Chapter 2
'Relishing love'
' Relishing Love '

"Excuse me."Adhya gruffed under her breath, blinking her eyes to Abhimanyu in convincement, she walked out of the room.

"Kamble, listen to me carefully."She spoke in breathy vocals rubbing her temples with alacrity. "I just got a call from some random number. I will be emailing you within minutes, just extract the information about it."she accosted walking to-and-fro in the narrow gallery that conjugated their bedroom to the living space.

' Is that number +919876******?'

Adhya stood bewildered on her spot for a second or two, before raking her fringes backwards "how you know about it?"her eyes squinted in astonishment ,though they weren't visible to the person on the other end.

"Sir."he paused in an attempt of confirmation if she was there at the other end and getting to the positive answer through her little 'hmm' he continued "Patil Sir,Khan Sir and Arora Sir too got a call from the number with the gap of four minutes in each call. I was locating the device already."

Her movements freezed for enigmatic events that happened and she felt weird sensations on the account before mumbling a soft "Alright!".

"You take rest, sir. Patil sir and Khan sir are going to see the matter. If required we will call you up."he added before the line could be declined. "Do let me know if any problem occurs."she sighed hopefully, crossing her fingers in a prayer to be not called in the midst of the night.

Installing her cellphone in the pocket of her slumbersuit, she yanked her hair into a pony and twirled them around her fingers to get the bunch done in a bun; leaving a lean tendril on her right cheek for it's length failed to match as of others.

"Everything alright; darling?"she heard Abhimanyu from behind when she closed the door after her. Turning to face him she smiled faintly out of the weariness. "Hopefully everything is. But I can't exactly say about that."she placed her cellphone on the night stand and climbed up the bed, occupying the place next to Abhimanyu.

"What happened? You look worried and your eyes have reddened."he pulled her closer through the waist and she willingly shifted her head from the pillow to his chest.

"My pillow."she mumbled softly and a ghost of smile played on his lips.

"Switch off the lights,Abhimanyu."she groaned groggily rubbing her eyes and yawned.

His hands stretched to the side of night stand, grabbing the controller he dimmed the light intensity rather than switching them off. The dimmed golden lights circling the mirror pattern ceiling enlighted the room as if sunrise in a roofless chamber.

"You didn't tell me yet what happened?"he complained rummaging his fingers through her tresses and his husky vocals affected her enough to curl her toes under the blanket and her eyes closed in pleasure,on it's own accord.

"It's wierd.Very wierd. But I am glad they didn't called me up to look into the matter."she sighed in relief , drilling her chin in his chest and tilted her face to him. "Someone called me up...when you know we were...er...umm.. kissing."he nodded his head in acknowledgement as the crimson spread across her skin.

" He spoke weirdly. Just three lines and the line went dead. I tried calling back to the number but... no avail. I called up Kamble."she paused seeing his confused expressions and made out the reason behind his lingering confusion.

"Our techie. He just got transferred a week ago."she informed, rubbing her nose.

"Oh!"he mumbled.

"Kamble told me that Patil, Khan and Arora too got the same call at the interval of four minutes. Along with the similar events of line going unanswered. It's weird; isn't it?"he was quizzical, his lips pressed against each other in a grim.

"It is , darling. I hope it's some prank call but then no stupid would dare to call an ACP."he reasoned voicing.

"I just hope it is."she rubbed his stubbled cheek with her fingers making him smile at her and he moved forward to seal her lips in a soft yet passionate peck. "How was your day?"she asked, calming her raged breathes.

"Hectic. Yours?"

"Frantic."

"Huh? Why so?"

"You know the mayor is just crazy. Insane. He couldn't contact his very wife on account of his daughter's whereabouts and wrapped my team around his fingers in search of her."she fretted on him reminiscing the amount of time they wasted in the stupid ruckus and evaluated what better things could be done. Abhimanyu stayed still listening to her ardently with just a constant smile lingering on his face and canoodling her fringes making her bun loose.

"And moreover we had some charge sheets to be filed in the court today and because of his stupid stunt we lacked members to complete the task. I had submitted just few of them and a huge pile of files is still left undone on my table. The month is reaching it's end soon and I better get it done before 27th.And today is 23rd. Just three days."she grunted pondering.

"You loosened my bun."she whined making his smile grew wider with now teeth being flashed."Smiling as if did a great job."sarcasm dripped through her tongue.

"I did, baby. I did."his lips staged to her crown shooing her frown and stretching a proud grin on her face.

"You look beautiful with free locks."he praised, giving yet another peck to her nose as she ducked her head coyly.

Adhya tickled his chest through the tip of her sharpened nose, inhaling a good amount of balmy scent of his mint and avocado shower gel. "You smell...so tempting."his eyes glistening with voluptuous desires, her eyes melting in his the same way.

With her hand resting on his chest she could feel the convulsions his frolicking heart made. There breathings being the only sound heard, she reclined, resting her nose on his ;when eyes closed in the silent synchrony. He pulled her more into him as their lips sealed, tongues slipping over other in the call for dominance.

She balled her fist on his nape for the oxygen has began to lack in her senses, yet they didn't wish to part and monitored their desires for few seconds longer when he couldn't restrain and gave away. Their lungs sucking in the air and heart capering in the thoracic cavity, foreheads resting against either's till the breathings calmed down.

"I love you."her smoky vocals under the effect of blithe compelled his lips to linger more on her skin. "I love you,Adhya."his kisses trailing over her jawline as she sucks in a good amount of air,in her anticipation.

"Happy Anniversary,Abhi."tears spurted across her corneas as she looked him in daze, his actions freezed for a moment and grin graced their lips simultaneously.

"Finally!you wished."Abhimanyu beamed at her, embossing her lethally but that was all out of love. "You know ,I was waiting for you to wish me first."he spoke softly with his fingertips gazing through her locks.

"And I thought, you forgot about it. So,you know...I was testing you how much time you will take to realise but then I couldn't held back this enthusiasm."she smiled sheepishly, his heart flooded in joy but then at the same time he his heart skipped a beat knowing that one day this all will be destroyed.

He will destroy her,her innocence, her love for him, everything that attached them would be all destroyed for once and all if in case his darkest truth came out.

"What happened to you?"her voice concerned, for the haze of destroyed future blurred his vision, paleness made a picture in his manifestation. He triumphantly shook his head in declination followed by a jerk in his shoulders for a half-shrug.

"I have something for you."his voice soothing with the husk of love amalgamated, she smiled wider unexpectant if he would really remember about their first anniversary even after the toil he incurred but the events seemed to be way far different.

She sat upright, beaming with a joyous glint making his heart shudder with the guilt for it may not last longer if she spilled the beans that can rot their lives.

He definitely loved her but at what cost he could save her to himself ,was a matter of uncertainty.

"What is it?"she beamed, smiling her brightest, her dusky skin under the luminescence of the amber lights felt as of a substrate of pure gold. He leveled up to her with his hands on the sides,he darted into her eyes. "I love you."his voice hoarse, jostled her to shiver.

