oh ya, that's the secret id of gollum.

gollum is this sad little very old used-to-be-a-hobbit creature in the story of ''the lord of the rings'' by j.r.r.tolkien. gollum used to be a handsome little hobbit. but he had some ... er... bad personal hygiene problems on account of which no-one would love him. and so he ran away from all hobbit society, went down to the deepest darkest place that he could find and stayed there, living on dank water and slimy fish that lived in that water.

ya. is a sad story. one must pity such creatures... *sympathetic muh*

No doubt that Shakespeare would understand it's gollum... I just never pegged Shakespeare to be a fan of Tolkein. 😆

you figure correctly (as always) 'bout shakespeare and tolkien. i just figure that if he knew him, he'd probably ... approve of tolkien. i'd like to think that everything since shakespeare kinda got born from him, one way or the other. so somewhere in those old bones in that old grave would be a whisper of the little folk, and the shadowy outlines of middle-earth. no? 😆
