Tell us about your role in Khwaish.

I am playing Kabir, the eldest son of Dubai-based Pakistani business tycoon Shahnawaz Khan. Kabir is full of life, soft-spoken, warm and responsible. He is the most loved person in his family.

Q. What is the show about?

Essentially, it is a love story set against the backdrop of two Pakistani families. But you will have to watch the show to find out how they meet and fall in love.

However, the show is not just about love and romance. It has all the spicy ingredients. It has grey as well as comic characters who are a part of all family dramas.

Q. Does Kabir have shades of grey?

Kabir is a positive character, very responsible and respectful towards others.

Q. Will the class difference between the lovebirds be the cause of friction in the love story?

I suppose so. The grey characters in the serial may use it to create trouble in their love story.

Q. How was the experience of shooting in Dubai?

I am really happy shooting in Dubai because I am away from the hustle bustle of Mumbai. We shoot for 12 hours and after that you are free.

In Mumbai even if you work for five hours, you don't feel relaxed because you are occupied with many other things.

Q. Since this is an Urdu serial did you have problems with the language?

Language is bit of a problem and I was skeptical about it in the beginning. But we have a dialogue coach to help us with words and pronunciation. It's difficult, but I've managed to do a decent job.

Q. Serials with Muslim background, with an exception of one or two, have not done well on TV. Do you think Khwaish may find it difficult to get high ratings?

I don't think so. Khwaish has a different feel and texture to it. I think good content works, irrespective of the backdrop of a Hindu or Muslim family.

Q. Wasn't Ejaz Khan Ekta's choice for Kabir?

Was he? I think he was supposed to play another character in the serial. It really doesn't make any difference to me if 10 people were considered to play the role before it came to me. I am happy doing it.

Q. What has happened to your role in Kyunki?

I really don't know. In the last three months I have shot for Kyunki for only five days. The character is nowhere to be seen in the current track that's going on with the introduction of new characters. But Gautam will definitely come back, though I don't know when.

Q. Are you done with your role in Karam?

Yes, it was a cameo. It lasted for about two months and is now over.
