Chote bhaiya to husband?is it common to your husband that there?Prannath is understandable

Actually that show aired in 2006 I think. The current Bengali shows are worse than hindi ( with 1 or 2 exceptions ) and in some of those, the wives call their husbands names like prananath and chorda-bhai ( chote bhaiya).....Even the promos are unbearable. KHKT and a Bengali show about Netaji are my only hopes.

Nope it's not common. It's cringeworthy the same way it's to you. The younger son of a family married the maid's daughter. That daughter grew up calling him chorda-bhai/chhot dada babu or something and didn't change it post marriage. She started calling him by his name post leap.

Yes prananath is understandable but in 2019, it's tacky beyond imagination. That's why i mentioned it. Another heroine calls her husband shohorer babu ( master from city).

The common practice here is to call your husband tum. But all the FL in the current shows call their husbands aap ( even our grannys called their hubbies tum ). Plus the storylines are more regressive than ekta shows.

But in the past shows like when i was in school, all the FLs called their husbands tum and by their names. The shows were realistic with relatable characters. It's like they have invented time machines that travel only backwards in time.

But sometimes they make shows with Bengali classic novels or historical characters. Those are of really good quality. Another current show about a house wife is pretty realistic till now and trying to deal with some serious issues. Also the movie industry is entirely opposite. Most Bengali movies nowadays are of rich taste and progressive and outnumber the bad ones.

Lol no. Just a guy from city. The girl was most probably a village girl. I'm not sure. My source are the promos. But pretty sure all of those guys are either unemployed or handle daddy's business and definitely not a mayor. That girl groomed herself and got modern but still kept calling him by that same phrase.

Yah but aap is more common among hindi speaking cultures in india. But in Bengal you won't find any wife from even in our mothers' generation calling her husband aapni (Bengali for aap ) instead of tumi in reality (there can be one or two exceptions but very rare ). So it sounds really odd and classless in the shows.
