Second Chance Pt 3

'Di stop fretting. The boys will be ok with Ranveer. Waisa it will be good for Ranveer, babysitting. Will come in handy when our times come." Rano frowned at her sister, who kept taking her cell phone out and seeing if there were messages. Rano wanted to shop for her wedding outfits and other dresses for her upcoming wedding and asked Bani to accompany her. Bani had said no at first, saying they couldn't go shopping tagging two young boys along with them. That was when Rano suggested, Ranveer will take of them since he loved goofing around with the boys. So on Saturday morning, Ranveer collected the boys and dropped Rano off at Bani. Dhir and Neel were happy to go off with their masu, promising to behave themselves and Ranveer promising to call Bani if there was trouble.
Rano had made appointments at couple of boutique and at least there task was made easier as they got personal attention from one of the shop assistant in a private room. The girl had already hung up few outfits in several shades for Rano to browse through. Trying on the outfits, complete with matching jewellery took time. With her height and thin built moreless anything that she tried on looked good. Opting not to wear the traditional red, Rano loved outfits in a the bright pink, blue and yellow shades. She picked out couple of outfits to be put aside for her. At the second boutique she foung an outfit she fell in love with. It was already four o'clock by the time Rano finalized her dresses and got fitted for them. A quick stop at a cafe for a bite to eat and then hitting the mall for more shopping.
Ranveer looked at the two boys sitting looking bored at the TV. He had taken them to see a movie and then for pizza lunch before coming home. They seemed happy to watch TV for a while but for the last hour they fidgeted and kept asking him when they would be going home. A quick call to Rano had revealed she was not planning to come home soon. Ranveer groaned, trying to think what else they he could do to entertain them. It was just then his cell rang, he looked at caller ID, JW and brighten up, may be mamaji can give him some idea. "Hi mamaji."
"Ranveer what are you doing tonight? Want to go to a club?" Jai asked.
Ranveer snickered, "Sorrry mamaji, I am babysitting. Rano has gone shopping with Bani and I am trying to entertain two young kids."
"Dhir and Neel! What did you guys do?"
"Nothing much, movie and lunch. Was hoping the mom would be back by now but Rano has no idea when they will be done. I am scratching my head what to do with them. They are getting restless." Ranveer moaned.
Jai chuckled, "At least you are getting to know what it is like to having kids around. Good practice when you have your own brats."
"Mamaji! I am not having kids for a long time. Pehle thodi life enjoy karni hai."
Jai taking pity on him suggested, "Why don't you come over. Last time they were here, they enjoyed the pool. We can get Tony to fix us some food too."
"Great idea mamaji. I am bored too, sitting here watching them. See you in half an hour."
Dhir and Neel jumped to the idea of going swimming, especially at the pool in Walia house. In few minutes they were in strapped up in Ranveer's car and driving off. Ranveer grinned at the change in the boys who were now happily chattering away, amazed at how something simple as playing the pool had the boys so excited.
When Rano finally gave up on shopping, she called Ranveer to come and pick them up and only up to told why don't they take a taxi and come to Walia mansion as they were there and in the pool. Bani moaned at having to go all the way out there. She was tired and she wanted to do was get home tuck the boys in bed and then relax.
When they reached WM, Tony told them Jai, Ranveer and boys were on the back patio. Rano dropped her bags in a corner and led Bani towards the patio. They found Ranveer lounging with a beer, "Hi Di." And puckering his lips at Rano, "Hi honey. Done all your shopping?" Rano laughed, "Well I got my dress and few other stuff, but I still have a lot more to do." Then sitting on the arm of his chair and putting her arms around him, "Next time you can come with me. I need someone to cart all the bags around, poor Di, I think she is ready to put her feet up."
Bani not seeing the boys, "Where are the boys Ranveer?"
"Oh, they are around the side helping mamaji with watering."
Bani went around the corner and saw Neel spraying water on the plants and Dheer with Jai crouching over a plant. "Neel!" Bani called out. Neel turned around swinging the hose around and spraying Bani with cold water. Neel shrieked and dropped the hose on the ground and the water kept spraying up at Bani. Jai turned and saw Neel looking helplessly at Bani and rushed over and turned the hose off. He looked at Bani stood dripping water and Neel looking scared.
Jai ran towards the pool and came back with couple of towels and dumped them in Bani's hands. Jai afraid she would be mad at Neel said, "I think it was genuine error. Hope you are not mad at him, he is just a kid." Bani just glared at him and stormed off with the towels. A few minutes later Jai returned to with Neel and Dhir to find Bani had wiped the water and was sitting with a dry towel around her, shivering. Neel ran up to her and wrapped his arms around her, tears rolling down, "Mama I am sorry. I didn't want to spray water on you." Bani hugged him, "Hush Neel. Its ok, I am not mad see, look at me."
Bani pushed Neel back and wiped his tears and smiled, "See I am not mad. Now stop crying. Are you ready to go home?" Neel nodded his head and grasped her hand, "I wanna go home and sleep."
Bani stood up and looked at Ranveer first and then at Jai, "Thanks for looking after boys. I am sure they had fun." Taking off the towel Bani dropped it on the chair and walked into the house followed by Rano, Jai and Ranveer. She picked up her bag and hugged Rano. "Good night Rano. Drop by tomorrow."
Jai picked up his car keys, "I will drop you home, I am sure Rano wants to get home too, Ranveer you take Rano home." Bani gripping her bag a little too tightly said irately, "Mr Walia, I can take a taxi. You don't have to trouble yourself." Jai glared at her, "It's no trouble Bani. I don't want you standing out on t he street with wet clothes. The quicker you get home, the quicker you can change out of your wet clothes."
By the time they reached her apartment, Neel had fallen asleep and Dhir almost nodding off. Jai carried Neel up to the apartment and into the bedroom. He waited till Bani had tucked the boys in. When she came out Bani looked at him stiffly, "Thanks Mr Walia. If you don't mind leaving now, I am really tired and in no mood for company."
"Bani I think you have forgotten how to fun. Not once did you laugh the incidence off. It was mistake by Neel, yet you didn't shout at him or laugh it off. Good night."
Jai walked out leaving Bani staring at his retreating back.
