Looks like, Shabbir Ahluwalia's rough and tough image is in for keeps. Post his shootout drama in Shootout At Lokhandwala, he seems to be getting mostly action based role. Now his role in the forthcoming Mission Istanbul has a violent streak too. He plays a gun-trotting Afghan terrorist in the action-packed film. As if that wasn't enough action, in his television soap titled, Qayamat, he is soon going to be behind bars. Only this time, it will be for a crime he didn't commit.
In this Ekta Kapoor soap, as is characteristic, there is a sudden twist in the tale. Shabbir is shown to have murdered bhis sweetheart, 'Ayesha', played by Sanjeeda Shaikh, No prizes for guessing the prime suspect. Typically, a death scene is full of morose looking people. However, on the sets of Qayamat, there was more masti than drama. Sanjeeda says, "Shooting for a death sequence is very irritating and frustrating as an actress. Since the past three days, I have been lying in one place, with a straight face as the other actors enact their bit."
In most of Ekta's serials, often an important character is killed and then he or she resurfaces amidst high melodrama. Shabbir says, "It is the 'never say never' attitude. You can never predict anything here. It depends. She may come back, she may not." As for Sanjeeda, despite the 'frustrating death sequence', she doesn't mind being killed in the serial. She says, "I don't interfere creatively. The creative head of my show must have thought of something before taking such a decision."
As for Shabbir, he doesn't mind going behind bars for yet another crime. He doesn't flinch at the 'negative' tag that is imposed on him. He says, "I have been really lucky in that matter. Initially I thought, my fans will hate me for all the violent characters I play. However, they seem to have accepted me." In a short span, Shabbir has made his identity in on the small screen. And going by the looks of it, it's just a matter of time before he establishes himself on the silver screen as well.
