The scene starts w/ Pankaj having just got news that Jyoti is carrying his baby. Dadi steps up to very enthusiastically congratulate him. Pankaj is however doubtful, and asks them how can they be sure that the baby that Jyoti is carrying in her womb is his? Everyone is shocked to hear this, and Pankaj adds - can't that belong to Brij Mohan? Dadi is furious and steps up to slap him, but stops. Then she starts screaming at him for abusing his wife, while MN&G look embarrassed. She breaks down crying, and KK & Padma step up to comfort her. KK asks him how he could even entertain such vile thoughts? That too in front of his parents? They had come to give them the news of their grandkid, but he... He asks MN why doesn't he say anything? MN apologizes, and tells KK that when Pankaj himself can't trust his wife, what can they say? He can't see the pain of either Pankaj or KK. CM triumphantly tells them that they've now heard from the horse's mouth, what Pankaj's decision is? She regrets that the walls of that house don't have ears or tongues, or they'd tell him what has occurred. KK stops her, and tells her that she too is a woman, and that she has a daughter as well. Pankaj intervenes up and asks him not to equate his choti-ma or sister with KK's characterless daughter. There has been enough of a charade in this house, and that it's time for their breakfast. The Sharmas are disgusted and leave.
CM tells MN that she's happy that today, he at least said something. She then leaves the room w/ Minal. Uday steps up to MN in protest, but MN asks him what could he have said? Jyoti has betrayed their trust, lied to them and her maayka too participated in that deception. (I fully agree w/ MN here). Sudha is crying all the while hearing all this. Uday says that everyone is aware of the truth, but nobody is willing to concede it, since the circumstantial evidence all seems to be against Jyoti-bhabi. He asks BM whether everybody today is isolated from humane feelings? He asks them whether they forgot everything good about Jyoti in a moment's notice? Gayatri tells him that nobody has forgotten it, which is why it hurts all the more what she did. She also asks Uday that in future, not to refer to Jyoti as bhabi in front of them any more - it hurts a lot. Saying this, MN&G leave.
At the Sharmas, Deepu & Sushma are still trying to maintain that story about their parents going to the temple. Jyoti still suspects that they are suppressing something from her. Just then, the Sharmas enter. They all see Dadi sobbing uncontrollably, and Jyoti asks her what happened in the mandir that made her cry? Then she stops, and turns towards Padma, and sees both Padma & KK seething. She guesses that they went to Pankaj's place, not the temple. She asks KK what happened, and but despite her insistence, KK is silent. She then demands the truth from Padma, and then, on Padma too being hesitant, she resolves to go and ask Pankaj herself. Padma stops her, and asks her whether she too wants to be insulted like they were? She tells her that Pankaj himself remarked about the baby... Jyoti angrily demands to know, and Padma tells her that he suspects that that baby isn't his.
Pankaj enters his office, and senses that someone is in the room. He asks who is there, and guesses Jyoti, who is sitting there w/ a cold stare at him. Jyoti remarks that at least, he hasn't forgotten her so far. Pankaj asks her what is she doing there? She asked him what he told her dad - that this baby wasn't his? Pankaj tells him that he has nothing to do with anything that's related to her. Jyoti tells him that that may be his view, but if she wanted, she could prove that the baby she was carrying was his. She asks him whether he can contest DNA reports? However, she won't do it, since relationships that require proofs in order to survive don't last - they are destined to come apart. However, it's enough for her that her baby is a part of her and her identity, and an inheritor to her love. Pankaj asks her whether she thinks that by listening to her lecture, his hatred for her would be altered? Jyoti tells him that in reality, that baby does not deserve his hatred, what deserves his hatred is his ego that denies that his wife too could have a side to the story. She tells him that everyone tells her that Pankaj might be loving someone else, but he would never be able to understand that, and his arrogance has outgrown him. She however tells him not to labor under the illusion that she's come to prove herself. Nor is she waiting tearfully for him to come and claim her back. She has come to break up all ties w/ him, saying that she has lost the Pankaj that she always loved.
She tells him that no mother can tolerate her kid being abused. Pankaj shuts her up, and tells her to end her bakwas. Jyoti asks bakwas, and Pankaj tells her that after she lied and cheated him, everything she tells him is nothing but that. Today, he listened to everything she had to say, but in future, not to dare come to his office again. He then yells at her to get out!!! Jyoti picks up her bag to leaves. Before leaving, she tells him that she'll go, but he'd never be able to forget her words, because they are the truth - a truth which he's knowingly ignoring. Saying that, she leaves.
