face.'Ash won't go out without doing makeup felt hard to digest but she decided to put up an act according to her mother.

Aditi holding Chahat close to her heart got out of the car. She didn't care about Lalit or Gaya3. She ran towards the reception and enquired about Prem. Gaya3 helped Lalit to get out of the car with the help of the dirver.

Before Gaya3 and Lalit enter the hospital Aditi reached ICU. She asked a Nurse 'Prem, where is Prem?' Another nurse 'Are you related to him?' Aditi is with tears unable to answer. A doctor who came out of ICU 'ya she is his wife. Get the signature fast.'

Nurse calmed Aditi 'madam, you come with me.' She made Heer sit on the chair. 'Listen Mrs. Juneja, his condition is critical. His head is badly injured. Need your signature to do an operation.' She gave her the paper. Doctor came there to meet Aditi. While signing 'He will be okay after operation isn't it?'

Doctor 'we cannot say anything until he opens his eyes. His condition is critical.' Aditi with tears pleaded 'I want to see him now. Please.'

Doctor 'Heer, calm down. We cannot allow you to see him now. please understand.' Heer 'Please. One second. I won't disturb him. please.' She cried.

Doctor pointed a place 'from there you can see him.' Aditi ran to the place. Through glass she saw Prem lying on the bed. Blood all over his head. Doctors and Nurses are putting bandages. Oxygen mask on his face. Trips oneside and blood on the otherside. Soon they transferred him to the stretcher to take him to the operation theatre.

Aditi hugging Chahat sliding down along the wall and sat on the floor 'Prem' she cried. Lalit and Gaya3 who came there asked a nurse 'Prem. we are his parents.' Nurse 'he has been to take to the operation theatre. His wife is there.' She pointed Aditi who is sitting on the floor and crying.

Gaya3 thought 'Wife? Who is that?' she turned and saw Aditi crying like a mad hugging. Gaya3 ran to her 'Aditi,' Gaya3 'Ma, they have taken him to operation.' She turned to Lalit 'Dad, they are saying' she cried covering her mouth 'nothing can be predicted now.'

Lalit and Gaya3 sat on the chair holding their head. Lalit looked at Aditi who is now sitting on the opposite chair hugging Chahat and crying. He thought 'Why she is crying for Prem?'

Chahat started crying pulling Aditi dress on her chest. Aditi wiped her tears and got up picking up Chahat in her hand. 'I'm going to canteen to buy milk for Chahat.' Lalit nodded. Aditi moved to a place away from their site. She moved to the waiting room. She sat in a corner and started feeding her. She covered her head with her dupatta and also chahat.

Lalit crossed that side to meet one of his old friend working here as doctor. Aditi quickly turned her face away to other side. Lalit for a second stopped thinking Aditi is sitting there. But he disposed that thought 'she went to canteen to get milk.' He walked away.

Daljeet and Ash came there acting as if they are the only cared person for Prem. Daljeet hugged Gaya3 'Gay3 what happened? Why should he suffer like this? First his wife left him now this kid has no one.' Gaya3 got irritated by her words. 'he will be alright.' Dlajeet hugged Ash 'ha for my daughter he will come alive. She loves him very much. Her love will bring him alive.'

Lalit 'Daljeet, we are already tensed. Don't shout here.' Daljeet thought 'this old man never change. Can't he understand my pain.'

Aditi after feeding Chahat walked back to ICU. Gaya3 and Lalit are sitting.Daljeet and Ash looking around sitting next to them. Aditi sat in the opposite hugging Chahat, who is now sleeping peacefully in her hand. Aditi stared at sleeping Chahat. Her eyes filled with tears. She cried thinking 'nothing will happen to papa.' She is gently stroking her hair. She blew hair on her forehead. She kissed her cheek and forehead now and then.

Lalit who is watching all these thought 'why she is so much attached with this kid? Is there any previous genam connection between them?'

Daljeet sighed Ash to get the child knowing chahat is sleeping 'act as if you are taking care of Chahat.'. Ash walked to Aditi 'is she sleeping?' Aditi nodded.

Ash stretched her hand 'give to me. I'll take care of her. we don't need you anymore.' Aditi sad but hiding that she handed Chahat to Ash. As soon as Ash hand touched Chahat skin, she started crying. Chahat opened her eyes and held Aditi dupatta tightly. Ash is trying to take Chahat ignoring her cry.

Gaya3 saw Ash trying to take Chahat out of Aditi hand 'Ash, leave her. she won't come to you.' Ash 'no aunti I can manage her.' Lalit 'no you can't' Daljeet pulled her back 'leave it.' She lowered her voice 'devil won't come to you even in her sleep.'

As soon as Ash took hand off Chahat body, she stopped crying and drifted into sleep. Aditi smiled looking at her face. Soon smile faded when she thought about Prem.