"I know."

It was strange to her,not reciprocating his 'I love you' rather she acknowledged it. Seeing his creased prow, she planted an osculation on his forehead and voiced "I love you,hubby...Abhi."she paused looking at that intensity in his eyes, "Woah...that was rhyming Hubby-Abhi." And wantedly lighten up the atmosphere, unknowingly that hard streak of worry faded from his mind the minute he saw her throw her head back chuckling as he...just admired her.

He climbed down the bed, walked inside their walk-in closet as the sounds of shuffling could be heard by her, from behind. She smiled in content, rubbing her hands against either and raked through her hair to straighten them, freely falling.

"Here it is."he exclaimed making a way to her,all that she could see was a glass jar covered with a gingham patterned metallic lid. Her eyes flew open widely, making it clearly visible she was so not expecting a gift of that sort.

Who gives his wife an empty glass jar on their first wedding anniversary?

But she failed to commit to her memory, this man has been an exception to all her expectations.

"Wh...what is this?"her voice flat in confusion.

"This."he looked on to the glass jar in his hands and shy features prevailed on his face making her curious for the answer. "This is a jar which I wish you someday soon would demand to get it filled with pickles."he paused looking for her understanding to his cue but their wasn't any change he could notice to her prior reaction.

"You know what I am intending to ?"his voice held an enchanting seriousness to it.

He darted into her eyes for a minute before they went wide and she gasped when the realisation hit her,sharply...too sharply to be precise.

"You...you...intend to impregnant me?"her voice shaky for she didn't see it coming for at least two years more.

He bursted to the laughter fits seeing her aghast dictum. For a moment, her mind was numb and besides that carefree chuckles of his all she could hear was numbness in the air--or might be in her senses. She could very well hear the propel of blood in her ears, before the numbness was cut down as he calmed himself. Adhya ducked her head, eyes centrifuged to the cris-cross pattern on the tinge of blue and grey gradient bedspread.

"I hate you!"she modulated adenoidal.

"Well-"he sighed and took a place next to her, climbing up the bed.

He placed the glass jar in his lapel, and forwarded his palm for her to hold as he continued "this is a happiness jar. Which means,we have to make a chit of everything positive or joyous happened to us in the day and preserve the chits till it gets filled...till the lid. We cannot miss a day and the ritual needs to be followed by both of us."

"It's going to add positive aspect in our life, being in search of something positive somehow we will search our way to each other even when we have ugly brawls. Reading through this will coax you or me to give to give up on our ego and get back...you see I did something more in my favor."he winked at her with mischief swimming in his golden pools, she smiled heartily and in all these consequences she discovered one more reason to love him more.

"And moreover,if someday or other we break apart by fate then we will look through these chits to cherish all those beautiful memories we made together."tears sweeped it's way down her waterline, and Abhimanyu was swift enough to kiss the roughened brine away from his darling's supple skin.

"I don't want to stay afar from you, ever."the firmness of her voice spurted with her breakdown.

Adhya didn't know why she felt so much driven by sentiments when she internally battled with herself on the account for nothing to go wrong between them, neither today nor ever. She coiled her arms around his frame, keeping the jar aside and felt Abhimanyu's heart beating in synchronisation to her own.

" Forevers, don't lasts. They are just made to promise. And promises are made to be broken."smile tugging his lips faintly as he detached her face from the crook of his neck and subtly wiped her trailing tears with his thumb on both the sides of her cheeks, cupping her face as his slender dactyls brushed over her ears.

She gained a reign over her breathes and scolded herself mentally for acting this childish but then a part of her agreed to his opinion about forevers.

Her phone ranged with it's privileged ringtone of Ekla Chalo Re, thus breaking the romantic bubbles in the air.

She watched him in horror, but Abhimanyu silently nodded to her with an indication to pick the phone up before the line goes off. Unwantedly, she stretched her hand out to the night stand placed at her side of the bed. Her tears dried, and smile blown away seeing the number flashing on her screen.

' Vikram Patil ' she read and shut her eyes close summarising herself to be ready for the errand at her hands, mentally. And even before she could attend the line went off. "I have to be prepared."she declared to herself, loud enough for Abhimanyu to hear as he waggled his eyebrows questioning.

She surfed through her recents in the call log when again Patil's name flashed on her screen. Sliding the green sphere to the right of her screen she made it contact with her ears."Anything serious,Patil?"she spoke maintaining her curt tone to Vikram Patil, the sub-inspector of New Mumbai police station.

"Tag the location with crime barricades and call the forensics, right now!"her vocals furious of the astounding information she received a minute ago from Patil. Her eyes conflagrant with the passion that nerved to lead for her professional success. Abhimanyu watched her slugglish expressions as she declined the call, her gaze stuck on his, with a ghost of smile gracing her lips.

" Opportunity knocked on my door!"

Chapter 3

' Catastrophic fragrance'

' Catastrophic fragrance '

The ever so tacit lane of Holkar Bridge beamed with flashes of camera and the hubbub of cops circled the black Audi A4,parked at the extreme end. The mighty droplets drizzled,as the squad of cops and the forensic scientists endured the mild phlegm. Nodding their head in acknowledgement to the presence of their senior, they gave Adhya space to tower over the car frame.

Adhya's eyes dilated at the unfolding sight, a well-built muscular body laid on the driver seat with his eyes closed as if in a peaceful slumber...but unfortunately it is going to last forever. Her nose flared with a strong fragrance that swam in the air.

Hypnotic Posion, her mind chimed.

A strong feminine scent she was known to,the classiest fragrance she owned and was gifted two months back when Abhimanyu was off to Paris. "The smell?"her rationality was lost pondering over the aroma in the car.

"The scent?"she whispered in confirmation, Mehtaab Khan,Senior Inspector, leaned forward to inhale the fragrance what Adhya was talking about.

"Air freshener."Khan masked his caustic claim under amusement.

"It's not that!"her acerbic wits silenced him.

Adhya's Perception

I could prominently feel the aura of negativity, that unleashingly subverted in the air particles. I rather chose to lean forward than letting the avidity play a cross chase game with me.

"Sir-"I heard Patil's eager call from behind, with a palm out to him,he know what I demanded at the moment: a profiting silence and most importantly, a pair of gloves.

With my knees slightly bent,as my wrist slipped into the silicon,I leaned forward to cast out the air freshener grid attached to the films of air conditioner. Holding it in a tight grip,I brought it near my flaring nostrils to take in a strong citrus relish;which evidently matched my expectations.

It's absolutely a DIOR.

No matter how much ghoulish is felt,I had to lean over his dead frame and smelled an ounce of his tuxedo for the detection of the suspicious fragrance...and it was none. The scent dominated the air again, the moment I rose my head and mistakenly it struck to the door sill.

"Shit!"I cursed, and rubbed the effective area of my head.

