Tulsi aka Smriti Irani, the revered bahu of Kyunki will be exiting the show soon. Her character will be replaced by Gautami by end of this month or early next month. However, it's still not clear how her track is going to end.
On how Smriti's exit will affect the show she says, "Tulsi is the pillar of the show but every serial runs on the content and story. Further, Gautami is replacing her. We'll discuss about her entry in next meeting."
We also asked her how Ekta Kapoor reacted to this latest development. "Whenever we have meeting with Ekta, the larger inputs are always from her. She is very attached to Kyunki as this is her first show (Kyunki started on April 7, 2000 ). Till today, she reads the script every day and sometimes even suggests changes. Ekta is very experienced and never gets upset. She is always focussed on the issues on hand. Even while discussing about Smriti's exit, she never seemed too perturbed. We have given some ideas to her about Tulsi's track but nothing has been finalised yet."
"Right now I'm scripting the part of how her foster daughter Krishnatulsi (Mouni Roy) and bahus (daughter-in-laws) will slowly turn against her," adds Mrinal.
On the other hand, Dilip Rawal, the dialogue writer of the show, feels it would be very difficult to replace Smriti. "I have just written some dialogues for Smriti's role and till today no one has asked me to stop writing dialogues for Tulsi's role."
So will Tulsi die and make a comeback with a new face (Gautami) or will she undergo a plastic surgery? Kyunki… Anything is possible.
