Today with us is that Fuji who is hugging all his fans nowadays, joking with them and giving them his expensive watches too. We are talking about King Khan who's rocking as KBC's host.
Thank you for coming on NDTV. You've done a few episodes of KBC now. What do you think, you've got the hang of it?
I love hosting the show and if I were younger and didn't have to wear suits and all these people weren't watching me, I'd jump and show how happy I am. This was a very popular show and the expectations were high. Al the team members of Siddharth and Star have put in a lot of hard work. Yes there were comparisons, and I was coming on TV after many years and a lot has changed. Over 30 million people watched us so only a few out of 1 billion are left. We will try our best to make everyone watch us.
But how do you feel with all these new terms and TV being associated with your name?
I only know the name of the business, not what it means whether it's Tam or Pam or Sam. But from the smiles on our team's faces it looks like it's like DDLJ time.
If ever someone feels sad that he didn't win as much as he hoped to, I give him my watch. This is from the heart, it wasn't a set idea. If it were up to me, I'd give all of Star TV's money to everyone. They have to restrain me. I want everyone who comes to win something and have a smile on his face. Not go empty handed, but with a nice feeling.
3. Talking about your fans, you are now used to the fact that you have countless fans who love you. But just yesterday we saw one person who wasn't a big fan of yours. How did you deal with that?
I don't think that everyone is my fan. Everyone should have the freedom to choose which actor, film or show they like. The thing is that this place is a little awe inspiring. We are all in the media so we don't feel that way but those who come here. Come from different cultures, backgrounds, upbringing and it's a lack on my part that I couldn't make them feel comfortable. Normally people get comfortable after the 1st 5-6 questions but she took 12 questions to get to that state. Then just before she left she said….
You hugged her?
Yes and she said that her respect for me increased after this show but I think it was one of the true moments, closest to reality. Anyone who comes here can say anything they want to me and they can joke with me like I do with them.
We've heard that on KBC you're planning to do a Khan ka Gyan (Knowledge from the Khan) or you'll say something new. What is that?
The idea is to bring something new after each 10-12 episodes. We've done 'freeze', and 'we are waiting for you'. Some have been liked and those which are not liked will fade away. Now we are thinking of a tongue-in-cheek thing called Khan ka Gyan which my friend Triyambaka Vidyavachaspati will be sending. They could be funny or could be something to learn too. Like for instance 'muft ki roti chuhedaani me hi milti hai'. That means you cannot get anything for free.
Congratulations on being selected for Madame Tussauds. What preparations are being made for that?
Their team is here. They have started taking measurements. They want the pose to be of 'come fall in love'. I don't know that pose but they have reference. They are leaving tomorrow and it feels great to be able to take my kids there and show them. It's an honor that the Hindi film industry folks are being accepted there and I'm very thrilled. It's been a good one month.
I'm very lucky that without being a fastest finger contestant, I got to be on the hot seat. Thank you.