"Patil-"I turned to face Khan who moved aside a bit as Vikram Patil, Assistant Superintendent of Police, moved in my view.

"Where is the forensic head? Is it Niharika or the...other one?"I enquired, stepping back few steps and held the crime barricade in air to exit the circle.

"Sir, it's Niharika here."he explained pointing to a girl facing us with her back, cladded in white coat and a pigtail held high.

"Hmm... it's alright."I jerked my shoulders in a half-shrug and walked towards the canopy of birch trees towering over the arena where I parked my car.

"What I wanted to know is--did you found the phone?"a shrewd bitterness crept on my face as I watched him turn pale in my glare.

"We successfully do. But... it's in integrated form, all broken except for the motherboard and few other chips. Even it's SIM card was trashed before we could trace it."a calm and premeditated prudence was barefaced as he talked,my heart skipped a beat fearing for the illegal modes they must have used.

"Don't tell me...Kamble used it's IMEI code? Without Permission?"his sour expressions were enough to convey how the circumstances have lead to.

I couldn't help the facepalm, which was in fact a reflex for the ordeal it added in the list. "My God!"I sighed in exasperation, closing my eyes to surp the unnerving feeling of ferocious fury. "I couldn't believe...you people would support that."I glanced a disappointed look at him.

"We are sorry,Sir. But...we didn't had any other option in hand. Moreover,if we waited for the written permission then there was a probability of us taken as mere comedy. We couldn't let that happen."he expressed his burlesque feint of evading blow turning me tongue tied for a minute.

"Don't worry,I will look into the matter."I declared, jamming my palm in the front pocket I drew out my phone to dial on Kamble's contact number. "I need you to stay back and tow the car for the further investigation and register the dead body for postmartum."I mumbled putting the mic under my fingers,as Patil moved on my command.

"Hello...hello..."I heard an inaudible grunt from the other end of the line, and conjugated it on my pinna to sort the matter out.

"Kamble! ACP here."

"Sir-"

"Kamble,I need you to write down a requesting letter on account of tracing the phone with it's IMEI code. And get it signed by me at the earliest before you land yourself in some justification trouble. You have to lie about it...that you got it sign at my home just as I called you;if in case you are asked about."

"I would surely complete the task. But, sir, is there any mention of the time on the letter?"

"No, it's not. It's just that I wanted to sort things clear before we mess at it. If in case any higher authority takes you in interrogation."

I sighed in relief, gradually things would fall in the right place.

"Sir, there's more I wanted to share about. Ever since Khan sir informed me about Vivaan Kapoor's dead body that they found in the car,I was searching about him and found out today was his wedding reception arranged at his residence in Bandra."

"Wedding Reception? And he is found dead here,at Holkar Bridge."

I internally shrieked with this abhorrent piece of information, this was so much... unexpected.

"Kamble,I will talk to you later." I voiced with uncertainty, still in daze on what to do or what not to. This case is going to be the news headlines the other day,I was sure, after all it's a mysterious death case of nation's sensational singer and actor. And now my disquietness has started to peep in knowing that: it's not like those easily tactful murder mystery.

"Sir!"I gasped with the intrusion, bringing me out of the uneventful thoughts.

"Niharika?"I breathed a sigh"Everything alright?".

Though I was doubtful of my query but my doubts became an unwanted reality when she shook her head in declination."It's raining, though mildly but it did disturbed the traces and finger prints."her eyes flicking in fatigue,as I listened to her ardently.

Her laboratory coat has turned wet still she wore it,the wet wisps of her ponytail covered her forehead yet with the minimal concern to she stood facing me confidently.

"We tried but it's next to impossible if we can actually get any preferable evident to strengthen the case."her every word felt mechanically measured...but all of that lead to nothing except for demoralisation.

"We still have a chance to trace the finger prints on the steering wheel, but we better not conduct the process here...since you know the rain would actually prove to be the rain on parade."her hands waved in air whilst she explained with ocassionally narrowed eyes and slight head tilt.

"Patil sir has called up for the team to tow the car and my team and I would get into the further procedure...the next morning-"Niharika spoke fidgeting with her fingers,"if that's fine with you."she added.

I casted a glance at the crime scene, my eyes transversing around the circling squad of cops and the scientists with their varied demeanor of panic stricken to extremely calmed. "You can start with the procedure tomorrow."I vocalised guttural, with my sour throat.

She passed me a coy smile, before she spun on her heels to get away.

"Niharika?"I called,as a nagging thought struck me.

"Do you know about Vivaan Kapoor's wedding reception today?"I spoke in sottovoce, hopeful of her being knowledgeable on the matter.

She subtly nodded her head in agreement with no ado to voice in words.

"Vivaan Kapoor and Sanaya Chopra's wedding affair have been in limelight since last two days. They preponed their wedding, which was initially decided to be in the month of November. "I stood in delusion with events being preponed and then this...and on top of that what does those serial phone calls imply at.

"Tonight was their official wedding reception in Mumbai and on the twenty sixth of this month, the same would be celebrated in Delhi."She added as if on cue.

I politely nodded to her in acknowledgement before she reflected the same and moved away for the wrap up.I discarded the silicon touch of gloves, and walked ahead to get my team prepared for another round of action.

"Khan-"my voice high-pitched, gaining his attention to serve the clue to him on joining me.

He eyed Patil with some unsaid resistance, probably fearing of my fury, I could clearly witness Patil blinking his eyes to him before Khan walked over to me.

"Khan, inform Arora to supervise the team in your absence and join me for the interrogation. Kamble must be messaging the address soon."I commanded in the cold stone dialect,to which Khan nodded and went ahead to inform the same to his mate.

A blink on my cellphone caught my attention as I surfed through the notifications on the status bar to find Kamble's message.

'Ashray: 24/57 at Bandstand,Bandra west.' I read and forwarded the message to Khan, for further reference. When while exiting,I noticed another popped up notification on Whatsapp. I clicked open to notice it was from Abhimanyu,at 3:08 a.m.,nearly around when I informed him for my arrival at the location.

'Stay safe. Have fun in the drizzle;-) which I know you must be having a lot;are you? Don't start dancing without me and focus on the case. I know you are crazy girl! I love you,Adhya<3'I couldn't control that twitching smile on my lips with that sarcastically sweet message from him. I simply shook my head in amusement, drawing my cellphone back into the pockets.

"Sir,Shall we proceed?"I heard Khan as he moved ahead me towards the gazzetted vehicle the team was entitled with. Nodding my head to him, in a swift, I got into the car announcing about the address I forwarded;to which he agreed.

"How much time would it take to be there?"I asked as he brought life to the engine.

"Around one hour or less, keeping in mind the less rush in the early morning hours, at five."

I nutated my head in avouch, and chose to stare out of the window in the gleaming and clinging water droplets surfaced through the glass stunning the lush green scenic beauty. Mixed with the droplets that clangoured I could readily see the shimmering Amber street lights that dimmed in haze.

