@Genie: I forgot to add, his 'give and take' attitude had convinced him that whatever adverse consequences came out of his impulsiveness were okay, they were merely the price he had to pay for his impulsiveness..

Like when he went for that 'sacrifice' crap, he knew he would be hurting Nandu as a result of that, but he accepted that as collateral damage in making his grand scheme a success.

Now that he has to rectify all the damage he has done, he is slowly realizing how impossible it is to undo some things.. and that sometimes there is no going back and simply 'fixing' things.. he can't just give an apology and take forgiveness in return.. her words that 'its not always give and take' gave him perspective but it is living the actual reality of it in the pain in her eyes and the distance from her, that is pushing him towards truly making a change or losing her..
