I have already completed more than twenty years. When I started, Doordarshan was new for everyone. Now with so many channels, it is highly competitive.
Which was your first serial?
My first serial on DD was Shridhar Kshirsagar's Stree in which I played a small role.
Which are some of the important serials that you have acted in?
Although I started in 1987, it was only in 94-95 that I could establish myself as a serious television actor with serials like Daraar Ajnabi and Waqt Ki Raftaar'.
How choosy are you about roles?
I am choosy to the extent that it should satisfy my urge to act. I am in for any type of role.
Is comedy your forte as an actor?
You could say that since my comedy role in the serial Hum Saath Saath Hain
as Ram Kapoor is among the most memorable as people till date associate me with the role.
I believe you met Omar Sharif recently!
It was a historical meeting for me at the residence of Raju Shrivastav. In fact at the start of my career with the Yatri theatre group we had staged one of Omar Sharif's play Aao Na, based on Kisse Keh Rehey Ho which was a downright comedy. After meeting him we decided to revive his plays again, after twenty years.
Tell us about your play with Poonam Dhillon.
I play Poonam's husband in My Perfect Wife. It has been a great experience working with Poonam, since she is such a charming person to work with.
Which are your ongoing serials now?
Kasauti Zindagi Kay and Kayamath.
Which was the happiest moment in your life?
When I gifted a flat to my dear mother.
