Thanks Sumu I'm so happy you liked it, indeed Inder is insensitive but he'll soften up or rather circumstances will lead him to that. Prachi will land up in Milind's taxi don't worry. 😊

Chp 5

"Maa aap kyun chali gayi...." Mom why did you leave? Prachi had questioned her mother, her smile frozen in time as she peered at her helpless daughter through the photo frame."Kyun mujhey akela chor diya, Papa mujh sey nafrat kertey hain, mujhey aapka qaatil samajhtey hain, kyun maa kyun?" Why did you leave me alone. Papa thinks I'm your murderer, he hates me, why mom? she wept in tribulation. "Kiya merey naseeb main kisi ka pyaar nahin, na aapka na Papa ka?" Am I not entitled to anyone's love? Neither your's nor Papa's? she had inquired in anguish as she clutched the frame close to her heart her warm tears dripping on the pillow absorbed quickly by the soft cotton wool filling. "Bina puchey Papa ney Varun sey meri shaadi tey ker dii, yeh bhi nahin socha keh zindagi guzarney ka mujhey bhi haq hai. Aaj tak Papa ney jo kaha main maanti aayi bina koi sawaal kiye per main Varun sey shaadi nahin kerna chahti maa.... aap samjhaiye na Papa ko... please maa please." Papa never asked me about my consent before arranging my marraige with Varun, he didn't even consider once that I too have a right on life. I've always done what Papa has asked me to do till yet but I cannot marry Varun mom... please explain that to him please. Her pleas echoed in the spacious bedroom as she wept in consternation unknown to her kaka had heard each word she had uttered. The old servant had been more than a caretaker for her, he had raised her ever since she was a two day old infant. Her tears inflicted his heart and somewhere deep down he knew he was equally to blame for her condition. Many a times he had tried to muster enough courage to confront his master on the step daughterly attitude he had fostered with Prachi for long but had never found the time or strength to do so. Words fell short when he would watch Inder gaze at Premlata's photograph with longing, he understood his dissidence would only make Inder more miserable something he had not wanted. But tonight his patience had been tested too far he simply could not stand there watch the child fret wretchedly while Inder festered his wounds. Wiping away his tears he had let Prachi gently close her red rimmed eyes as sleep pervaded her senses making her enter a peaceful realm. "Main ussey bhej raha huun bas tum ussey airport leney aa jaana.... or koi raasta nahin hai. Saahab ussey eik jahannum sey nikaal ker dussrey main bhej rahey hain yeh sab hota main nahin dekh sakta. Jo kaha hai woh kero bas haan theek hai" I'm sending her that's it you come to take her from the airport... there is no other way out. Master wants to send her from one hell to another and that I cannot see happening. Do what's been told with that he had replaced the receiver on the cradle content in a very long time. Tomorrow she would leave he would make her leave.

"Kiya saahab bola na nahin jayega, malum hai airport kitni duur hai" What man I told you I can't go do you know how far the airport is Milind had remarked irritatedly at the young man who seemed to have made it a point to baord Milind's taxi at all cost. It was late evening and Milind feared if he drove there at that moment not only would he have to return late also he would be too tired to complete any of his household chores. "Please bhai saahab agar strike nahin hoti to main zarur koi or bandobast ker leta per abhi mera jaana buhut zaruri hai, mujhey kissi ko pick kerna hai merey ilawa iss sheher main uss ka koi nahin. Please samajhney kii koshish kijiye." Please brother if it wouldn't have been a strike I would've found an alternative but I have to be there now. I have to pick someone there's no one besides me who knows them in this city. Please try to understand. Sunil had requested a dubious Milind, if it hadn't been for his mother's insistence he would never have consented to look after Prachi Shah in the first place. But now she had given her word to his maternal uncle in England, he had raised Prachi and did not wish to see her being married off against her will. The reason he had arranged for her to leave England for Mumbaii. His sister resided here with her son a young man of about twenty four who slaved away at a garment factory to make both ends meet. As it was he found it difficult to feed his two children wife and mother who were dependent on him, it bothered him to think that Prachi was an added burden. Though Kaka had assured his mother that Prachi was capable enough of looking after herself she just needed shelter for the time being someone to call her own. As Milind reluctantly sped on the empty roads to the airport he was filled with concern for his father hoping to make it in time to feed him his dinner. Lately Baba had become difficult to manage he would simply refuse to take meals and it took Milind quite some time to coax him to eat a few morsels. Milind suspected Baba had ruled out a plan to starve himself to death and if that was the case Milind certainly was not going to let that happen. His current chagrin had left Milind angry and frustrated Baba was his last hope, his motivation to live if he too gave up on Milind who would he live for. As it was life held no meaning to him, he lived because he had Baba to look after that was reason enough for him. He had lost too much to let go of Baba that easily he simply couldn't lose him now and he wouldn't he had promised himself.