At home, Sushma assures Deepu that in future, she'll travel in taxi, since the auto ride seems to have exhausted her. Deepu regrets that he didn't have enough to buy her a car, w/ a driver. Sushma assures him that it's not needed, and that she was just joking. She tears up a medical slip, and he asks her why she's doing it w/o showing Padma? Sushma says that their mom would only be unsettled for not being able to do what was prescribed. As usual, she says this just as Padma is walking in, and Deepu is exasperated. Sushma walks past her, and Padma asks Deepu what it was.
Deepu tells her that today was her check-up, and the doc told her that the baby's development wasn't as normal. For this, she prepared a diet plan that included milk, fruits, veges, nuts, and vitamin tablets. However, she tore all that up.
In the kitchen, Sushma is thinking, while the milk is boiling over and overflowing. Padma rushes to handle it, and as Sushma gets to it, Padma asks her where was her attention? Sushma tells her that she was somewhat exhausted. Padma tells her to rest if that was the case, adding that she'd handle this stuff. Sushma regrets that she can't earn anything to help maintain her baby. She tells her that Deepu is earning more, and if Jyoti does as well, they'll have even more (what would she have done if Jyoti had been forgiven and never kicked out, but simply banned from simply sending any more money home?) She tells her that god will see to it that everything is okay, but Sushma disagrees, and says that god is punishing her for hurting everyone. Padma tells her not to harbor such thoughts, adding that they're not good for her baby.
In her room, Sushma is wondering what to do next, and picks up her cellphone. Next scene, she's standing somewhere in the streets, and Brij arrives in an auto. He asks her why all of a sudden did she remember him? Crying, Sushma apologizes to him. Brij asks her whether she'd say anything in addition to it, or just cry about it? She asks if they can forget the past and start a new future together? Brij laughs, and asks her whether she's called him here to tell him dirty jokes? He asks her how she even thought that he'd forgive her after what she and Jyoti did to him? Sushma still begs him to forgive her, and she concedes the fault was hers. But from now on, she won't even let such situations arise. She assures him that she won't allow their poverty to come in the way of their marriage. Brij asks her whether she's hit the lottery, and she tells him that she just remembered something. She would take her jewelery to another city, sell it and do some work there. But she can't do that alone - she needs him.
Brij tells her that he never had any problems w/ her, just w/ Jyoti. Now, she's got her just desserts, while Sushma seems to have got her foot on the ground as a result of living w/ her family for these few months. He tells her that if she'll do what he tells her, then... Sushma asks him, and he says that...
Next morning, @ Brij's home, Sushma enters the house and gives him a packet. He is satisfied. He tells her that he's keeping it safe, but Sushma tells him that before anybody suspects her, she needs to leave the city. If she was caught, her folks would confiscate her jewelery. Brij agrees to pack their stuff, and Sushma asks him to hurry up. While Brij is packing, Sushma looks at him bitterly, and then turns to the kitchen shelf and while Brij is checking what she gave him, she pours kerosine on herself, screaming bachao, bachao, Brij mujhe maro mat, bachao... faking an attempt by Brij to burn her alive. Brij just looks at her stunned at what she is doing, and the episode ends on his face.
Pankaj's reaction to the baby was discussed yesterday. He could have been more tactful by telling Dadi that he had nothing to do w/ anything that was Jyoti's anymore, and that included that baby. That way, they wouldn't have been insulted. That said, while Pankaj's comments were crass, I couldn't but chuckle at the Sharmas, who had been lying to him all these months, being so comprehensively insulted. I also agreed w/ MN&G when they told Uday that given the deceptive behavior of both Jyoti and her family, there wasn't much they could do about it. Although I think Gayatri should not have told him not to call Jyoti bhabi - that's his wish. What would he call her as Sudha's sister?
I also liked the way Pankaj handled Jyoti's office confrontation w/ him - when she told him that no mom tolerates her baby being abused, he just shut her up and ended it. Again, instead of making that baby's parentage the issue, he could have simply told her that he had nothing to do w/ anything that was hers, and that included that baby. He needlessly gave Jyoti a stick w/ which to beat him.
Finally, I just hope Sushma has this plot to frame Brij or blackmail him really well planned out - if nobody were to hear her screams, how would it help? Only one thing - if this goes to court, the Sharmas would be forced to concede that Sushma was living w/ them, in which case, it would be obvious that Sushma was trying to frame Brij. What exactly does Sushma want - the only thing that Brij has of hers is the necklace of Lata. Brij was completely defeated here, and Sushma seems to be snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Unlike Brij, Sushma doesn't have such a scheming mind that can successfully implicate him in an attempted murder.
