After playing Kamal Agarwal in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and shedding many a tears with Parvati bhabhi, Ali Asgar decided to go for a dramatic makeover.

No, the actor didn't go for a physical one, instead he opted for an image makeover with Comedy Circus . And the actor did a very fine job of it. He made his way into the finals and will now be competing with actor Swapnil Joshii.

Why this drastic image makeover?

I won't call it an image makeover. I have done quite a few shows on TV before Kahaani .. like Ek Do Teen and Do Aur Do Paanch , and movies like Joru Ka Ghulam and Josh where I was the comic element.

In fact Kahaani ... did wonders for my career. It was like a new lease of life. With Kahaani ... I moved away from doing only comedy roles. It established me as a versatile actor.

Do you enjoy doing comedy more than serious roles?

I enjoy doing any role that's good. Unfortunately where comedy is concerned, people never remember a funny role or serial for long. Our audience remembers actors who make them cry. (laughs). I think the audiences here like to cry rather than laugh.
