Prachi Desai gets candid with Chhaya Toshniwal on her role in Rock On and why she cannot metamorphose into a glam doll
The renowned sweet-looking bahu, Prachi Desai, of Kasamh Se will soon be seen in a new avatar on the big screen. Prachi has just finished shooting for her debut film, Rock On, which is slated for release on August 29. So, if you don't see much of her on the television except for the regular advertisements, you know what she has been up to.
She has also bagged Abbas Mastan's Life Partner opposite Tushhar Kapoor and the film will go on floors some time soon.
For the time being though, this young chirpy teenager is happy to play a character that is her age. Unlike the saree-clad Bani in Kasamh Se, Prachi will be seen in short skirts, jeans and tees in Rock On. There's a lot to watch out for in this flick because Prachi is sure to make pop out eyeballs when people watch her in "sophisticated" western ensembles.
Prachi admits however that the move from television to movies was not a cakewalk. Playing the modern girl in the movie needed a conscious effort on her part. "I have been playing the character Bani in Kasamh Se for two years now. It had become a routine. Hence, to play a modern character was a little difficult," she says.
Prachi confesses that she has her own reservations as far as dressing is concerned. "I can't be a glam doll or even a hottie," says the shy lass.
While Prachi goes ga ga over her co-star Farhan Akhtar (a debut actor himself) and how good he is as an actor, she states, "Though the shooting was amazing, the best part about the shoot of the movie was that the director-turned-actor Farhan and the actor-turned-director Abhishek Kapoor didn't interfere in each other's work." Prachi plays Farhan's love interest in Rock On. Farhan himself plays a member of the four-member rock band. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli and Luke Kenny.
This young lass has learnt the tricks of the trade very early in life. When asked about people in Jhalak Dikhla Ja being miffed with her, she says, "I choose to ignore what they talk about me. I've worked really hard to come to this level and I want to continue working hard. People will continue talking."