'
Mehtaab Khan flicked Adhya out of the sweet slumber she was dozed into after a fatigued day. She stirred in her giddy state, rubbed her eyes innocently squinting to find something known . She gasped as she turned to her side and noticed Mehtaab Khan, her junior officer. Embarrassment surfaced on her features but then she couldn't do anything else than duck her head with a short lasting facepalm.

"Erm..."She heard the other door being unlocked as heavy feet touched the ground, letting her know he exited.

She sighed in dismay, before reaching out to unlock her side of the door and setting a foot on the ground. The buzz of loud music beamed in the air as they stepped near the entrance of Vivaan's mansion.

The bubbling jazz was a suspicious quirk to the tales Adhya and Mehtaab rather imagined. Lost in the daze of the uncertain happenings, they were brought in senses by the enquiry of watchman reported on the spot as he stood dazzled on the glass window, dressed in smoky gray, eying them suspiciously.

" Mumbai Suburban Police."Mehtaab forwarded the ID card to his notice as he silently unlocked the gateway on cue.

The drizzle never seized throughout the night, but fortunately it wasn't raining cats and dogs to be an avid hindrance to the procedure. Still covered and drenched in macintosh,Adhya and Khan moved forward inside.

With their every step the decibel of Jazz elaborated, the chandeliers hung at the Port with the dimly lighten light in day seemed enchanting but the mind numbing sensation a look at that gave were just too grave. There was a griping tug at Adhya's heart thinking how the joy tuned into the mourns. But then there wasn't a thing she could do to it.

"Sir-"Mehtaab called."The commotion seems to be too ignorant about his absence."he produced his opinions to her certainly, with his eyes revolving around the chamber taking in view of every nook.

Adhya noticed the creepy door bell, which undoubtedly seemed to be of some rustic eighteenth century copper and might have sold at higher price under the impression of 'antique'. She gripped the protuding clapper in sweaty hands and struck it to the other end with force as the metal clincked to sound, low enough to went unheard.

"That could not help in this noise."they turned on toes to witness a well built man dressed in jet black safari suit, touching the cord of a perfect bouncer allocated for the job.

"I am Caleb Arthur, the chief security member at Ashray. My mates have informed me about your visit,I would prefer to guide you inside."his eyes darted at Adhya, under the mask of his shades:which were surely weren't required in the sprouting morning sky covered with clouds.

"Shall we?"he prompted again seeing the unmoved officers in front and moved ahead to Adhya's side to unlock the door. The duo discarded the macintosh at the threshold and faced the door.

"Remove your shades!"the orotund command from Adhya was clearly not what he expected.

Caleb turned to her, with his charming wits grimacing his features he in acted deaf when it was Mehtaab who encored the sentence for him before Adhya could.

Understanding the firmness the duo stood with Caleb had to agree with terms and removed the shades. He produced the spare key from his pocket and unlocked the door for them leading them to a home version of club, they weren't expecting to and a smirk made it's way on Caleb's face.

The rainbow lights slashed in the dimly lighten room as the music pierced their ear drums, numerous of people swaying their body to the beats but none looked visible under the effects of light. A silvery ball hung around the ceiling, shimmering into multiple colours.

"Mr.Arthur?"Adhya and Mehtaab called for the chief security person,in unison.

"Shut the music off."her pitch raised high enough to be audible in the noise. Heading to the disc jockey he turned the system off. The crowd grunted in displeasure irritating them to the core, some dwindled in intoxication while others just passed out and laid ruthlessly on the floor. If anything besides the ear piercing jazz air was cumber with than that pungency of retch and fermented alcohol. She squirmed her eyes closed in disgust but after what is done it is a fait accompli.

She moved towards the DJ counter, clamping her nostrils ,considering the pungent inhalation a sin;followed by Mehtaab. "Can I please get the mic?"she requested whilst the crowd growled challenging every bit of her patience.

"The party is over people. You better go home, now."she declared adenoidal, with her clamped nose.

Besides the murmurs of the imbecile mob she cared least, she dropped the mic and requested Mr.Arthur to bring Sanaya Chopra, now Sanaya Kapoor, Vivaan's newly wedded wife: for interrogation.

"Khan, you collect the CCTV footage regarding all the guests and the other information registered to the security."Adhya instructed to Khan as she saw a feeble and drained Sanaya Chopra walked into the picture, climbing down the stairs.

"Khan!"Adhya signed to him for the ordeal as he silently moved to the chief security person,Mr.Caleb Arthur.

"Please,Mrs.Kapoor."Adhya motioned to the bar stool in front of her as she took a seat on another near the bar counter. Sanaya on the cue, wiped her teary eyes and took a seat. Adhya fished out her cellphone and switched to the video recording mode for her statement.

"Anything important, officer?"Sanaya's vocals croaky.

"Can you tell me of which brands' perfume you use?"

"Huh?"Sanaya's expression paled, as if she was caught off guard her mask. She stayed confused before she decoded and answered accordingly.

"Calvin Klein...Gucci...Versace...Dolce & Gabbana...Giorgio Armani...Dior...and...Yves Saint Laurent"she licked her lips with anxiety, eying to her sides. Adhya's keen mind stopped at the DIOR.

"Can you tell me which fragrance you prefer in Dior?"

"Pure poison...miss Dior... J'adore...joy...and Dior addict."she pronounced, shrivelling in Adhya's menacing gaze.

"Where is Vivaan Kapoor?"

" Vivaan is sick...so he is resting upstairs."her tauty words with shallow breathings were audible to Adhya who was sitting at the distance of half-a-meter away from Sanaya.

"Can we see him?"Adhya vocals turned throaty as her phiz zoned to emotionless.

"He...he...erm...he needs rest."

"Mrs.Sanaya Kapoor, he has been resting for forever since last night. And to your information,he isn't upstairs;is he?"

"Look,I have no idea what you are talking about."Sanaya's dread bursted, her vocals disembodied for the moment whilst she watched Adhya sat unnerved with her sharp orbs darting in her own.

"Let me explain it clearly-"Adhya stretched on her seat, still holding the camera to Sanaya's statement " We have found Mr.Vivaan Kapoor's dead body at Holkar Bridge in Audi A4 MH 02 XA 6786. Is it his car?"

Wonderful, wonderful and wonderful!
It's so exhilarating to imagine Erica/Prerna in such a role. I can totally imagine Erica portraying this role on screen.
3chapters- so far so brilliant!
And the hidden future inferences and the sense of impending doom- ah! It's just adds more spice and flavour to the story.
And the relationship b/w Adhya n Abhimanyu is so beautifully portrayed!
It's such a wonderful read!
Do update soon, EAGERLY WAITING!

Chapter 4
'Put on a show'

" Gunni, black coffee for me!"rubbing her nape to ease down the sprouting pain Adhya dwindled the alloyed key around her index finger. She tilted her nob to the sides, when her eyes caught sight of Abhimanyu's gaze stuck on her with a smirk adoring his lips. Her lips unknowingly stretched into a sly smile, with crimson creeping from beneath her collagen.

