And the fragrance continues into the second week.
Story-wise the momentum is slow with first Shruti and Sanjay learning that Harsh's insurance payout has been cancelled as he had committed suicide. Shruti tries to hide the fact from her family but soon everyone comes to know.
But the focus of the drama is more on the emotional aspect. Let's start with the friendship between Shruti and Sanjay which has disapproval from Sanjay's mother and Shruti's bhabhi. Seen from their point of view it s correct. Sanjay's mother is worried about his spending all his time for Shruti's family instead of getting married while Shruti's bhabhi represents the society that does not understand a friendship between a man and woman. But the best part of the friendship is that it is exactly what it is meant to be - a man willing to help his late best friend's bereaved wife as much as he can. Sanjay comes across as the best friend any girl would want in her life - understanding, helpful and caring. In that relationship, Shruti looks weaker at the moment but that could be because she is the one who needs help right now.
Next are the kids. Similar in their positive attitude towards life but oh so different in how they tackle it. While Khushbu is chhoti nani with her bookish, statistics-reelinng, practical nature making her seem the elder one of the sisters, Ami is the bubbly mischievous but emotional one for whom the only enemy in the world is maths. Such is the energy and life that these two bring to the serial, that it is very difficult not to get drawn into their world of naughtiness and forgive them like Shruti does when Ami donates her books to the maid in the expectation that she will like other kids soon have new textbooks. When she goes to buy the books at the used books place, it is wonderful to see her expression and the teasing by the other kids when they realise that the maid had made profit and she was going to buy her own donated books.
The play that the kids come up with to scare Jasuben into giving money to get the roof fixed was another treat to watch. They really thought the lawyer had come regarding the roof and solved the problem without any court case. Another great scene was when the roof falls on Khushbu and she is stunned. Everyone is so nice to her and Ami diverts her mind by picking on Baa and saying how calamity was diverted as roof could have fallen on her at night as she slept right there.
Nani and Baa share a good relationship and though there was not much focus on them this week, it is obvious that they understand each other and Shruti very well. Nani especially is really clued in into Shruti's moods and understood that there was something wrong even when she came back with sweets after hearing the bad news
The last but the most powerful emotion in the drama is the mother-daughter bonding with most focus being on Shruti-Ami. I loved how Ami did not know how to let Shruti know about the insurance policy and the reason they had given and how Shruti evoked Ami's idol's (her father) memory and said she will always trust Ami and her words.
Now that Shruti has learnt that Harsh's colleagues had given statements to support the case that Harsh committed suicide, I am looking forward to know what is actually going on. The precap where the superior doctor threatens Shruti with her job, and Ami losing her temper, can only push the family into worse situations
