MaNan FF- Nandini's lifeline( ch17- pg61)

Hello Loves,
So I know that I haven't completed my previous ss but I was dying to write this story and couldn't wait for that one to complete, I shall simultaneously complete that one too but this one is gonna be the bomb. Please read it and let me know your views.

Character sketch

Nandini-
She is an 18 year old girl who lives with her elder brother Cabir. She is a classical music student who prefers the veena. Her mother has a job which includes travelling so they meet only once a month or so. Nandini has a secret with her brother's best friend Manik that she would never dare tell him.</font>

Cabir-
He is a 20 year old drummer, member of his college band (fab5) with his closest
friends. Nandini's protective elder brother. Only shows his
vulnerability to his best friend Manik Malhotra who is also their next door
neighbour. Very flirtatious but never lets any guy near his sister. </font>

Manik-

Cabir's best friend since childhood,Nandini's secret lover but hasn't told her because cabir is very protective of her. He is also their neighbour. Lead singer and guitarist of his college band fab5. Big time player and flirt, he has a new girl every week. Shares a secret with Nandini which he'd never dare to tell Cabir.

I haven't mentioned the other characters since
they are not the main ones and pretty much are the same as the show.

Due to certain past events which are eventually explained, Cabir is very protective
about his younger sister Nandini who he assumes to be a fragile one and only
trusts Manik in his tough times whereas Nandini has a small secret of her own
with Manik, who she thinks has two sides-one the daytime jerk Manik who flirts
with every other girl he lays his eyes on and the other side being the sweetest
guy ever who he reveals only at night. Personally, she prefers the night time
Manik.

Part 1-

Nandini woke up to the familiar sensation of being crushed under a heavy body. An arm draped around her waist and a leg slung casually over both hers.Struggling, she turned around and whispered, "Manik, wake up. You have to leave before bhai see you here."
"Shush. Let me sleep Nandu." His sleepy husky voice said. Still asleep he rolled further over her, holding both her hands above her head. Had it been any other girl, she would have even given up her life for another sentence in that voice or such actions but she was used to it. More than used to it, She was annoyed by it. The six foot guy next to her suddenly seemed to weigh even more than he was and it was starting to really get on Nandini's nerves. She couldn't even free herself.
"No, you can't sleep anymore. Go away. It's almost time for bhai to wake up." She whispered back urgently and glanced at the wall clock which showed the time 7:00.
Finally he was a bit awake so making good of the opportunity Nandini pushed him off herself which caused him to fall from her queen size bed.
*thud*
Oh god! That would surely wake bhai up if his voice doesn't.
"What the hell!" He exclaimed from the floor squinting and looking at her.
"Manik, you would be happy getting caught in here but in no way am I enthusiastic about bhai seeing you here." She said getting off her bed and opening the window of her ground floor room. Gesturing towards the open window she whispered, "Goodbye Mr. Malhotra. See you in an hour."
"Whatever, I know your nights are restless without me." He said winking at her obviously aware of the fact that what he said was one hundred percent true.
Once he left Nandini got dressed and was tuning her veena when there was a knock on her door.
"I am hungry. Give me food before I die." Cabir's over dramatic voice said.
"Yes bhai, just give me a minute, your food will be served."
Cabir was two years elder to Nandini and the two of them used to be pretty much the only inhabitants of the house since their mother had gotten a job which paid well enough for Cabir to throw secret parties every weekend. Unlike him, Nandini was the quieter sibling who preferred to either read or practice her Veena. Their mother would come home every once in a month but they would talk daily to her through skype or phone calls. Love was never lost between the three.
It took Nandini hardly 10 minutes to cook scrambled eggs and toast a few slices of bread, once served she called Cabir.
"ThAnks for the lovely breakfast Nandini." Said someone from behind.
She groaned knowing the person very well who the voice belonged to.
"Jerk. That's not your food. You have a house and a kitchen and a cook also. Eat at your on place." She said snatching away the plate from him and handing it to her brother who had just entered the dining room who again to her annoyance handed the plate back to Manik.
"What the hell bhai!"
"Shush. It's alright! He's my best friend and I don't mind."
"Well I do."
Manik had been Cabir's best friend for almost 11 years now, the two were inseparable which was also the reason that Manik and Nandini preferred not to tell their tiny little secret to him. He was protective of her and at times went a little overboard too.
In the nights Manik would sneak in though Nandini's bedroom window which was exactly a hundred yards away from his bedroom window and would leave the next morning before anyone would notice. They had been caught almost a few times by manik's mom but he'd always give reasons like late night parties and his mom would buy it. It was expected of Manik to stay out all night for parties. That was the kind of guy he was.
Yet, there had not been a single night in the past 8 years when the two hadn't slept together and they only slept together, cuddling. Nothing more. Even when they'd have fights and she would throw things at him she would always leave the window unlocked and around midnight he would just come, spoon her from the back and they'd sleep peacefully. Neither could get a good night's rest without the other. It was just the way they'd gotten used to.
"How can you have such a jerk for a best friend bhai?"
"Because he himself is a jerk Nandini." Manik replied
well, that was true. Manik and Cabir were in the same college as Nandini and were as Nandini would say 'popular asses' since their band fab5 was pretty much the eye candy for every single student. And Nandini, she was on the classical side of music, where Cabir had failed in love with the drums, Nandini had accepted the Veena as her own.

She didn't argue further with either of them but silently ate her own oatmeal throwing angry glares at Manik when Cabir wasn't seeing. At exactly 8:30, following the routine they got in Manik's car and left for college. Nandini would usually just plug in her earphones because the two guys sitting in front of her would always keep discussing the girls they apparently found hot. To her disgust, those were the same girls Nandini thought of donating clothes too considering they were hardly ever covered.

A few times she caught Manik looking at her in the rare-view mirror and she showed him her tongue. He'd always wink. God! He's so annoying! Nandini thought.

Loved the concept and yes the first update was so sweet yet a bit funny.. Continue soon :)
