the promise to tomorrow.

I honestly was not going to make a post today but then I saw the episode again, in one go without any worry and I just had to make this post. I've always said that I watch KY2 for KY2. For what the show offers me as a whole in shapes of this ensemble of characters which are all so beautiful with all their complexities. And today's episode..it was a bloody treasure chest of moments.

Tomorrow. The word which is not unknown to us. The time which gives us hopes to live through today.


We've basically lived our lives with hopes and dreams of a tomorrow which will make everything better. We work towards that tomorrow, we strive for it, we wish for it. That hope for tomorrow just doesn't go. Life loses its meaning when that tomorrow is gone. We don't know what tomorrow is going to bring us but we go through today with the hope of that tomorrow is going to fulfill an unsaid promise to us. In an ideal world, we'd do everything today itself. But it's the real world. Apart from a few some, we all live in that tomorrow which is so darn unknown.

I loved how everyone's version of a tomorrow was so different. Every single one of them delayed today and left it till tomorrow. Cabir asked Nandini to use his secret against him today, but she refused, making the plan that Harshad has planned for tomorrow even stronger. Mukti forsake her safety for today for a tomorrow where she'd make sure Fab5 wins. Navya realized the issues between her and Harshad today but she left the confrontation to tomorrow. Dhruv and Alya got what they were working for, the moment where they'd both get what they wish for. But not today...tomorrow. Nandini promised Manik to give words and a name to what she feels for him...but tomorrow. And Harshad? He awaits tomorrow to be the day he has worked to get for all this time.

Their version of tomorrow. In their heads, they've all made the perfect plans for tomorrow. In all this they forgot that you just don't make promises to a time which is forever in flux. What Time allows us to own is the present moment only, nothing else. It's a fact that we forget, it's a fact that they all forget. So humane of them, so real.

It makes me wonder, with so many different plans for a tomorrow that they are all going share, how will things turn out? Whose plan for tomorrow will the Universe approve of the most? Whose tomorrow will be supported by the Great Forces which rule us all?

But let's see what today was before tomorrow sweeps in and changes things, for better or for worse.

Today was Cabir shedding his skin of arrogant cockiness and growing up. Today was him thanking Nandini and giving her a chance to give it all back to him for all he has done to her. Today was him accepting. That some things are for the better, that some things aren't meant to be, that sometimes we have got to be strong and face the world...come what may.

Today was Dhruv gaining the courage he always lacked. To take control, to accept, to act. Today was him acknowledging that he is done living in the shadows and that he needs some light. Today was him stepping up, him being happy, him realizing that he deserves some happiness for his own regardless of his circumstances.

Today was Mukti facing Harshad by openly coming to the defense of a girl she really didn't give a damn about. Today she as done warning in hints and openly told Harshad to back off. Today was her offering herself, her destroyed, shattered self, to the person who's the reason behind it all just so someone else wouldn't face the same fate as her.

Today was Navya letting go of her dream glasses. Today was Navya realizing the reality she has spun for herself is not actually real. Today was her seeing that she's been looking at the reality via her dreams. Today was the reality she so blindly avoided making itself known to her.

Today was Harshad celebrating the moment he has been looking forward to for ages. Today was Harshad telling the world that he's done caring for anyone else but him. Today was him being cold towards the one person I thought can make him revert back to his humanity, the same person for whom I thought he had let go of it in the first place. Today was him being shown in control of tomorrow. Today was him being too lost in the haze.

Today was Manik finally asking. What is it that Nandini feels for him? What is it that she sees him for? Today was Nandini delaying but not avoiding. Today was her laughing at him, for him, due to him. Today was him smiling at life, his life, due to her. Today was a reality for them better than dreams. Today was impatience, today was acceptance, today was hesitation, today was anticipation. Today was him playing music with her thoughts in his head. Today was her blushing with his face in her mind. Today was her reaching out to him, today was him pulling her to him. Today was the day they've been moving towards. Today was the day she gave him the stars for. Today was the day he gave her the gift of his trust for.

Today was...

now it's over.

For everyone on KYY, today was preparation time for the inevitable tomorrow. Everyone is hurtling towards it, some look in control while the others are oblivious. There is no way to tell which way tomorrow will go but the best way to prepare is giving one's best today. In this regard, all of them have shown some growth, giving hope that they will be able to pick up these broken pieces and rebuild their lives.

Cabir- He grew up today. He let go of his arrogance faade and introduced Nandu to his warmer, perceptive side. He offered silent apologies for his misdeeds and has come to recognize and accept that life isn't always smooth sailing.

Mukti- She is damaged, vulnerable and possible the weakest link. She is a lost and shattered soul, yet she was ready to make a deal with the devil himself for another innocent soul. That's her manner of giving it all today. Her own destruction in lieu for another's life, how selfless is that?

Harshad- His careful planning and plotting to break Fab 5 is near fruition. This is growth too. It takes hell lot of focus to stay on track and not get derailed when everyone around is. But he is so blinded by his own revenge that the fruit of victory might not be sweet after all, with no one around to share it with.

Dhruv- He has started to step out of Fab 5's shadows to become his own person. He's garnered a certain degree of courage to actively seek out individuals. For someone who was always reticent, this is growth. Whatever tomorrow might hold, it will only make him stronger.

Alya- She has started to care selflessly for others. Always watching over and motivating. For someone who was in awe and hung up on only one person, this is growth. In many ways, she has already moved on, made peace with the fact that some things aren't meant to be. The imminent heartbreak that tomorrow promises to bring will only make her stronger.

Navya - The fog has slowly but surely started to clear. Her expressions gave it away. There are too many unanswered questions that she needs to find answers to. For someone who was on a one- track, one- way chant machine, this is growth. What does tomorrow hold for her, will the harsh and acerbic reality break or make her, remains to be seen.

Manik-Nandu- These two never cease to amaze. They have shown tremendous growth as individuals. They've come to accept their inevitable presence in each other's lives. They have been perceptive of their surroundings and have dealt with them well so far. For someone who hasn't trusted/ doesn't rely on anyone, to implicitly trust and seek out Nandu, this surely is growth in Manik. For someone who was scared and shy, this tenacity and courage is growth in Nandu. They give each other strength and hope to live and flourish. Tomorrow (not just the immediate but henceforth) will deal severe blows and it's this growth that will keep them afloat. Together, they shall overcome.

He better reads it. he must know.. how deeply we all analyse each and every character of his show.. How much we love their story telling and execution.
