Nina,

I guess it would be from the Sanskrit "Vani" meaning sound or speech, and Saraswati is the goddess of speech in Hinduism.

Even i dont know telugu but one of my friend said. if their is no word called pia in telugu what they call for shit???? answer not required but i was just curious to know who is right and who is wrong.
