Part 1

After noting Jyoti's reaction to his request that she be replaced, Kabir almost tauntingly says, 'What an expression!!!' He then makes hand gestures as though he's taking her snapshots, and then tells a bemused Bhagya-da that in 1 second, she managed 3 completely different expressions. Jyoti asks him if he's being funny, and he denies it, and says that just like Jyoti's expressions changed within a second, similarly people's choices fluctuate (actually, no - if I'm spending an evening watching a rock concert, you can bet that I won't be longing for a drama during that evening.) He then says that w/ all due respect to classical dance, it does have its place, but people want something new. Until there is something new, there won't be a partnership, and as long as there isn't a partnership, she's not going to have business.

Kabir then switches topics, and gets back to the topic of Jyoti's scooty. He hopes that it wasn't damaged much, but tells her how dangerous it is to drive a scooty w/o brakes (yeah, I'm sure Jyoti voluntarily decided to try that out 🤔😆) There wouldn't always be someone out there to save her. He then smiles @ her and leaves, and Jyoti looks @ him somewhat amused.

Back home, Padma tells Dadi that she isn't convinced about Jyoti's decision to send Sushma to school. Dadi says that she too has reservations, but that Jyoti's instincts have generally turned out to be right. She tells her that now that everything has been made ready - the school books, uniforms, etc, she shouldn't thrown any spanners in the works.

Poonam is sorting the clothes, and is excited to see Sushma's uniform. She tells Padma that it was very similar to hers when she was in school. She however notes that Jyoti must have had it tailor-made, since uniforms are rarely that large. That provokes a mild scolding from Dadi 😆 and Poonam, somewhat disgusted, throws the uniform away and leaves the room. Padma tells Dadi that this is what she was afraid of - while all this is happening @ home, who knows what Sushma will have to put up w/ in school?

Part 2

That night, the pawnbroker who lent Jyoti cash, and who Jyoti still owes Rs 3000, visits the Sharmas, and Jyoti is shocked to see him. He tells her that she's forced him to come here by continually delaying the settlement of his debt. Jyoti tries to assure him that she'll settle his debt, but he asks her what guarantee is there that she will? She has been saying that for 15 days.

Just then, Poonam arrives, and the seth-ji sees her. An idea hits him, and he walks in up to her and suggests to Jyoti that she leaves Poonam's jewelery w/ him as a bond surety until tomorrow, and get it back once she gets there w/ Rs3000. All the family members are shocked. Poonam angrily goes inside and Jyoti tells him that he's needlessly insulting them, and that she'd give him the money tomorrow. Poonam comes back and tells her that there is no need to grovel before him, and hands him a wad of cash, telling him to go back the way he came. She asks him how he dared cast his eyes on her jewelery, and he in turn asks Jyoti why she hesitated to pay when they had money? He says that they only understand insults, but before Jyoti can say anything, Poonam threatens him and he leaves.

Jyoti asks Poonam wherefrom she got so much cash? Poonam responds that regardless of where, that problem was now behind them. However, Dadi backs Jyoti and insists that Poonam answer, and so she tells her that it was pocket money from her dad. Jyoti tells her that she shouldn't have given her father's money (absolutely, going into debt w/ total strangers who think nothing about humiliating you at this odd hour is sooooo much preferable, ain't it?) and tells her to spend it on herself or Deepu, not on the family. Poonam lamblasts Jyoti, telling her that while her self-respect is hurt by Poonam's dad's money being used, she seems to be okay w/ a stranger coming and demanding that her bahu's jewelery be pawned (👏👏) She points out that this is her home & family as well, and she was not going to tolerate outsiders coming to their home and insulting them on the basis of money
(👏👏) Turning towards Sushma, she tells Jyoti that there are other things to be embarrassed about (this was needlessly gratuitious) and then leaves the room.

