Ekta's fascination for real life names

Ekta Kapoor is not only in love with the letter 'K' but also likes giving real life names to her favourite on-screen characters. In Kasauti Zindagi Kay, Cezzane Khan's name Anurag Basu was borrowed from filmmaker Anurag Basu who directed Balaji's Koshish Ek Asha and was also involved in the making of Kuch To Hai. Nivedita Basu, a character again from Kasauti… was named after the deputy creative director of Balaji. Besides that, her famous numerologist friend Sunita Menon's name has been used in Balaji soaps many a times.

The forthcoming show Kayamath has its heroine Prachi Bora named Prachi Shah after the Balaji actress and danseuse who interestingly also plays the mother of the heroine in the serial. This practice is not limited to names but also extends to surnames. in Kahiin Kissi Roz the family shown was called the Sickand family, and Sickand happens to be the surname of none other than Sandeep Sickand, the former creative head of Balaji (currently heading Sony). Now whether this trend adopted by Ekta is a superstition to bring in luck or just a mere coincidence, is a big question mark. (Sampurn
