According to Star India's senior creative director Shailja Kejriwal, Kayamath is a modern love story in the days of malls and coffee shops where friends meet and spend hours in each other's company. "Today the line between friendship and love is blurring. For the older generation two people of the opposite sex enjoying each other's company was a sign of love whereas for today's generation it could be just plain friendship. However, even if one discounts the emotion of love there is an undercurrent of physical attraction. It is this confusion between love and friendship where one person thinks it is love and the other treats it like plain friendship that Kayamath deals with," explains Shailja. The star cast has Prachi Bora who played the lead role of Ananya in Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi on MTV. "Prachi was our first choice from the beginning, though she was reluctant to take this offer as she wanted to complete her graduation. So, we had to convince her that if she loses this particular role, there wouldn't be a better role to look forward to when she gets back to acting. Shooting began after Ekta Kapoor returned from her New Year's trip to Bali," reveals the creative head of the show, Ipshita. Apart from Prachi, the male lead is played by a newcomer called Jai. Shabbir Ahluwalia has been given a pivotal role in Kayamat too. Insiders say that it can be considered to be a parallel lead. Mohnish Behl is playing a cameo in the show. As of now, Behl has been informed that he will appear only in 10 episodes. "It's a guest appearance. My character, Inder Goenka, is someone who is inclined to fine arts, but his mother pushes him to join the family business. Although he does a good job there, his creative bent in him leads to constant friction between them," says Behl.So it's bye bye Sujal and Kashish and hello Praachi and Neev. |
