For some time I wanted to make a post about these two and their underlining issue.
So far we know whatever happened was two years back. And it must have been big for Alya, Harshad own sister, to go against her own brother and stick with her Boyfriend.
In my part, I don't think Harshad is out and out evil/bad person. Otherwise he wouldn't have rescued Rishab from the pool nor dropped the girls home after Navya's hangover. I think whatever happened must have been a huge misunderstanding and everything went against Harshad (evident and all) because notice he doesn't even want to talk about it. Not only he lost Manik, he lost Dhruv as well, cuz clearly Dhruv chose to be with Manik.