"Good morning!"his sing-song overtly sweet amalgamated with those notorious dimples on his cheeks. He leaned over the door frame of kitchen with his arms knotted over his chest, and sighed in infatuation.

"Good morning! Hubby Abhi."she played along.

"Good morning!"another voice rung, making the duo turn their head towards the staircase as Vijay climbed down.

The notorious grins twirled to be fawning amused. A chortle yawn escaped her buccal, her drooping eyes flickering in the name for her deprived sleep. Adhya stretched her wrist heaving a deep sigh of fatigue and stood on her toes, with her lips parted.

"Jo... job, Dad!"Abhimanyu stuttered on receiving Vijay's jittery glare and cocked eyebrows. Adhya understood the pun intended in his silent query on hearing Abhimanyu's claim and straighten herself the very next moment.

"Erm... I was out...on duty."she completed with seeping embarrassment.Shaking his head in acknowledgement and biting his inner cheek to prevent chuckling on their worth watching embarrassed face,he acquired his pew. The mischief restricted previously was back in flow of his veins,as soon as her drowsy eyes met his,he winked at her leaving her slugglishly flushed.

"Milk!"her tonsils dried up with the volume she shrieked at the spilling milk kept on fire that the vitreous glass displayed from the living room. Abhimanyu's eyes widened at realisation as he rushed to switch the LPG supply off within seconds. He heaved a sigh of relief and so does she with Vijay being a silent spectator of all this chaos. "Happy Anniversary Abhi--Adhya!"Vijay chirped with a gleaming smile to notice their flurried expressions, Adhya's wrinkled prow and Abhimanyu greeting him with a straight face.

"What?"he asked innocently, for the unexpected reaction of the couple for his greet.

"Since last five minutes you didn't remember it and now...you are wishing when all this mess happened."Abhimanyu shrugged his shoulder in a half amusement while Adhya passed a tight-lipped smile as if on cue to agree with Abhimanyu's term when Vijay looked at her expectantly. "You people are so ungrateful-"his hands swung in air with his eyes oscillating between the two "-atleast I remembered".

"Anyway, thank you Dad!"Adhya beamed in her croaky vocals and rubbed her throat up-and-down to ease the gruffed pain. "Gunni-"her eyes roamed to the nooks of the house but she couldn't found her in sight "Where is Gunni,by the way?"

"Why you think I am inside the kitchen--boiling milk at eight when I had slept pretty late last night?"his sarcastic smile stretched which in turn flattened her lips in a straight line of grim.

"Who asked you to stay away from home out so long?"came her remark with a disinterested tone making up for the irritation she kept under guard.

"What to do you mean by that?...Of course I wasn't happy about it either but then it was because I have had a job to fulfil."he straighten his posture as the callous side of him kicked in for the call. "What if I would claim for the same, after all even you left for the case around two in the night? But then I am being understanding here for you and your job commitments."his ends of the eyes wrinkled for the squinting eyes he have been looking at her the way.

"Abhimanyu, can we just not fight today?"tears sprinted over her cornea while she watched a keen Vijay, witnessing their fight silently, with the corner of her eyes. Fights her common in couple, she warmly welcomed the fact but then including a third person as a witness to it wasn't something she favoured.

"You are blaming me now,as if I started this-"and before he could spell the evil out she released her lower lip from the torture of her teeth "Fine!...I was the one who started. But can we just not-"she gobbled the lump at the intersection of her vocals cords. Her shoulders hunched back in a mental defeat and she silently left for her room in the brink of the moment.

"She cares for you...a lot!"Vijay's acerbic wits challenged the numbness that silenced his rationality. Abhimanyu stood unmoved with numerous of thoughts striking over his work function but then the freedom to all of those was yet again a null. "You shouldn't have blasted like that after all...you know she seemed groggy and quite pissed off. Maybe because of her late night errand."Vijay sighed, as his fingers unknowingly went on the command to tap on the glass of table in anxiety.

"Look... Abhimanyu, she respects your job and it's complications but then all she is concerned about currently are your eating habits."his eyes darting deep on him, Abhimanyu ducked his head with realisation and silently walked up to him and acquired a seat. Heaving an audible breath, Abhimanyu preserved to give away his reaction with his palms masking his face and his shoulders mellowed down mildly.

"Look at yourself, see what you have become from past two weeks...You are no longer concern about your biceps-triceps or abs like you used to,then you are clearly not on your balanced diet lately and getting frail too, though not undernourishment for the diet plan you followed prior."his eyes widened at realisation on how everyone noticed every bit of his debonair for his health.

"I was just too absorbed for this case...it is really important."his tone defensive.

"I understand you... about that but then you should know that you need a proper sleep and diet to function efficient or--you know there's no use in just stressing yourself out for being to careworn."

"I guess...you need to preach her about understanding me too."his dactyls uncovered the guilt his expressions said it clear,as he slouched his chin on his fist supported by his elbow. "It really helped me."his amiable smile graced his lips and contagiously reflected on Vijay's lips too.

"Now,I got to see her for what she is up to?"saying so he discarded the chair and spun on his heels for the path to their bedroom.

There she laid senseless on bed,her torso stretched in diagonal with the feet touching another end and out of all her breathes erratically smooth with periodic deep inhalations and exhalations. He closed the door after him and tip toed to tower her lean figure whilst he encrusted her body under the duvet.

Sitting at the edge of the bed, next to her, he rummaged through her hair that were released from a tight bun just few minutes ago. Her amber uniform changed,he noticed, with the lilac coloured lining of her sweatshirt peeping. Her eyes swollen with petty pale dark circles lining her eye balls that clearly indicated it wasn't for the first time she had to give up her sleep for her job. He smiled apologetically, unsaid tears brimming up his orbs whilst he pressurised his tonsils to not let his sob escape. He simply bent and graced his lips on her crown, for quite a minute longer than usual before he confessed his love for her "I love you...too much but couldn't help hurting you anyway."

' Jodi Thor Dak Shoone Ko Na Ashi Tobe Ekla Cholo Re
Jodi Thor Dak Shoone Ko Na Ashi Tobe Ekla Cholo Re
Tobe Ekla Cholo, Ekla Cholo, Ekla Cholo, Ekla Cholo Re...' that's when she switched it to the green icon while taking in the fresh oxygen and curling her wrist being in the bed itself. A groggy yawn stretched out her body as she glanced sideways, probably in search of him. An audible voice drowning in her senses when she realised it to be a call and swiftly attached the cellphone to her ear.

"Yes?"her soar vocals evident.

"Good morning, ACP Sharma. DCP Narayan Tamankar this side."and the sharpness of his words were enough to set her straight and attentive.

"Good morning Sir!"her crispy salutation kicked in uneventfully.

