Hey All -

I thought I'd share my views with you, and see if you concur. I've been watching Sony shows since 1yr and all their shows have good concrete stories but at the end they fall apart because the producers keep on prolonging it. If Sony wants its ratings to soar, then I think they should do what American tele does. i.e. have seasons and make the serials short and sweet, rather than dragging it for months and months. This way they would be able to show several shows a week rather than 4 serials from Mon-Thu. i.e. follow the likes of 24, Prison Break etc.

What do you all suggest?

I really like this idea..that way we will get to see a variety and wont be bored ๐Ÿ˜›

actually the problem is..when a new soap is aired..the viewers get hooked to the show..hence during the initial days the TRPs increases ๐Ÿ˜› ..the producers think that the soap will definitely do good in future..and profitable for their channel..it wud be the mother of all shows blah blah..but when time passes the show just looses its charms..it just drags and drags ..

Agree 100%. Giving the show its annual hiatus not only give the writers time to synthesise some interesting plots but if gives the actors a well-earned break. Instead, of endlessly shooting to compete for TRPs etc they could focus more on the quality content of their shows. And, like Sammy said the writers use forums to stay aware of the audience demands. Lost has been cut down to 16 episode seasons to fulfil the wishes of the viewers who felt the show was being dragged. The US Tv writers always plan out the begining and end of a season and then they fill in the details as they go along.

Ya its a good idea to hv shows with seasonal breaks ๐Ÿ˜› ..but the problem is all channels want to compete with each other in this trp game and therefore creativity takes the back seat

Entertainment business and television industry is huge in India. So all the channels are trying to gain trps and for that they would drag the serial as much as they want specially if the serial is having a wonderful cast and an interesting storyline. Kaajjal is one such serial on Sony channel. That is why they are trying to drag the serial now. Not just in the case of Sony channel but also regarding other channels like Star Plus, this is the same story.

There are star plus serials of Ekta Kapoor which has been on air for 5 years and it is still going good. I wonder how people are watching such serials which are completely out of sense!!! I happened to read one of the stories of saas-bahu serials of Ekta Kapoor and it was a total mess. All women seem to be watching such serials, which begin with some lead characters and goes on adding new characters and there won't be any connection between the first episode of the serial and today's episode of the serial. I just wonder how they watch such serials with nonsensical twists and turns.

It would be better if they make serials short and sweet. It would be ok, if one serial lasts for one year or so and in that one year, they make the serial beautifully without any kind of dragging on or nonsense and stop introducing unwanted characters and scenes. I feel that the writers of the serial should chart out the whole serial from the beginning to the end before they begin shooting the serial. The producers or the writers of the serial should not be changed at any point. If they do so, atleast they can stop adding anything unnecessary. Too much of twists and turns in a serial would ruin the serial.

In the serial 'Kaajjal' too, they are adding unnecessary twists and turns and new characters and making the serial boring. If anybody watches the serial from the beginning, we would find the beginning episodes really interesting and that was what attracted the audience to the serial. Now by adding new characters and memory loss and new love triangles they are making the serial stereotypical and stretching it. This will make people get bored and they will stop watching it regularly. This leads to the trps going down. It could be also because the producers of the serial changed in the middle and the new producers are going through financial crisis. So they are omitting the presence of many important characters in the serial.

The serial will catch the viewers interest only if each and every episode is free of bloopers and to the point and if each episode ends causing some kind of excitement in the audience. The audience should feel keen to know what happens in the next episode. They should enjoy the serial completely and each episode should be beautiful filled with the various emotions. The various emotions should be mixed in the right proportion into the serial to make it a poetry onscreen.

But creativity is taking a back seat, when it comes to trps. The producers and the writers just want to raise the trps and for that they are just dragging the serial in whichever way they want to drag it without any logic. If you have seen the serial 'Ek Ladki Anjaani Si' or 'Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai', it would be clear that the producers and writers tried to drag the serial and made it a mess. By the time the serial would be ending, the audience would be really happy that finally the torture is over๐Ÿ˜†

Let's hope people stop stretching serials like this and start making serials with interesting storylines, few characters and instances and scenes which are short and sweet and end the serial before it starts testing the patience of the audience.๐Ÿ˜ณ
