Something to talk about

I know people aren't fans of the current track and the character development of Prerna, Anurag, Bajaj. They want more organic and realistic approach to the stories. However if they had tried something different with the show and wrote each character properly included mohini would the tv audience accept it? The problem is the tv audience. I've seen so many people complaining about ekta shows recently on other channels but guess what they have good TRP. That means the tv audience buy what they watch and this is the reason why Indian tv shows can't be good and well written. They buy into the drama. For the tv audience it's all about the girl in marriage suffering by the hands of her mother in law, divorce & remarriage, showing the female lead only as a housewife. If the female lead needs to take revenge her only solution is marrying that person. She can't do that independently. Channels interfere in the shows so that they can get the TRP.

Take a look at Erica last show. That was one of a kind and something that was rarely seen on Indian tv. The story was positive, realistic and had great character development between leads. We had a female modern heroine. The show wasn't popular because of the TRP but because of the youth and the online audience. The TRP was low and this was a great show and ekta shows are bad and they get the highest TRP. Sony was good enough to let the show air as long as it could and then bring it back. But other channels aren't like that.

I feel bad for these actors because as an actor you want to do a show that is interesting and well written. Actors are suppose to get scripts that push them to be their best and unfortunately in Ekta shows that is a big NO. Erica only defends her character and show because she is already a part of it. I do admire her loyalty and even though prerna is written bad she is doing a great job making the character her own. Hopefully the next project for her will be better.