"I am sad to inform you about your application for the off today has been cancelled as the new case has lined up-"he paused hearing her low gasp but further continued "and congratulations to you and your team for successfully arresting one of the robbers of Unital ATM of Vaashi branch, among the three."

She was too numb to react for being unknown to the success he was stating about. But she had to comply with her etiquettes"Thank you, sir!".

"Welcome!"saying so he declined the call, even before she could speak her mandatory 'Jai Hind'.

Detaching the cellphone from her pinna, the vibrant wallpaper caught her attention as she watched the intricate design of colours criss-crossing spellbound. "You are awake?"Abhimanyu's entry startled her for a second.

"No... it's my ghost."she smirked, and her tone challenging.

"Isn't that you who proposed not to fight...today?"he removed his palm from the pockets of his trouser and rubbed his temple thoughtfully.

"I do."she sighed, with sadness surfing "I was not intending to. Just that I was pissed off lately. You know how crazy I become when I am sleep deprived."

"With no doubt,I know how crazy you can be."he smiled closing the door of their walk-in closet.

"I thought you would disagree to this and would make me feel like that's not the case but-"

"Should I?"his eyebrows crooked, she excitedly nodded.

"Then I better not, in fact never."he added smirking.

"Anyway, why didn't you woke me up?"she asked discarding the duvet from her, unmindful. "Well, you know--"his temple wrinkled with his scrunched nose as he pretended to stutter "you know, I couldn't risk my life waking up the violent devil of your subconscious while you're asleep."

"That was not funny."

"It wasn't intended to."

"What's the time, anyway?"she shrugged her shoulders and discarded the bed in swift.

"Eleven... Maybe."he answered rubbing his stubbled chin wondering.

"So?...What are you wearing for the day out?"he beamed with his contagious joy but that couldn't last long when Adhya's eye caught the displayed time on her cellphone.

"It's half past eleven."she closed her eyes in regret.

"I am Sorry!"her eyes flinched open in an instant, watching him smile at her apologetically.

"I...I... didn't realise you were just concerned about my health-"he pouted"and I thought you are trying to be dominating."

"You thought that way?"she asked, carefree to mask that hurt in her tone.

"Sadly,I reacted that way but wasn't too thoughtful about the issue. I was just...like you sleep deprived, thinking about you-"he scrounged her in a hug" and then those dirty dreams played a trick." He confessed making her chuckle as she patted his chest playfully.

"Abhi?"

"Hmm..."

"Fights between couple is fine until they are within the walls of their room. All I want from you is to have control over your outrage in front of others if it's on me. I don't want any third person to witness what our relationship is like or we had a fight."she requested him earnestly.

"And I am sorry that our day is spoiled-"he detached her away from the hug and watched her expressions inquisitively whilst she pressed her lips in a grim line.

"My day off has been cancelled for the Vivaan Kapoor's mysterious murder case."she made an irritated face while Abhimanyu stood struck on his spot, his limbs weakened and his mind swimming to a mind numbing sensation.

"Vi...Vivaan Kapoor is dead?"his voice barely a whisper.

"You m-mean The Vivaan Kapoor?"

"Uh...yeah!"she walked to the bathroom and stood at the threshold facing him. "Last night when I told you about the opportunity I was indicating about this high profile case that came up."she closed her eyes praying for the peace to his soul "I know I shouldn't be that selfish but then...by gones are by gones and we should see the brighter side. This case is seriously going to help me with my promotion to Deputy COMMISSIONER OF Police."

He watched her smiling with his crinkled eyes as the truth sunk in his brain,"You can alter with Dr.Pathak's appointment for Dad today instead of tomorrow since our day is totally in the drain, as for now and moreover it's the last dose of his meds left."she articulated walking into the lavatory.

"Abhi...Abhi..."she called him out from inside, breaking his chain of thoughts and before he could bring himself to the notion of Vivaan Kapoor's death.

"Ye... yeah,Adhya!"he calmed his nerves down trying his level best not to reveal the strain his brain is incurring or else something would be out that he didn't want to be.

"Anything you need,Adhya?"he asked, though his body was shivering with unsaid fears as the sweat beads trickled down his forehead.

"Is it still raining or it's better now?"

He looked outside the window, "Well...erm...it rained heavily till eight but now it's mild."

"Uh-okay!But still...can you please dry my macintosh with the hair dryer or something? I forgot to spread it over the car roof to dry."she chimed at him and he left to help his darling with comprehension,or rather moved out to get himself stable and out of their sight before they notice the change in his demeanor.

"You seems to be worried,Abhi."she darted her eyes on his which flicked the next second, taking a cumber breath she continued"I am really...very sorry for the mess. I know how excited you were for today and so were I but, then this case is important. I love you,Abhi!" They stood in the deserted parking lot of the apartment they lived in,near to her car. Abhi leaned forward to hug her, confining her to his arms as the car frame backed her.

"I love you too,Adhya!"his choked vocals compelled her to skip a beat.

"What are you hiding Abhimanyu?"

"Nothing-"he sighed as her grip grew tighter than before and he knew she didn't buy that excuse "I was just hurt...hurt that you don't understand my situations but want me to fully support you when any problem arises. It was our first wedding anniversary but we couldn't even spend a day together for the sake of your job, and then you blame me for coming late."

"I...was-"her fragile words were cut off.

"I know you were concerned but then I too have a job and a case similarly important like this one to you."he further added, failing to mask the wreck in his voice. She was rendered speechless when the harsh realisation of words stroke her heart as if a piercing bullet, "Anyway, you should leave now. It's already twelve."he moved a step away from her while she watched his conscious moves.

"I have dried and kept your kempt macintosh on the passenger seat at front."he spoke with his crooked finger pointing through the fenestra behind her. But right now after his confession, she was too lost to check things out as she felt insecure of losing her most cherished being,he is.

"Bye,love!"he planted an osculation on her crown.

"Abhi-"she called for him in her feeble voice when he started to move towards the elevator. "Yo...you won't leave me;right?"her tears spilled from her waterline when she found him unmoved ,with his back facing her.

"I would never...no matter what comes up."he tilted his face an inch towards her with a disarming grin that melted her heart with love. "I love you."he mouthed feeble, with no sound resonating and she mirrored his gleaming smile though not heartfelt. In a swift, she wiped her trailing tears;breathed deep and then sat inside her car to drive away from the ramparts of her residence, their home.

Driving through the topsy turvy cults with the ugly thoughts invading her senses, she mentally battled and won above all to reach her premises of arrearage, the police headquarters of Mumbai Suburban branch. Banging the door shut, she breathed in the confidence of a cop as her postures unknowingly grew rigid and features, cold.

Unlike the tick-tock of her heels, her flat shoes dragged on the cemented flooring, "Senior Inspector Mehtaab Khan."she announced to the passing by constable while entering her cabin and on cue the constable went to call the former. She heaved a sigh when the pile of red, lilac, green files came into her sight resting on her desk.

A lot more work to be done is left.

