The condition of Amitabh Bachchan, who underwent an operation for intestinal problem at Leelavati Hospital in Mumbai, has improved and he is responding to treatment, according to Samajwadi Party leader and Bachchan's close friend, Amar Singh.
Singh, who visited Amitabh at the hospital, said the actor was in the ICU and the vital parameters were normal.

"Bachchan has thanked the media and also the people at large for showing concern towards his health and extending wishes for a speedy recovery," Singh added.
Visitors at the hospital included Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray and his wife, industrialist Anil Ambani, chairman of Sahara group Subrato Roy, actresses Jaya Pradha and Kiron Kher, and filmmakers Madhur Bhandarkar, Ram Gopal Varma and Tinu Anand.