Padma then tells Jyoti that she shouldn't have borrowed money (but she's one to speak. I agree w/ her, but Jyoti is the one who should have told her to go 🤬 herself when she asked for things like AC, geyser and honeymoon). Both Jyoti & KK stare @ her, while Padma tells her that if she doesn't have enough cash, it's okay. Today, the bahu saved the honor of the house, and yet, Jyoti was blaming her?

Deepu then comes in and tells Jyoti that it was she who had bought that jewelery for Poonam, so it was perfectly appropriate that Poonam paid for it. What was the reason to scold her?

That night, Sushma has a nightmare of being taunted in school by other students, and a teacher telling her that her admission was cancelled due to fears that b'cos of her, other students would stop coming. The 2 guys who spotted her @ the uniform shop joke that she's decided to give her baby a real head start 😆 Suddenly, she wakes up w/ a start.

At the terrace, Jyoti is awake and thinking about the words of Kabir, as well as the seth-ji and Poonam.

Next morning, Jyoti goes to Sushma's room w/ the tea, and finds her not there. She checks w/ Padma & Dadi, and finally finds Sushi on the terrace. Sushma again engages in her rhona-dhona, saying that she doesn't have the required guts, and Jyoti comforts her. She tells her to compare this w/ the times she took injections to get rid of her ailments. She asks Sushma whether she wants to regret to her kid not having prepared herself for becoming self-dependent. She then helps Sushma get ready, and after that, Sushma takes leave of Dadi, KK & Padma. Jyoti then drops her to school on her scooty.

At school, the principal takes Sushma aside and tells her that on her sister's request, she was given another chance, 15 days to pay up the fees and even though the school board objected to her case, she managed to persuade them. She asks Sushma not to do anything in school that might embarrass her in front of everybody. Sushma agrees. The principal then introduces her to her class teacher Mrs Ahuja, and tells her that this is the special case she was discussing earlier. Mrs Ahuja asks Sushma to go to class and take her seat.

This is where it all starts. Sushma enters the class, and the entire class stares @ her, and starts giggling. She takes a seat next to a girl, and that girl immediately gets up and takes the seat next to the guy in front of her. In front of Sushma are the 2 guys who smirked @ her in the uniform store, and they joke that by the time of the exams, even her delivery would be complete. Sushma is on the verge of tears hearing all this.

Part 3

Back @ Jyoti's dance class, she's teaching the students, but 2 of them keep getting it wrong. Jyoti complaints to them that they're not paying attention, and asks them how will they learn? And if they make the wrong moves, so will the rest of the group. Another student calls her, and Jyoti leaves them w/ instructions to practice. One of those errant students says that she doesn't want to learn anything from this woman - she's pregnant, and doesn't know who the father is. If her family knew, she wouldn't even be allowed to come here. (Then what are you doing here?) Jyoti overhears this, and turns back and tells the girl - Puja, this is her name, but she didn't put her surname in the admission form. So does Jyoti assume that she doesn't have a father, or that she doesn't know who he is? (Couldn't Jyoti have just kicked her out of the group, instead of putting up w/ that insubordination? How does one thnk Kabir or even Bhagya-da would have reacted to such an insult?) She then gives him that saw about how when one points to someone, 3 fingers point back @ her.

Back @ Sushma's school, the bell rings, and the kids resume teasing Sushma. They make all sorts of jokes about her, including one that suggested that she should have gone to KG so that her unborn kid could start there, instead of in Class XII.
Another suggested that she bring the kid's father there as well (Well. had Brij been there, he'd have assaulted the whole bunch of them) Finally, @ the playground, it becomes too much for Sushma, so she picks up a big stone and threatens them. One of them dares her to do it, and Sushma pretends to, and the guy feigns being injured. Everybody now turns on Sushma, even threatening to call the police, and she starts to run away from the scene, w/ everyone chasing her. Finally, she is out of breath, and stops @ a post, confronted by her menacing adversaries.

