The first set begins with breakfast at the KS-Prithvi house, where KS is fretting and Prithvi is sipping his juice delicately. (No Josh-like food snarfing for our proper gentleman. :-) ) KS is stressing inside on how to tell Prithvi about AK's good deeds. When she tries to tell him, Prithvi butts in kindly to tell her that she should not be so worried; after all, she did a great job of escaping The Thug last night, and that she should eat well, so that if the situation should ever arise again, she will have the strength and energy to do it again!
Cut to: KS pacing in her bedroom, having a mental tussle with herself on AK vs. Prithvi. Prithvi: who has always been with her, through thick and thin, with a helping hand, never ditching. AK who ditched her but only because he was misled by others, and then gave his everything to make sure that she won all her successes in life. She wants to tell Prithvi all that AK did, but she wants to talk with AK first! But where and how does she find him? Josh!
Strangely enough, when she calls Josh, he is indifferent to allowing her to speak to AK! I mean, this was the guy who was desperate to get AK&KS together -- not permitting them to talk? She is trembling in her need to talk with AK, but Josh tells her that AK is OK :-) and under his care and it's not a good idea to talk to him just then. She says she has to, and asks if she gives him a message, Josh will deliver it? Yes is the simple answer.
So she sits down at her pretty desk, pulls a pretty pink pen and starts writing "Angad" in Hindi on her pretty pink edged paper and goes no further. It's no wonder because she flashes back to AK&KS on a boat in Goa and the location shooting of "their" song together. Very, very distracting. Irritated, she tries to refocus, looking around the room. Where her eyes fall on the demo tape and she gets the idea of sending a vocal message instead.
It could've been a silly scene, but it ended up getting rather cutely done. It starts with her primly speaking into the recorder about how mistakes happen especially when forces deliberately create misunderstandings. But KS was practically cuddling the recorder while she said that neither of them was completely at fault, and that she was very sorry. She is finished and resolute that no one else will handle the tape. But she is also teary.
Thus, when Prithvi walks into her room, she is washing up. When he finds out that she hasn't yet listened to the demo tape, he picks it up saying that he's off to work, and that she can listen to it later. And so it is that when KS walks out, looking for the tape, she is shocked to find that it is missing and even more shocked when she realises that it was Prithvi who has walked away with it!
She dashes after him. Prithvi's just driving off when KS comes running behind his car. She fails to catch up to him, or to catch his attention. (Don't KYPH characters look in the rear view mirror when they drive??!) But no matter! Enterprising KS leaps into a rickshaw and says "Follow that car, driver!" Thankfully this time around, the vehicles behaved as they should: The rickshaw never catches up with the car which meant that KS arrives at the recording studio quite behind Prithvi. He has reached the studio, popped the tape in and has started playing it, when he is surprised to see KS breathlessly run into the room too. Prithvi, smiling: what are you doing here? KS starts smiling back at him, relieved that nothing has happened yet, when suddenly the song on the tape changes to her voice speaking. Speaking out her understanding of what AK has done. Speaking of her being sorry. Speaking in that damning, longing tone.
There's no way to avoid it: no way that either of them can pretend that they didn't hear it; no way that Prithvi can ignore the longing; no way that KS can wish away the sincerity in her taped voice. Prithvi looks tremulous and KS looks very, very miserable.
And we cut to: KS' bedroom where both are looking miserable. Prithvi wants to know why she didn't tell him as soon as she found out about AK and all that he did to get them where they are. KS can't quite explain.
Then Prithvi delivers Shock #1: So, he says, you'd gone to talk to AK last night when you'd gone to Khanna House? KS goes through StunnedExpression#1: How does he know? In ImpeccableExplanation#1, Prithvi says that she'd left her cellphone in the car when she walked into the house, he'd called her and talked with the driver, which is how he knew where she was and traced her to where she could be to rescue her.
\(Good save, KYPH writers! BTW, ARE you reading the postings on this forum??!)
Then Prithvi walks across to KS and delivers Shock#2: by slowly removing the ring from her finger. KS goes through StunnedExpression#2: what is he doing? This is when Prithvi plunges all our dislike for his past actions into the dust with ImpeccableExplanation#2: KS' circumstances are different now from when she thought AK was bent on irritating and fighting and destroying her. It would not be fair to hold her to a commitment that was made under different circumstances; so he frees her from the engagement. He walks away, and she stands there astounded.
(She was more graceful with it than I was: I had my mouth wide open and gasping for breath at His Saintliness!)
Now she is thrown into a complete quandry about which of her two lovers she should choose. There follows a cute set of PrithviVs.Angad comparison flashbacks: Prithvi telling her that the concert were successful vs. Josh telling her that AK had spoilt his show so that she would get the audience; Prithvi telling her that if Josh came to her show, it would be wildly successful vs. Josh telling her that it was only on AK's say-so that he came for her show, and on and on.
The one that made an impression on me was Prithvi picking up KS (huffing-and-puffing and nearly dropping her!) from the road where she'd fallen, walking away from the disco where AK so horribly pushed her away Vs. AK picking up KS (most effortlessly and gracefully!) from within the Thug Gas chamber during her kidnapping. If KS had to choose between Prithvi or AK based on that memory, there would've been no competition at all! :-)
But the camera freezes on her Most Troubled face and the show ends.
Preview for the next episode: Daadi's smiling face asks where KS is to Prithvi on the other end saying that she had left a long time ago. Daadi replies saying that Prithvi should not be paranoid and that KS will be reaching any time now to Prithvi saying that given the Thug has not been captured, he is most uncomfortable with not knowing where KS is at every point in time.
(Ever since the last episode, I've begun to mistrust Daadi's smiling face. She looked most sinister in the preview today. :-(
So, I think that KYPH writers could be back -- either they were on an illegal holiday and are feeling shamefaced about having made the producers write the previous episode. Or they were seriously kidnapped, and the producers got desperate after having read our disgusted posts and decided to pay the ransom to get them back. In any case, the writers seem to be making amends by trying to explain at least some of the nonsense on the previous episode. Even if it required to resurrect St. Prithvi! I just don't get that guy! Does he have a long-term, evil, hidden agenda, or do we tend to think that about all saints that walk this earth?
It was grand to see the Goa-boat shots again. Gosh! They looked That Good!
Still, it was an AK-less episode. Not as much fun, not as many thrills, not as many heart-aches. I hadn't quite realised that there is an MIKhan-spark that made an episode tingle. And these tingles don't quite get delivered through flash-backs either, I'm afraid.)
