This might sound too extreme for some of you, but honestly if I were Sonakshi I would break away from Suman and Pari...move out and cut contact.

Relationships are one thing, but integrity and values are also there. What's wrong is wrong, mother or not, sacrificed to make you successful or not. Sure there are responsibilities and love towards parents, but that doesn't mean you worship them blindly and overlook huge problems. There is no legit justification for Suman's greed, screaming, over-reacting, and degrading Sonakshi...so if the parent does not behave like a mature adult then Sonakshi has every right to knock some sense into her. The way Sonakshi behaves in front of Suman and Pari, like a pitiful puppy, its super disturbing to watch. She might as well be Cinderella!

I was thinking that myself too at first. But you need to understand that breaking away is not easy as it seems. She doesn't even have much other people or friends around her and she would be lonely and besides maybe she also feels at least Pulki is there around her

Or maybe she thinks there's redemption for her mother and sister. That they can be changed

Agreed. This show actually portrays a toxic parent so well. I'm surprised at how nuanced the characters are. One clear example is when Suman, at a moment when everyone is standing up against her when she goes psycho after the police station incident, feels cornered, and guilts her three children into agreeing with her using the whole "papa abandoned us" story. It is definitely a sad life she lived but using it to manipulate her children to bend to her will is a clear cut toxic trait.

Thing with toxic relationships though is that the victim usually is trapped. They might genuinely be kept in the relationship through guilt, sense of responsibility, and whatnot. I think ideally Sonakshi should break off from her toxic family but it definitely won't be easy. She will have to struggle hard to break out of the years of conditioning. I hope she does one day.

The way Suman behaves with Sonakshi, I doubt if she is even the biological mother of Sonakshi. There were many times I thought what if Suman is Sonakshi's stepmom?! And she keeps on comparing Sonakshi and Pari and tries to insult Sonakshi indirectly, which parents would do that! And I lost all respect for Suman that day when she forced Sonakshi to wake up and do the dance performance for the event despite the fact she knew that sonakshi got a leave after 1 n half months, she didnt even let her sleep peacefully. Which mother will do that?! Pari's behaviour is slightly better than Suman's. At least for once Pari felt sorry unlike this Suman. The guy(Pulki) is the only sensible member in the family, Sona is too mahan and Pari and Suman both are annoying. I m damn sure Suman had a hand in Sona's father leaving them, and if Sona's father comes back surely he will be positive.

Totally agree... She is treated like a doormat... She infact is happy with that... And that is a big put off...

Suman is so frivolous. Her reaction to Sonakshi at the hospital was so glaringly superficial. Doesn't seem that there is even one redeeming quality in either Suman or Pari.

Sometimes I wonder if sonakshi is Suman's real daughter !!! She sounds so selfish when talking to Sona and doesn't even really care about her. God knows how she tolerates them.

Sometimes i feel Sona might be Suman's husband's daughter and not her biological daughter.. for teh way she guilt trips Sona is beyond pathetic.. or maybe Sona just reminds her of her husband too much hence Suman puts her anger on Sona..
