DEV-A CHARACTER TO REMEMBER FOREVER

Now when u talk about chemistry in hindi films or serials between lead actors what it actually means,we tend to consider only the physicality between the lead actors, our imaginations go wild if a guy touches a girls hand and then we go to our regular comparing mode like oh armaan was better in touching jassi's hand but dev is not that comfortable with kaju, thats what we do isn't it

My point is these r two different serials, two different characters with two different perspective, one may b a milestone and the other is a simple love story.

when it comes to armaan, well he was a casanova without any dreadful past, immaturish at times who loved to have unimportant pleasures in life but whose life changed after jassi entered his life.in short he didn't hv a mind of his own and was completely dependent on a girl, also frickle minded at times, but it was portrayed brilliantly by apu👏.

now when it comes to our dev(i m not comparing him to any character just trying to analyze his character),i think it is one of the most challenging and difficult role for any actor to portray and here r my reasons for it:

1)dev from the beginning itself was haunted by his terrible past which made him a self centred man,now here apu portrayed his pain in the form of anger and frustation quite brilliantly.

2)its was very difficult for dev to continuously ignore someone whom he loved and wanted the most i.e his mom, this anguish with his own mother was again performed outstandingly by apu

3)dev always had this feeling in his mind that his family don't understand him because of which he preffered to spend most of his time in his office, again this thought is portrayed with lot of feeling by apu,u can see that pain in his eyes

4)when u fall in love your only dream is to marry that girl and dev did the same thing, but his dreams came crashing down when even before enjoying the marital bliss he lost his wife, this disbelief of losing his wife was again performed extraordinarily by apu.

5)when kajal entered dev's life, his character went through a drastic change, this was the most difficult part in his charater, when after portraying an angry young man for 3 months suddenly he starts laughing, making fun of himself, enjoying the company of other people and his own family, now such a sudden change in his character and his way of emoting a scene in a completely different manner was done with full ease by none other than apu.

6)again when dev came to know about his friend's love,he started fighting with his own soul to choose between his own happiness or his friend's happiness, this fight with his own anteraatma has been portrayed with sheer brilliance by apu.

7)dev is always shown to b a man of principles for which if required he can go against his own family but will never give up fighting for the truth,he always believed in his own values, this belief in himself has been portrayed flawlessly by apu.

8)when u love someone to an extent that u can let her go for her life's sake is something quite praiseworthy, dev did the same thing with kaju(even though the truth is something else),this shows his charater is not at all selfish and he believes in giving even though he hurts himself, this fight with his own destiny has been very well edged out by apu.

9)even though dev is quite cut off with his family except for mayb chachi(with whom he shares his feelings),he always stood up for his brothers whenever they needed him(he went with veer to the IT office even though he was commited to meet kajal),this way of always showing restpect to his elders has been performed very naturally bu apu.

10)now comes the last part of his character sketch i.e the chemistry part,i think the way dev looks at kajal passionately, the way he talks to her with so much feeling, even in those massoorie days the way he showed his hatred(filled with wild passion) to kajal in a mesmerising way speaks volumes, what more could u ask for in a chemistry, even without a single touch u can feel the heat between them, and no wonder apu is just out of the world when it comes to romance and heated passion.

now with so much complexities in one character if someone still feels dev's character lacks depth then i can feel sorry for him or mayb i will respect his point of view.

but if someone says apu is not doing justice to dev's character and the chmistry is not working then i will certainly not agree with his point of view, because for me apu definitely deserves nothing less than an aaward for carrying out such a complex role with sheer perfection👏

i want to clarify that i wrote this post because i was a bit hurt😭 when people continuously keep saying that apu is not doing that well as dev as he did as armaan or the character of dev is not that strong which i think is completely unfair and baseless.if apu was brillint in his authorbacking role as armaan(i agree with that)then he is outstanding in a complicated role like dev.

I am in complete and total agreement with your view point Jyoti. I think this tendency of people to compare Armaan and Dev and to comment on Apu in that role or this one is because Kaajjal is still new ... I think its just a matter of time that Dev will become better remembered than Armaan, simply because this character has so much more depth and challenge for an actor. Actually it is easy for any actor to portrya a less realistic character, and I think Armaan was less realitic than Dev. It is far more difficult to try and be realistic and natural especially in soaps and serials that need to show lots of slightly "unreal twists in a real way". I think Apu is shining fabulously in this role, plus when its gets more advanced in the story who knows what more will come after Dev-Kaajjal declare their love for eah other. How much more will then be included to make the character continue to be interesting and different? I look forward to seeing all the shades of Apu's acting come forth in this role.

I can see your upset.Heres a Hug jyothi. 🤗

I cannot will not and never will compare Dev and Armaan.Yes Armaan chracter had a lot of depth and i dont give any of the credit of his chracter to tony and deeya who mercilessly tried to butcher it.Only people have seen both chracters can tell how different they are! And Apu ,well im not just saying this beacuse Im his Fan but He's been outsatanding both as Dev and Armaan.
And yes I hope he recieves a lot of praise For dev cause He deserves it!! 👏 👏

yes, Dev is always been compared with Armaan. They are poles apart. I liked Armaan Suri a lot and I simply love Dev.. Apu is fabulous, he is the best actor on TV

sharmi thanks a lot for that hug yaar, and u hv a very good point here, people who hv seen both the characters can only comment on apu's versatility,i hv really liked him as armaan but i again say that it was an authorbacking role which no doubt he prformed brilliantly, but whereas dev's character is concerned its not an authorbacking one,it requires a lot of silent acting which is difficult to portray evn for a good actor, but apu has perfomed it just brilliantly