Precap

Finally, Sushma runs out of the school compound and onto the road. There, she is hit by a car, which speeds away, while Sushma lies on the road, presumably injured 😲😲

Comments

First things first - Kabir is a wacko

I thought Poonam was the hero of today's episode. All these stupid decisions that Jyoti took regarding the loans could easily have been avoided had she talked to Kalpana, and borrowed money on easier terms. Today, when the seth-ji demanded that Jyoti put Poonam's jewelery as a surety bond, Poonam went inside, took out the money and paid it off. After that, Jyoti had the gall to question her judgment, and so Poonam rightly told her how her sense of prestige was totally upside down - taking money from her father was insulting, but having a seth-ji come in and demand her bahu's jewelery wasn't. And for once, I was glad to see Deepu stand up for her. Going forward, managing the finances of this house should be transfered to Poonam, rather than left w/ Jyoti. That way, Padma won't hit her up w/ unwanted expenses, and unlike Jyoti, Poonam is not afraid of saying no.

On the Sushma incident, I agree w/ all those who said that she could have done a correspondence course. Jyoti is right that she should complete her education, but the way she went about it was ridiculous. While there is nothing abnormal about sending a grown up girl to school (and here, Sushma was not so abnormal - she was just a year older than the class), it is disruptive in a school environment to have a pregnant girl there. There is a good reason the parents of such kids would object sending their kids to such a school - such an example sends a message that being pregnant in school is okay, which obviously they don't want taught. The school principle should have pointed that out to Jyoti, and given her suggestions on the alternatives. Imagine TV is currently partnering w/ something called the Jyoti foundation to provide scholarships to 10 women (presumably adults) who want to continue their education. That's totally different from what's shown here - getting a pregnant girl to attend a class where none of the girls are pregnant, since most of them would presumably be minors.

Maybe, next week, Jyoti can give those students a good bhashan to make them regret what they have done. And to firm up Sushma's confidence, maybe she can force those 2 guys to befriend her, so that one day, one of them marries Sushma. 😈

Episode rating:
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

My favorite part was the part about Poonam paying off Jyoti's dues, and telling the seth-ji to get lost, and then getting back @ Jyoti for criticizing her for using her money on the family.

Hi Vrisha...
great update :) yeahhhh my fav part was of poonam paying off the jeweler and the way she spoke to him. I agreed with the way Poonam shut Jyoti this time, although pointing finger at Sushma was unnecessary. I hope Sushma is okay...she was trying to be brave and not cry with the classmates' behavior but goshhhhhh they were just bunch of stinkers..........and the boys just crossed limit with their ragging. I don't like such fellows and I hope someone teaches them lesson.

thanx for the update..really liked poonam today..seriously,tht seth chap ws ogling at her jewellery and the family was just standing ther..and then when she finally shuts him up jyoti is worried abt self respect..isnt protecting the dignity of the DIL of the house also part of the self respect?the comment on sushma was quite crass tho..she ruined her exit with tht..btw,how come she gets 'pocketmoney' from her father?
the school track is seriously messed up..like so many other people have mentioned already, sushma could have easily given the exams privately without undergoing such humiliation and it wud have been cheaper..there are a lot of people in the country who study at home and do well in their exams..this is just giving a wrong message,i personally feel so..

Very sad. I dislike 2 things intensely. A 17 or 18 yr old trying to become a mother despite HER not wanting to, and now this track that the only way she can write her 12th is to GO to school. She can easily sit for the Open exams.

I would definitely not want my daughter to befriend such a person in school. If I had a son, I am sure I will think that that girl was 'loose' and to protect my son and his adolescent instincts, move him as faaaaaar as possible from such influences.

Although I am a gentle person, I seriously can't help but hope that Sushma loses that baby in the accident. She will recover the emotional loss over time, BUT she will be able to take great strides ahead without the baggage of a baby which doesn't have a dad. I wish people in India could understand that our population is just huge. We need to educate them that it is not so imp to keep showing more babies esp those with a questionable and unhappy backgrounds. A similar track was shown in Balika Vadhu where a school going girl is taken off school and married coz she is shown carrying the baby of her husband (but with whom she was not officially united). Very sad. I wish they instead showed such girls gain mental maturity, lose the babies, gain a decent education and rather than deck up with mangal sutras and 24 bangles, hand a gold medal around their neck.