As Prachi stepped out of the Boeing 777 she was spellbound at the contrast of surroundings. The thronging terminal reminded her of a soccer match she once attended at Cardiff's Millenium Stadium back home. Only then she had had the luxury of returning to the safety of her room but now she had burnt all ships to stand there on unknown soil. She had been completely taken aback when Kaka had thrust her ticket for India in her cold hands that evening. She had just gotten over the biggest shock of her life and wasn't prepared for another. Varun it appeared was a spectacular human being rich, funny, warm caring the kind every woman would want as her man. The only problem was his love wasn't meant for any woman his heart was ruled by Alan his homosexual mate and companion since school years. As he poured out his heart to Prachi she had stood transfixed trying to absorb all the news in her muddled brain. Varun was a gay the more devastating part was that his parents knew about his condition and his love interest yet they had forced him to go meet Prachi who in their belief was a cure to his obsession with men. Prachi could not believe the cruel game fate had played with her, this was yet another blow to her fragile heart that had shed tears of misery knowing that her father had already approved of the match. As she sat sobbing in her room Kaka had entered it in a state of frenzy "Jaldi kero beta waqt buhut kam hai" Come on child hasten now for time is less he had informed her in hushed tones. Pulling out her bags he had filled them with clothes and necessary items required for travel. "Per Kaka main kahaan jaa rahi huun?" But where am I going Kaka? she had questioned him surprise evident from her tone. "Meri behen key paas Mumbaii main, main ney baat ker lii hai sab tayyari ho gayi hai. Yeh raha tumhara ticket Visa to laga hua hii tha tumharey Papa ney to tumhain Varun key saath Delhi bhejney ka programme banaya tha. Per Varun ney inkar ker diya is liye unhon ney tumhain kuch bataya nahin." To my sister in Mumbaii, I've made all arrangements. Here's your ticket the visa was already applied your father had planned to send you to Delhi with Varun. He denied for the trip the reason he never mentioned it to you. This was too much for Prachi her father had wished to send her away that too without having any info on the guy he was sending her with, how could he be so cold hearted "Papa ney mujh sey pucha hi nahin" Papa never asked me she had complained heart brokenly. "Tumharey pita ney kab kisiki sunni hai jo ab suneyngey neechey gaari khari hai tayyar ho ker aa jao jaldi. Inder saahab party main gaye hain un key aaney sey pehley tum chali jao." Has your father ever listened to anyone that he would start doing it now, the car's waiting for you get dressed and come down quickly. Master has gone to attend a party you better leave before he returns. Kaka had wanted her far away from England before Inder would come to meet her and inform her that he had indeed fixed her wedding in the following month.

Such were the circumstances that had caused Prachi to flee her haven, her home at Watford to be lost amidst the crowd here at Mumbaii airport. It was a blessing that she knew hindi the national language of the country. Kaka had always coversed with her in the language deeming it necessary for her to learn it. She scoured the awaiting group of people huddled outside the glass doors Sunil Sharma she repeated the name for the hundreth time in her mind. He was Kaka's nephew and had to be here by now holding a pla card with her name on it. Sighing she roved her eyes again on the sea of faces outside the terminal gates, yes there he was a sorry figure wiping sweat off his brow. Smiling for the first time through out her trip Prachi had wheeled her luggage outside. "Mr Sharma" she had inquired in her heavily accented english causing quite a few to turn around and stare at the beauteous maid. She was beautiful no doubt her long black hair was pinned on either side flowing free down her back, her face was glowing with innocence her hazel eyes deep and soulful with curled lashes that fringed them perfectly. Her lips were full and attractive and right now were parted in an endearing smile to reveal a set of perfect white teeth. Tucking her vagrant tresses behind her ear she had searched his countenance for a positive response and much to her reief he had smiled back at her. "Prachi Shah" he had confirmed as she nodded her head in agreement. Milind had gazed at his watch in ire the man had asked him to wait outside and then drop them home he was ready to pay the fare for the round trip too. Milind had consented as it meant less time spent to procure another passenger and he'd be back home in no time. As his eyes lifted for the umpteenth time towards the crowd afar he was startled to see Prachi walk gracefully besides Sunil, for a moment he had forgotten to breath. Her camel hued skirt swished rhythemically around her ankles as she followed Sunil casting an apprehensive look at her surroundings every so often. Her eyes were the most mesmerizing ones he had ever seen smoothing her champagne shaded blouse she had turned back to look at the airport one last time wondering where destiny would take her next.

Yes Varun's parents know he's gay the irony always is that the parents are the last ppl to accept their child's flaw. Yes Kaka loves her too much to see her life being ruined, finally yes Prachi will board Milind's taxi.😊