Like a ritual, her eyes rotated for the search of a mirror hung on the left of her gazzetted chair with the tag written in arial bold red, 'If I am dressed properly?'. She adjusted the cap over her tight bun, and stretched the collar studded with the label of her being worthy of it.

"Sir?"a knock on the door drew her attention, as she permitted the entry of Mehtaab Khan and moved forward to acquire her chair.

"Good morning,Sir!"he beamed at her when she passed a firm smile with a nod and held her hand out to ask him for the seat.

"Thank you!"he forwarded the file he had in his hand to her whilst curiousity rushed in her veins.

"What about the proceedings of the ATM robbery case?"she looked into the file seeing the details of the amount of money stolen and the statements mentioned by the nearby shopkeepers along with the snaps of the CCTV footage installed by it. "Oh yeah...DCP sir informed that the team is successful in capturing one of the robbers."she chimed with a ghost of smile tugging at the edge of her lips, which blew a little wider when she saw Mehtaab Khan nodding to her.

"Congratulations!"she beamed and kept the file on her desk as she further continued "But don't get too deviated by this success there's a lot more to look forward to."

"Khan, I cannot trust anyone else with this task but you."she forwarded the piled up files to him as he seemingly watched in horror yet he shook his head in agreement," These chargedsheets are to be submitted in court by twenty seventh of this month so...you know, you have to pickup the pace while I and Patel look forward to Vivaan's case. And after these files, you can join us."her command felt plummy to him.

"Sir, I assure you to manage with this but there's something more I want to discuss to you about the ATM robbery case."seeing her nod he continued "Bauwa Singh, the robber we captured has totally refused to give his testimony against the other two of his mates or even reveal their names. We require you to conduct his testimony and if this opportunity failed somehow, we might have to give him a third degree."

"Well, you can definitely proceed for a third degree but before that I would want to take up his testimony."she declared after rounds of deep thinking.

"Sir... Kamble need to get that permission letter signed up for the agreement of IMEI code tracing."Mehtaab forwarded hesitantly.

"Well,he took the permission before he traced the cellphone; didn't he? I have signed it myself."Adhya pretended to be inquisitive,as the smirk played on her lips masking the fact about the permission not taken before tracing the cellphone and hearing so Mehtaab smiled in response wittingly playing along.

"Oh...yes! Sorry sir,I forgot."

"Now,I would request for your leave."he stood on his spot for salutation and took the pile of files with him.

"Sir,Mr.Nivaan Basu,ACP New Mumbai headquarters, has come to meet you. Shall I send him in now?"asked the constable standing at the threshold of her cabin the very moment Mehtaab Khan left.
Her prow scrunched up with her questioning gaze as she couldn't find a reason to his surprise visit,it took her minutes to compose herself to permit.

Few minutes later, another primly dressed man in his crisp white shirt paired with jet black trousers and a tanned leather jacket, knocked on her cabin door when she granted him entry. Nodding to each other they silently greeted; standing on her spot Adhya acknowledged his presence when Nivaan forward his palm for a formal or rather introductory handshake as she complied with it courteously.

"Nivaan Basu, ACP New Mumbai headquarters;CRIME BRANCH."

Chapter 5
Crossed Cases'

"Mrs.Sharma, firstly,I am here to inform you about one confidential case related to Vivaan Kapoor's case."her eyes dilated for a second before she attained the control,he wetted his tanned lips with one twirl of his tongue."I hope you would have been in the knowledge of the news circulated, since the morning. And you might be curious about why it doesn't include your name into it."he leaned forward with his fingers knotted in a criss-cross,a smirk gelling his lips with an unusual uncertainty dancing in Adhya's eye. She quite felt her voice lost with the disarming pulse he had on her.

He is intimidating!

But besides the stroke of his body language Nivaan Basu came with; what drew her consciousness was her ignorance for the news headlines.
But she won't let her confidence give in so artlessly , "Sorry sir! I don't know which news you are talking about. I couldn't catch up with it due to the late night errands and some personal reasons. Do you mind to state it clearly?"her vocals mechanically sweet,a calm and premeditated prudence was barefaced as she talked.

His scrunched nose and grin tugging the ends of his lips were prominent enough for Adhya to sigh a breathe, though mentally.

"Well, the news about Vivaan Kapoor's death is out and DIG of Mumbai Suburban confirmed it too but on further discussion on the case, the crime branch and Suburban headquarters has considered to not reveal the name of the officer handling the case yet;which is why you are rid of your phone being on the ringing mode for hours next."his every move measured and distinguished ,his jaw clenched and eye brows wriggling.

"I know, you must be really happy about this case landing in your hand with so ease but it's not going to happen... until you prove yourself to be worthy of this."her sharp intake of breath and eyes narrowed in chagrin wordlessly challenged, on the other hand, Nivaan's face with grim. His black rimmed glasses till the bridge of his nose as he corrected it,with his forefinger, his eyebrows quirked into the moment and they flattened down the next.

"Two,you are going to assist me with the case while I lead you."Adhya's nail pierced her skin in rage, leaving the deep marks of the curvature in her palm while she tried her level best to not burst with the anguish. "I hope I am clear?"his stern vocals sent chills down spine. She nodded her head mechanically, "You can now release your fist. It has turned pale." Her face flushed in crimson,an anticipated tenor to wash his smirk off waited for the perfect opportunity.

"Please don't mind,I have a habit of clenching fist whenever I get too involved into something."she claimed with a smiling face, grabbing a pen from the penholder at her left, she tossed it in between her digits. He nodded with no contradiction, or rather pretended to. "Anyway, let me directly come to basics of the case."Nivaan initiated and as if on cue Adhya gently bobbed.

" Rukmini Chopra, Sanaya Chopra's mother and GLAMOUR PRODUCTION'S owner was found dead just two week before Vivaan's death."he breathed a deep sigh before continuing and for a minute her tossing dactyls paused," An accident, as portrayed but it was discovered to be a murder after forensic research."

She was shocked for a moment, there wasn't any news about HER death. She isn't much into the movies or bollywood but Rukmini Chopra is a brand in herself. Wantedly or unwantedly she would have come across the news anyhow if it's THE Rukmini Chopra to die.

"Where was her dead body found?"she asked in a guttural voice, numerous of thoughts circulating at the back of her mind, and none of them were peacemaking with the other.

" Curious...I like your enthusiasm."he complimented but the very second his professional guards were on, he leaned forward with his palms still knotted " We found her inside her white Audi A4 ... I don't remember the number right now but would send you the details later."

"An Audi A4..."her thoughts had a breathy exclaimation. Unknowingly her index finger went in air only to rest at the bridge of her nose, with her eyes closed she traced the sharp feature till it's tip. "She was driving through NH-4, and we don't know it yet where she was heading to."he further added, and fished out his cellphone to rummage through some information that he felt he might be lacking.

