Prologue
The battlefields were quiet now, but the war wasn’t over.
Jalaluddin Muhammad stood alone, staring out at the horizon, the weight of his crown feeling heavier than ever. The air was thick with dust and smoke, and the land lay in ruins. He’d won today, but something didn’t sit right. He could feel it in his bones...this war wasn’t going to end the way he expected.
And then, there she was.
Jodha Bai. Registan ka Gulab.
She appeared from the smoke, riding through the wreckage like she belonged here, her eyes focused, unflinching. He didn’t know why she was here, or what she wanted, but one thing was clear...nothing about her was ever simple. Not then, not now.
The space between them was filled with questions, unspoken words, and a tension neither of them could escape.
Could there be peace between them?
Could there ever be peace at all?
The answer wasn’t in the battle.
The answer wasn’t in the crown.
The answer was somewhere in the quiet.
But finding it... was another fight entirely.
