Chapter 23

Heer was in shock after receiving the call from the hospital and tears were coming out of her eyes and something was happening to her heart and then she quickly got changed and she wore her green churridar and she ran to gayatri's room to inform her and she opened her door and she saw gayatri was reading a book and she got scared seeing heer crying and gayatri put the book on the table and she came near heer and she said "heer what happened did prem said something to you?" heer couldn't talk she was sobbing but gayatri got scared and she said "heer tell me beta I will talk to prem" she caressed her cheek and wiped her tears but heer couldn't stop crying she took a courage and she said "maa..p...prem...had...a ACCIDENT" gayatri fell on the floor on her knees and she started crying and she said "no you're lying heer this is not true" heer sat beside her and she put her hands on her shoulder and she told gayatri about the accident and the phone call from the hospital, and then she helped gayatri stand on her feet and she said "maa lets go to the hospital" and gayatri nodded she was crying and was feeling weak heer held gayatri from her shoulders and took her downstairs and she made her sit in the car and she sat on the driver seat and wiped her tears which were unstoppable and she drove to the hospital.

At the hospital heer parked the car and she came out and helped gayatri to walk into the hospital and she went to the reception and she asked for prem and they told her that he is in the operation theatre and they gave her the directions, heer took gayatri to the operation theatre and they waited outside the OT gayatri was continuously crying and she was totally broke and even heer was shattered from inside even though how much she hated prem but still he is her husband and she was missing him, she wanted him to be okay, and then heer saw the doctor coming out from the operation theatre and she asked him "doctor how is prem? Is he okay?" doctor looked at her sadly and he said "we have done the operation and now we have shifted him to the ICU but he is still unconscious, we have to wait for another 12 hours to see if he responds" heer was shocked to hear that and she said "doctor can we see him please" doctor said "I'm sorry but we cant let anyone see him" then doctor went away and heer sat with gayatri and she said "maa there is nothing to be worried about prem is fine now" she lied to gayatri because she doesn't want her to get sick or something and then gayatri said "heer I want to see him" heer held back her tears and she said "maa we can see him in the morning" gayatri sniffed and she said "okay" then heer said "maa shall I inform bauji and preet about prem" gayatri wiped her tears and she said "no beta I don't want them to get worried we will tell them in the morning" with saying this she hugged heer and cried on her shoulder and heer did the same. Then after sometime gayatri fell a sleep on the chair and heer got up and she went to the door which had small glass and prem was inside that room heer watched him from the window he was lying lifeless on the bed and he had machines around him his head was bandaged, by seeing him heer started crying and what she really wanted to do at that time was go and hug him.

In the morning gayatri and heer was waiting for the doctor outside the ICU and then after some time the doctor came and heer ran to the doctor and she said "doc can we see him how is he?" the doctor said "I'm sorry to say but if he doesn't respond soon than there is a risk he might go in coma" she put her hand on her mouth and she stopped herself from screaming in pain and she had streaming tears coming out from her eyes and she started walking backwards and she hit the wall and she started crying blaming herself for prem's condition if only she didn't had a fight with him he wouldn't have been in the hospital then, she composed herself and she went to gayatri and sat next to her and she didn't say anything and gayatri was just about to say something when the nurse came and she said "doctor said you can see Mr. prem juneja" heer and gayatri both got up and followed the nurse to his room. Gayatri sat on the near by chair next to prem's bed and she touched his cheek and she was crying, heer was standing on the other side of prem and she couldn't control herself and she had tears in her eyes and then she slowly slid her hand in his and she squeezed it but there was no response and then after staying there for a bit and then the nurse came and she said "you guys will have to wait outside now because we need to do some tests" gayatri went out of the room and heer was about to go when she felt her hand being pulled and she turned around and she saw a movement in prem's hand.
