The show and this forum portrayed typical traits of an ITV show and an ITV forum. But was this always the case?

ITV shows’ content in the past ten years have not changed one bit,...especially the Ekta realm shows. The TV shows since the Ekta reign pretty much developed a standard formula, lot of money spent on a concept, marketing and promoting and very little money spent on writers and creativity. Of course TRPs were the ultimate deciding factor of the staying power of a show and that was a fighting battle, tv channels became quite ruthless in fact, lot of production people did leave channels becos they found that there was no creativity and it was numbers game...no one really knew what worked and in fact, trp audience which is not the audience on twitter was smarter, if they got bored, they would turn the channel. This meant the scramble for TRPs was real. Forum audience which is also the SM audience were not taken seriously by makers as the years passed, becos makers realized trp is most important. As shows began to run skelter, TV channels became ruthless, some makers portrayed immaturity and fans became emotional. The audience sitting at home was wiser, they didn’t care for businesses, they were bored, they moved on. SO content didn’t change much, BUT tv channels became ruthless and trp audience became unforgiving.

And as for FORUMS ...the past ten years has not seen much change either, but then has it? Forums have always been a place where groups collect to analyze, intellectualize and provide some creative chatter about ITV shows which frankly don’t deserve this kind of time and attention, but then why not. But then just as channels got ruthless, so did fans of the shows. Rabid fandoms, name calling, rude behavior and frankly lack of basic decency became the norm towards the end, all of this especially when a show is cancelled or a lead is leaving the show. What used to be a safe haven to gush, create and analyze became toxic.

I can assure you while many many may disagree, go and look up posts and replies and discussions in the past 10-15 pages and compare them to discussions during the first 20 pages...this forum was no different from any other. We became an intolerant group, just like the channels are a greedy group and the makers are a complacent group.

Maybe, we should develop a more detached method of watching shows, love them for what they are not for what we imagine them to be.

I went through the last few threads and oh my god you're so right. Every discussion is so polarized that even the most normal comment can be a landmine if someone reacts on it the wrong way.

Honestly it is like you said, fans are becoming wayyy too invested in these shows. The typical television audience doesn't care and there's no reason we should either. Everyone has an actual life and this is just not worth the time, especially because we don't have a voice. So so many times fans have tried to get a show extended, like YUDKBH had a huge movement. But none have ever been successful (except KRPKAB had a second season). So really it's useless. Yet fans fight as if its their career on stake.

People really need to chill. Watch and enjoy it as long as its there, because nothing is permanent.

All this change came only in last 1-2 months.Otherwise forum members have been very cool here.Even if they disagreed they always used to put their point in a very decent way.Dont know what happened suddenly

Exactly..this is the kind of toxicity helps no one, it is slowly killing decency and civilized behavior. Nothing is permanent, so rightly put.

You said it..thx a lot👍🏼 these r some unwritten rules for the forums. If you're not a fan of any actor or Jodi this place isnt for you. You can be abused for a normal comment on the show if its critical. So post only if you want to praise something. High time we stop getting personal over a damn show and actors which r so irrelevant to our lives.

There is a saying in Hindi which roughly translates to it is only in hard times that a person’s true nature in revealed, while this may be a little too serious to be applied here, but let’s just say..it kind of does.

Thanks for creating this post, this was much needed. Completely agree with you that a forum is meant to discuss characters, storyline of the show. At the same time we should be mindful that all views cannot match and we should be accepting views which may contradict ours. It becomes distasteful and extremely unbecoming of us as individuals if a mere show can rip down our civility and bring us does down to name calling and verbal abuse. If a view does not match can it not be ignored or taken in the right spirit.

I have never been a part of a forum before and this would be my last one too once the show is over.

Forums these days dont need hard times also. Normally too, if u criticize something ur tagged as hater , doesnt matter if it was the first time someone is commenting . Next day, stop watching if you dont like , next, find out who they like and start criticizing them as a counter reply. There is so much negativity .wonder it's just the social media ? In reality too people are losing patience over small things . Everyone seems to be frustrated and taking it out at wrong places. The fans and fandoms consider themselves as supreme power who can topple the channel, production and actors lives too...whereas they are just a minute percentage of tv viewing audience. One fandom bashes the other like they themselves are pristine . Ultimately they are also doing the same things for which they bash others.

Ps. This is not about any particular fans fandoms or serial. My views r general in nature.

@bold Hmm... For sure! You are contradicting your own post by saying this oh dear! Frankly this shows your lack of decency too... Making a post on other forum members? Wow! The cheap mentality shows off!

Exact my point, what used to be safe heaven, fun, positive, has become toxic because of such posts... Exactly, look up the posts, sab negative hai, kahin bhi positive, fun vibes hai hi nahi... And to be more frank, its because of such posts, n forum members who make such posts...

Have you ever, for once seen your n your friends T O X I C posts! Of course, one always sees others, not theirs... And for one thing, this is first time, I commented on your posts, cause I never wanted to spoil my mood, aur aaj toh bilkul nahi for a special reason... Yet, the words you used are horrible...

Literally! Calling us toxic, n what is this! A hypocritical mentality showcasing!
