Ekta Kapoor is gradually inching towards partnership if not outright ownership in the TV channels.

Keeping her new strategy in mind she's partnering Star to create software in three regional languages in the South. Explains Ekta, "I've already got offices in the South in Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. We make original serials for South Indian channels with Southern actors shot in location in that part of the world, not remakes or rip-offs. The serial that became Ghar Ek Mandir in Hindi was our no.1 serial in the South. Our soaps for the South market are far more dramatic than their Hindi countepart. The locations are more rustic. And yes, I'm one of the leading producers on South Indian television."

Ekta's Balaji will now produce Southern serials for Star. "We at Balaji won't only be the content providers we'll also be also be co-owners. We'll have creative control over the quality of the shows. We do know what kind of content works in the South. So we've taken on the responsibility of providing the right kind of content on behalf of Star. In a couple of years we hope to create the same kind of partnership with the channels for our Hindi soaps also."

Apparently Balaji has paid $12 million for the right to this partnership. "Well, the amount is not off the mark," laughs Ekta.

she is behind taking over star or what ...and anyway like she needs it......the ppl at star only depepnd on her....they practically worship the ground on which she walks

True!!Practically 90% percent of the shows on Star are her's😡😡 Watch...when Balaji and Star have a fight,Star's TRPs will go dramatically down because all her shows will be on some other channel