"See... here's the picture."his voice flat as he forwarded his cellphone to her displaying a horrifying accident unfolding; of a pearl white car that ran into the electrical pole. The bumper had badly crashed and the front tyre laid pivoted and top of that the glass shattered into miniscule fragments. All in all, it was a tedious task to get hold of shiver that flew down the spine or for the goosebumps to not erect.

"That's... terrifying!"Adhya mumbled under her breath, her chest plummeted with every breath she released, every ounce of it felt heavier than last.

"Vivaan's death has a really weird side of it...he was found DEAD in a secluded area...at the night when he was actually throwing his wedding reception. And worst of all, he don't even have a scratch."she still wasn't out of the mirage of the car, undesirably the direful picture has made a deep way into her brain. Though she tried to say something, but she felt like a fish with her lips parting and closed the next second. He waited for her to say while he retracted his hand.

"Although there's no trace of postmartum reports yet the events highlight it to be a murder case more than some-"he was cut off with the inquisitive query Adhya threw...and he was prepped up for it.

He knew anyone who's going to deal with this case won't be a fool. But Nivaan knew how to wrap people around his finger without even the drop off his hat.

"Rukmini Chopra was a BRAND. How come her death instilled in dark? With just no news about her absence in Vivaan Kapoor and Sanaya Chopra's wedding?"it felt like she murmured to herself more than him, cross checking the words she spoke out or were they contradictory?

" Vivaan Kapoor had a great influence and you know how neat our department is. He filled their mouths with the morsels of bucks and that's what drove the case into crime branch instead of first level investigation by the police department itself."he picked up the glass placed on the desk, and quenched his parched throat. She simply digested the piece of information and shut her thoughts temporarily to be attentive to the details more than jumping to conclusions.

"I guess you don't follow the news at all or the bollywood ...is just an exception." a subtle smirk dangling over his lips compelled her lenuga erect.

That was a cheek biting comment!

"I am not into the bollywood."grim masking the clatter of her jaws whilst she maintained her poise.

"Well, Rukmini Chopra's absence did brought many questions to Vivaan and Sanaya but they still haven't showed up for a press conference and then Vivaan died. Their wedding was a private affair with just his lawyer as the guarantee and the marriage registrar."he ardently answered, their eyes piercing either's.

"I have come across the news of Vivaan and Sanaya's wedding to held in the month of November but then why it is postponed?"yet again her forefinger went in air to trace down the bridge of her nose. It was evident now that it is one of her traits whenever she is into deep thoughts.

"Nice catch!"he beamed and then squirmed at his place uncomfortably.

"Initially I had a view of Vivaan and Sanaya after her murder with the way they preponed the wedding. There might be a 'NO' from Rukmini for them tying into the knot and on valid grounds to interrogate I did took up the chance."his eyes zoomed to something behind her but it was prominent how his thoughts trailed to something even beyond.

' Flashback '

Vivaan moves into the living area where the cops , Nivaan and Abhay were seated and greeted them with his ever so zealous smile that attracted their suspicion more.

" Good afternoon officers" he spoke glancing on the clock that hanged on the wall of the stanza while the two nodded for agreement not reflecting a friendly aura from their behaviour.

" Mr. Kapoor we are here to enquire few things from Mrs.Kapoor , Can you please call her?" Nivaan spoke in his gentleman vox while Abhay was successful to maintain the firm face not exhibiting any sort of suspicion, just a mere enquiry for the onlookers.

" Officers, it would be tough for her as she is already tired of the events from the last few days."his eyes darted into Nivaan's as a challenging gaze passed through him, Abhay was oblivious to the gestures.

"It would be nice of you if you spare her from all such interrogation for few more days and let her have some peace." Vivaan expressed in polite. A firm flat tugged his lips with his husky vocals resonanting.

" Oh, no worries Mr.Kapoor, there were few questions for you too . You can answer them now and we can wait for Mrs.Sanaya ... for an hour or so. " Abhay spoke of with the rigidness in his gamut stating there firmness on the interrogation process. Vivaan was sceptical about the consequences but gave in as he knew a step further for the favour would be fatal too and he agreed readily.

" Sure!"saying so he smiled faintly as the two officers were all set to burn his insides with their hurls. Abhay was ready with his notepad to pen down each and every statement with utmost keen observation and Nivaan proceeded to interrogate.

" What was the reason that you two married all so sudden...I mean it was yesterday itself when Mrs. Chopra's body was cremated and you married on the day too?And according to my information you were supposed to get married in the month of November. "Nivaan's wits shut the daylight out of Vivaan, the sharp intake of his breath was prominently audible when the cops turned to eye each other silently as if sharing something unsaid that the other understood well.

"My wife is the only daughter of her parents, she was just a kid when her father passed away."his eyes glossy and sprouting in red, "All she had in the name of her family was her mother and me. And now when Mom is no more she has started to distance herself from me. She has started to have panic attacks amidst the night. Her doctor prescribed her some anti-depressants but how long could she function on them?"he choked, and gobble down the lump at the interjacent of his larynx.

"She...she isn't well to answer you right now. She needs time to get used to her loss. With each night her condition detoriated...her panic attacks has increased eventually since the last three days. She was drowning deeper into something...where it would be tough to pull her out from. We had to do this...to give her a reason to understand how universe works. And she should move on in her new life."undesirably a lone tear slid down his cheeks, his eyelashes touching the base of his waterline.

"It would be considerate of you to share the details about her medical conditions and panic attacks. So that we can conduct an interrogation under the observation of psychologist."Nivaan stated firmly and Abhay continued to jot down every word of them like a sonnet.

Vivaan parted his lips to express a contradiction but was silenced by Nivaan's words" Don't worry,we wouldn't be harsh about it but her statement is important for being the immediate family member...I will take off the issues further but this is mandatory."

'Flashback'

"Ermm...Nivaan Sir!"Adhya's silvery voice brought him back to senses. A sharp look of triumph washed on his face, edge of his lips now seem defined in a curve and with the dimple he graced on his left cheek. It was just another moment he fluttered his lashes in a squeeze and all of those faint emotions that swam were gone. Instead they were replaced by a glimpse of contortion.

"Sir, What if it's Sanaya who killed them both and played a victim? She--"her brows knitted as he cut off with tauty vocals "I am not omniscient to know everything prior. I was able to answer your previous questions because they were worth of and my team did had a research about it. We can not assume things until we have valid reasons."

"I guess, we should bring this meet to an end."he stood up on his spot, following the same suit Adhya too stood up. "I would email you the details about the case and most importantly the postmartum reports. For any further enquiry, regarding the paperwork you can contact me on my CUG mobile number."he concluded his speech.

"Sir, the email..."Adhya spoke tremulously.

" 91Aadhya_S7@gmail.com"

An 'O' popped out her pouty lips, then the reality struck. Her jowl flushed in embarrassment and to contrary he had a gentleman's smile with his canines on display;besides the smirk he had flaunted throughout the fifteen minutes.

This time it held some warmth in itself, like a friendly support that she didn't wish to rub off.
