Parting shot: Iqbal Khan

Iqbal Khan became a household name as Angad of Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai. Ekta Kapoor's blue-eyed boy became a star overnight as his popularity soared. Even after the show ended, he got another plum role as Shiv in Balaji's Karam Apna Apna. But despite being launched and mentored by Balaji, the actor has finally decided to quit the production house on December 25, thus ending a three-year association.

There are several theories doing the rounds about his departure. It is alleged that the reason behind people quitting Balaji is because of the erratic work schedules there. Moreover, people have the option of working with Sandeep Sikcand instead.

When contacted, Iqbal confirmed the news. "I have decided to quit Balaji, but it's strictly because of personal reasons," he said.

Incidentally, Iqbal has been working round-the-clock for the last three years and now wants to take a break from his hectic work schedule. Marriage to fiancee Sneha is on the anvil and he needs to spend some time with her. "I have spoken to Jeetuji and Shobhaji and have explained my problem to them. They are okay with my decision," said Iqbal.

Iqbal Khan is, however, yet to talk to Ekta about his most recent decision. "I am sure she'll understand my problem, but I am not willing to discuss my problem with anyone else," he added.

Iqbal started his career with Funtoosh, which bombed at the box-office. Thereafter, Ekta Kapoor signed him as the lead actor in Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai which made him an overnight star. "I am grateful to Balaji for giving me meaty roles in their serials like Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai, Kavyanajali and Karam Apna Apna. But I have come to a stage in life

where I need to take a break," he says.

Allegedly, Iqbal had wanted to exit from the Balaji camp immediately after Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai. But Ekta offered him another show, Karam Apna Apna," says our source.

With Iqbal's departure, Ekta will not wind up the show, but intends to find an apt replacement for the actor.

Going by the actor's career graph, is it wise to quit Balaji? "I am not walking out with bad memories. I know that Balaji is like a family and if required we will work again in future," replied Iqbal.
