Of late, Sumit Sachdev aka Gautam in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi, has developed a keen interest in filmmaking. The actor has shot a 45-minute short film, in different parts of Delhi and Mumbai. Tentatively titled Rehman Saheb Ko Phone Karna Hai, the actor has doubled up as the scriptwriter as well. Sumit is now aiming at screening the film at various film festivals in India and abroad.
Says Sumit, "Last year, during one of my visits to Delhi, I lost my cellphone. Cut off from my relatives and friends, I actually enjoyed the loneliness. And that's when I got this idea of scripting a film. I put together my thoughts and started penning the story. The film will definitely have an autobiographical touch to it. I have shot the film with a DV camera in natural light, an equipment that I have borrowed from a friend."
So far the journey has been exciting for Sumit. "I have a few good friends who have worked for me in the film," adds Sumit, who is currently shooting in Dubai for Ekta's new show Khwaish (for a Dubai-based channel).
Talking about his film, Sumit says, "Well, I penned the script last year and then Karam Apna Apna happened. In January, I did a mock shoot in Delhi but my work pressure didn't allow me to continue with the filmmaking. Now, I have decided to shoot the remaining portion. I also want to wait and watch the outcome at the edit table."
Also if all goes well Sumit, who is an architect by profession, will set up his own company along with his friend in Delhi. |