When will we get to see such strong women?

Completely agree w/ you. I'm the father of a school-going boy, and I too wouldn't want him to have pregnant classmates - older ones are fine. And I agree w/ your comment in the poll thread as well - both the babies - Sushma's & Jyoti's - will be albatross's around their moms' necks. While I'm not as gung-ho on either abortion or miscarriages, one thing I don't get - why can't they simply adapt out their babies after they are born? Adapting them out doesn't mean sending them to Sishu Mangal like orphanages - there are millions of parents in waiting lists who are longing for kids, and once they get them, they treat them just as their own. These babies too get loving families that they completely immerse in, and the only difference - their biological disconnect from their parents - is something that medical science can cover anyway - people don't always need parental health information for their best health care, which would be the only reason for such a holdover. Also, if and when Sushma & Jyoti do find new guys interested in them (and Jyoti already seems to have found one), they'll needlessly be burdening them w/ someone else's kid.

On the ending where Sushma gets hit by a car, I'll bet that she'll again meet the young doc who saved her the time she was thrown down a staircase by Brij. Regardless of whether her foetus survives or not, I think that this incident might be a pretext for her to find her next love in the doc, after she's passed her 12th. Incidentally, is Jyoti planning to get her to pass her bachelors next?

And I agree w/ the above posters about Poonam as well. In fact, Poonam, after an awkward start, has just the right personality to handle her demented sasural (and certainly handles Dadi better than Sudha ever did). I mean, in the name of izzat, Jyoti borrows money from goodness knows where, and is insulted @ home by such borrowers, and yet, she can't approach people like Kalpana, her ex sasural or even Poonam for such help? How is that value system, supposedly imbibed by her parents, furthering their fabled izzat? Poonam had just the right answer for Jyoti, and this time, Jyoti had no answer, and even Deepu felt obliged to support her. And Padma was right as well - it was Poonam who saved the izzat of the house by first paying him then and there, and telling him to cut his crap and get lost. That's how you handle such people - not by grovelling to them, as Jyoti did. And where would she have found money by next day?

Had I been Jyoti, I'd have asked Poonam if I could borrow Rs____ where the amount is whatever I owe outsiders, and then paid off all outstanding accounts. After that, it would be b/w Jyoti & Poonam on how or even whether they want it all paid back.

As for the pocket money bit, Poonam probably got a lumpsome from her dad b4 being sent off, and is probably using that. I'm glad she decided that she'd use it on the family, and not just on herself & Deepu. That's a refreshing change from the time she questioned Deepu on financing Sushma's meds. In fact, Poonam could even perk up and offer to pay for a geyser, which would make not just her, but everyone else comfortable during their bath/showers.

I think that the whole Sushma issue was really dumb
Aside from the fact that she could have done correspondance courses, are 17 year olds in India really that terible? A little bullying is expected, but to the extent where they cause her mental and physical trauma?
I was appalled. I'm 100% sure something like this would never happen. And If a pregnant girl does show up to class most people are either sympathetic, or they just dont know what to say and avoid the issue all together and treat the girl as an outcast.
But literally chasing a 5 month pregnant girl? That was horrendous.
Total crap is you ask me. Most kids have more sense than that.
As for Kabir, I really prefer Pankaj.

Oh , thank HEAVEN nothing BAD happened but it still led to something tear jerking for the students at school and probably some serial audience as well..

Sushi's speech in the class reminded me of an old Preeti Zinta movie "Kya kehna" which also (if I remember correctly) relates to pregnancy at an early age.

Well... it was a relief that atleast nothing BAD happened to her and she has finally wholeheartedly thanked Jyoti for making her going to school.. I was too worried. Padma shows her evil face to Jyoti again but with Sushma's support , I guess Padma's words or actions wont hurt Jyoti much..
