Yasmin as far as i know, mandap mahurath is the time when we take the first step for wedding prep. which is making a mandap and then ceremonies start with Ganesh pooja.

I am not too sure dear... but if i think i am right... then before they set up the mantap for the marriage... they usually do puja before the mantap/pandal is put up.
