I really don't make posts in the forum but today I had to, had to make this post because the shit has hit the fan.
First of all, this is not a Niti appreciation/Parth bashing/ Parth returning etc. kinda post so if you're looking for something like that, please refrain from commenting.

This post is about Nandini Murthy, our female protagonist.

I've been observing her since season 1. In the first episode, CVs portrayed her as an innocent girl who believed in true love & fireflies, someone who cared for her family, someone who trusted everybody but at the same time she was strong enough to take a stand, strong enough to deal with her problems.
Suddenly something changed, she started getting attracted to Manik & fell in love with him. She was no more a career driven person, all she did was think, talk & roam around/with Manik, she needed him for everything, she cried for everything.

What kind of character butchering is that?

Next came the Pandit episode which should have taught her a lesson that in the real world, you can't trust everyone, that everyone is not as nice as you think they are but as usual, Nandini murthy learnt nothing but cried buckets after the incident( yeah sure) She trusted Aryamann & now trusts Madhyam. Great job guys! *applause*

Now in season 2, she has some weird equation with Maddy, he looks so disinterested still she keeps clinging to him, I mean what the hell is that? Why does she always need a guy in her life to deal with her problems? Just because she's a girl, it doesn't make her incapable of handling her problems. She doesn't have to cry for every little thing in life. She doesn't need to have a Manik or an Aryamann or a Maddy to solve her issues. She doesn't have go be a scapegoat for every trick played by her 'friends' or by Maddy/nyonika/Harshad.

CVs, if you've ever seen the aforementioned qualities in a girl who belongs to 21st century & owns a brain then I'm sorry to say, you're seeing it wrong. Please clear your misconceptions as soon as possible.

I'd like to add another thing from today's episode which said a lot about Nandini-

Maddy said that if she became the President of India, she might just sell the country to save her brother.

Damn right! She can do that. That's what she's been doing. Making deals on a professional level to solve her personal problems. I mean what the hell, Nandini?

Last but not the least, grow up writers. The damsel in distress stories cannot be sold anymore, it's time you show us a strong headed, intelligent & smart woman dealing with her problems fearlessly.

Thank you.

Karishma has a tendancy of butchering one character to make space for another... She did.the same in sadda haq.when a character named parth entered who was the 2nd lead of the show shq cvs butchered randhir who is thr male lead of the show to a very extreme level...
Am all in for s2... Most of the people watching s2 are watching it for niti... If they go on a ruin her character itself they can only blame themselfs if the show goes down... Nandini would never cheat anyone for her own good...

No one could have said it better! This has gone too far! Nandini needs to get her senses back and amke her own mark in the freaking real world! Crying has gone too far and the CVs are bound to kill her character just for the sake of showing the guys to be stronger than her. Male-dominated society can only change when your effing mindset will change!😡

Agree with almost everything.
I don't necessarily care for Nandini's career aspirations because they were never meant to be explored pre or post Manik. She was confused and given that no character on this show ever focused on it , I ignored it. But yes, they never could clearly define why of her musical connect . Also considering this show never focused on the professional aspirations and it didn't interfere with the basic premise. I let it go. So yes for me how she was written off in that love story mattered.
The show started with fireflies and her talking of her love and him of a star. Premise established. Love story.

We never really saw her deal with her problems on her own, because they were always connected with Manik and his with her.

Arya - Nandini, the central character was used to sell that contriving character at her expense whatever she stood for . This let the series down, MaNan and everything. Just to give her a forced tangible they made her a scapegoat.

But nothing explains the bizarre trust/friendship she seem to have with him right now or this games she be playing with the new guy. Nope, we gave her elections- not for her own self but for some stupid Manik related reason but she must now again use her professional position to trade off for something personal. Heck, why is she after Maddy for the music tune, why cannot she contact another musician, doctor - show me atleast the desperation struggle to convince me that she was left with no door but to sell her post.

It's innate concept respecting the FL on-screen.But it's so silly to see them so openly compromising her to sell every tom , dick and harry. Her story must have man.Because freshness.

I know nothing about SHQ & would refrain from commenting on that.

My problem is not with Karishma or Richa, both of them are equally responsible for butchering Nandini. I never liked the fact that Nandini did nothing except thinking about Manik & his needs in season1. Now in season2, she is still doing that & clinging on to Maddy too. Why, is what I ask.

Thanks for commenting :)

Agree with everything you said. And the fact that she is fighting the elections for Manik makes no sense to me, I really wanted them to show Nandini as someone living her life by her own rules, living for herself for once & not caring about every damn guy who walks into her life & falls in love with her. I was expecting that from season2 but...sigh.

@Bold- I have to disagree with that. Nandini's character had so much potential, they had to explore her career aspirations because that's what they tried to show in the initial episodes. Her interest in science was never addressed properly, nor her interest in music was addressed. She wanted to take off the burden of her studies from her family's shoulder, well then they must show her doing SOMETHING about it. She just goes to college, hangs around & comes back. What is her goal in life? She has long lectures ready for others, well what about her, what is she doing in life! Nothing, I say.

Thanks for commenting :)

Great post👏👏
This has always been an issue on indian TV...the girl is always used for a romantic angle and to be butchered to glorify other characters...and it hurts to see your fav been reduced to a puppet at the hands of other characters...has always happened at will continue in the future...dark truth of this industry.....

the only characters who got the real world call are Cabir in Season 1 and Navya is Season 2 ... because both these characters had to fend for themselves to survive... baki sab have enough money at thr dispoal so they just don't care...

Today for a tinny minny moment I felt for Navya when she is shown feeling bad leaving her kid to earn a leaving ... but then I m sure tomorrow she will go back to her YOOO Navya thing and I will once again get disconnected with her...😕

This!!

All the characters including Nandu weren't pushed against the world to experience real world They had no tragedy or that experience but Navya and Cabir did. Where Cabir because of his arc had to move out , fend for himself. Navya was reduced to piggy-back and now somewhat in S2 she has to earn her living. Even then, it's more of a necessity .

S1- was a love story, for me Nandu was special in how she vocalized and handled her love arc. Their conversations, her desires and how she had some control of their thing.

S2 should have been her story because that cruel thing happened, her love was ripped apart, she should have focused on herself, her brother and her fight for justice , whatever. But nah, lets play her off.

These days Dhruv makes sense.
